![]() Tale of JimmyA Story by David Reed![]() I wrote this for class![]()
I awoke with Kodi nuzzling my chest. I kicked him in the hip with my right hind leg. He woke up moaning, "Dude, what the h…""Don't even say it," I said as I began to stand up, "Every morning we go to sleep on opposite sides of the cave and I still always wake up with you nuzzling me!""Sorry, I just can't stop thinking about her." He said as he rose onto his four legs and stretched. "Then why aren't you over there nuzzling a rock?" I said sourly. "Because you're fuzzier." He said jokingly. "Kodi…" I sighed. "Yes Jimmy?" He said with enthusiasm. "You're my best friend" I said, "so I hate to say this but Gloria doesn't like you."
"You think I don't know that?" He said with some small anger in his voice. "Well, you have to get over her dude." "Why?" "Because," I began to speak intensely, "This isn't a pack. We don't hunt, we scavenge. Our alpha male is a total wuss. Tomorrow we will be adults, and then we are out of here." "Are you crazy?" Kodi yelled with confusion. "The exact opposite." I said. "Jimmy," he said, "you have done some pretty stupid stuff in the past, but this," he paused for a second, "this is absolutely insane!" I stared at him with my serious stare. "Jimmy," he said, "You're not as powerful as you think you are; you won't last a day on your own." "Then I guess I'll see you in hell." I said, and then I left. I began walking out of the open clearing where our "pack" stayed. Everyone was watching me as I walked towards the woods. I held my head up high to seem confident and strong, even though I really wasn't. The others seemed surprised, probably because Kodi wasn't walking right next to me. I walked right out of the clearing and into the woods. After a couple of minutes of walking alone and thinking about my past, I heard running coming from behind me. I turned and saw Kodi stopping just two feet in front of me. "Did you really think," he said while panting, "That I would let you go out all by yourself?" "Lay down and take a breather." I said while chuckling. He collapsed and began panting heavily. After his breathing had calmed I made him get up and start walking. We walked for a while; we didn't even really know where we were going, we just knew we were going. We always had something to talk about no matter what. Kodi almost always started talking about Gloria, but I always changed the subject. "Did you hear that?" Kodi asked with a shake in his voice. I did hear it, but I didn't reply to Kodi. The noise was someone, or something, following us, and whoever or whatever it was, it was now standing close behind us. "Aren't you gonna turn around and say hello to your old man?" I turned to see my father standing tall. Patches of brown and red stained his snow white fur. I couldn't hold myself back any longer. I leapt at him with full force. With one swipe of his large paw he knocked me straight onto the ground. As soon as my fathers paw struck me Kodi leapt into action, placing a fierce bite upon his shoulder. As I rose to my paws I saw my best friend, my brother, in a death lock with my father, the man who ruined my life. The battle lasted only seconds until my father pinned Kodi to the ground and snapped his neck. Without control, I attacked my father. I bit his ear and ripped it directly off of his head. "GAH!" He screamed fiercely in pain. "You know," he began saying cockily, "You always were my least favorite child." "I'm surprised you even had me." "Well, once I got rid of the stupid b***h that gave me you, I found a few others." "You will not speak of my mother!" He was about to speak again but he got distracted. "What the hell is that thing around your neck?" What was around my neck was a black medallion with the wings of an angel on it. After my mother was murdered brutally by my father, and I was abandoned, I was found by an old Native American hermit. He raised me until I began to get too big, he taught me many things: how to fight, live, hunt. Before he left me with the only pack that was willing to accept me he gave me the medallion and said to me, "Jimmy, this medallion is your destiny. It is your purpose." "It is my destiny." I said. I then jumped so high it was as if wings were lifting me into the air. I dove down at my father like a hawk on its prey, sinking my teeth down into his throat. He then collapsed to the ground, blood pouring out of his neck like a fountain coming down the mountain. I put one paw on his cheek and one paw on his shoulder. "Tartarus, you are not my father." I said as I used all of the strength from my anger to rip his head away from his body. Decapitation. I then stood for maybe an hour, staring at the body of my best friend, crying. I suddenly looked up and saw the crack of dawn breaching through the trees. I then chose, for some reason, to walk towards it. I walked and I walked until I left the forest and found one of those paths humans use for transportation in those big metallic things that they use. I began to walk directly in the center of it. Next to this path ran a river. It was an odd river. The water looked black and fog lay upon it. After a while I saw a human in a boat. I could not see his face because he was wearing a black cloak all over his body. What I did see were his two glowing red eyes staring at me. After a few seconds he disappeared into the fog. I then noticed that this path I was walking on had led me underground. The air around me began to grow cold; yet, in the distance, I could see the light of fire. "Welcome to the highway." Said a voice next to me. I turned to see a black crow slowly fluttering next to me and staring at me through glowing red eyes. "The highway?" I asked while blinking. As soon as I opened my eyes the crow had transformed into a large black wolf with the same red eyes. "The Highway to Hell." He then began to run down the highway. I uncontrollably began to chase him. I caught up with him and asked, "Who are you?" "I have a whole lot of names dude," he said, "But you can call me The Devil." While running with The Devil we passed by many strange things. We passed by a humongous iron maiden, guns and roses, and a death clock. We then stopped running. We had stopped in front of a stairway. "You don't belong here Jimmy." Said The Devil, "This is the stairway to heaven. You must climb it and knock on heavens door." "But why?" I asked. "Because of the thing around your neck." "My medallion?" "Your destiny. You will find out what it is exactly soon enough. Now get the hell out of Hell." I then began to climb, step by step up what seemed like an endless stairway. I climbed and climbed but it never seemed to end. I looked down and closed my eyes. Once I opened them and looked up I saw a very large door. I scratched on the door and it opened to show me a ten foot tall, pure white wolf with yellow eyes. "Hello Jimmy. I am God." He said. I couldn't speak a word. "You are here for one reason." He said. "What's that?" I asked. "To become the angel of death," he said, "and kill everyone." He then took the medallion off of my neck. I suddenly felt something on my shoulders. I had sprouted black, feathered wings with a span of ten feet. "And this is your ammo." He said while showing me enough lead zeppelins to cover the earth. "I then blinked and found my self here. And now it's time to die on this December day in the year 2012." Jimmy said as all the lead zeppelins came crashing down into the earth, destroying it completely. And that is the tale of Jimmy. © 2011 David ReedAuthor's Note
