Silence

Silence

A Poem by David Reed
"

just silence

"
As heaven came down upon the earth, the people cried tears of joy at the proof of their holy afterlife. Sinners had asked for and received forgiveness. All was right in the world. The war over religion had ended. Then suddenly, with a frightening turn of events, soft hands tore apart the angels. The holy blood rained upon the souls of the screaming mortals. The blood then began to burn the flesh right off of their bones. Then the screaming came to a stop... silence.

Short, sweet, and to the point. Interesting take on giving hope and ripping it away in an instant.
