My Tiny PrincessA Poem by Black WidowI wrote this about my little sister who I truly miss. She's growing up and we barely ever speak anymore. But I think about her all the time...I promised when you were born to always be by your side; That I would be there for you through every tear you cried. We had this special communication that no one could decode. Don’t you remember the days of old music and country roads?
Now you’re practically grown; You’re almost seventeen. You used to be my tiny princess and now you are a queen. Growing up is always a journey, and to grow we must make mistakes. And I’m sorry if I ever hurt you or if I caused your heart to break.
I started smoking and getting high, even skipping out of school. Sometimes I blew off our plans because I thought I was too cool. When the world gets cold I remember how I could always make you smile, how you’d sit at the door and cry each time I had to leave for awhile.
We made dancing in the rain our favorite summertime affair, and even if it started pouring we just didn’t give a care. I needed true unconditional love and I guess God had a plan, because he gave me a baby sister who always tries to understand.
These days I never know when I may see you again. I know I’ve always called you sister but you’re more like a best friend. It hurts when you come to town but don’t pick up the phone. We no longer speak and it kills me. At times I turn to stone.
You’re my tiny princess. You're the beat of my heart. You’re my strength and my weakness. You’re my love from the start You’re my light, my dark, the stars up in the sky. You’re my ups and my downs. You are the reason I try.
