Chapter 1A Chapter by WølfyI felt out of place as I slowly made my way to the double doors of Whitechapel University. The students seemed to just wear normal clothes while I was still wearing my highschool uniform. In one way, I was happy to be in a new place. A chance to play music and meet new people, but at the same time I was afraid. Starting a band was not easy for me. Every band I was in I got fired from. They would claim I did not keep in time with the band, others would tell me I was too good. I think they all were just jealous. Inside the build was very clean and looked well taken care of. I made my way to the front desk where an old lady sat reading a book. The woman was more then likely in her 50's and seemed to be at least somewhat religious due to the fact she was reading a bible. "May I help you?" the woman asked as she looked up from her book. "Yes, I am here to move in my dorm room." "Name?" The lady looked through a piece of paper that had a long list of names. "Mikarie Higikyuaru." "Room 202, second floor." I made my way up a stairwell to the second floor and to the room. Before I could open the door to I noticed a very odd looking girl. She had long black that was tied into two perfect pigtails with a white hair in the shape of a skull to hold back her bangs. The account of eye liner she wore was more then what most normal girls would wear. Around her neck was a black dog collar. Her shirt was also black but had red lettering on the front that read 'The Devil's Girl.' Her arms were covered in tattoos most of them were odd runes and symbols along with a pair of black wristbands that she wore. The girl's black frilly skirt was slightly torn giving off an almost punk-like vibe along with her black combat boots. In her hand the girl was carrying a guitar case. "Hiya!" The girl merely smiled. "Hello." "Looks like we will be dorm mates." "Seems so." I opened the door to the room. The inside was a pretty standard room with gray carpet and white walls. There were two beds in each of the the corners. I put my stuff down on one bed. "My name is Alesea Verrier but you can just call me Kitty." "Mikarie Higikyuaru but--" "Mikarie-chan!" "You don't have to use honorifics. We are not in Japan." "I know, but it is just so cute to say it that way!" Kitty placed her guitar case on her bed. "So what kind of guitar is that?" she asked. I took my guitar out from its case and showed it to her. "Gibson Exclusive Les Paul Classic with a maple top body, and mahogany back. Rosewood fretboard, 24 inch scale, 24 frets total. Neck and bridge pickups." I was somewhat surprised. This girl really knew her guitars. "How much did you spend on it?" "About 109,797.49 yen." "So, about 773.69 pounds or 1,000 dollars if we were in the U.S.A." I sat on my bed as Kitty continued to look over my guitar. "What can you play?" she asked as she handed me my guitar. I started by playing an E-Melodic Minor sweep picking riff in 4/4 time at 190 BPMs. "Sixteenth notes. Pretty impressive." Kitty pulled out her guitar which was amazing to say the least. A vintage Gibson 1962 hollow body guitar with a sunbrust style. Those cost around 1,100,000.00 yen. Just how rich was this girl? Even though I only played the riff for four bars she managed to play it back exactly as I had. "Most people cannot play the riffs I create." "Really? That is odd. I thought that was a pretty basic riff." "Can you play that in time with me and then keep playing it for four total measures?" I asked. "Sure." I counted both of us off and then we both started to play that same riff for two measures without missing a beat. On the third measure I transposed to playing the same riff but this time in thirds. After four measures we continued to play different riffs. Oddly enough it was like both of us knew what the other was going to play. Kitty would play rhythm while I did lead riffs, other times we would switch out or even harmonize. "We should start a band!" she finally said as she played a blues solo in an A-Pentonic Scale. I merely smiled. Maybe this was the beginning of something great.
