Accidents Happen

I hit the ground with enough force to knock the wind out of me. It hurt really bad, and I gasped for air. It felt like my lungs were on fire. "Lane!" They shouted, and I felt the heavy weight lift off of me. I caught my breath, and I rasped out those two words.
"Thank you." I coughed and rolled over on my hands and knees, picking myself up off the ground.
"Okay, what the hell do you kids think you're doing? Do you know how dangerous that is? You could have died if I wasn't here! What would your parents think?" He said, and I looked down at the ground. "You guys come with me. I'm dropping you off at your house before you get hurt. Don't pull this kind of crap again. Do you got that?" He said, and we nodded.
"I'm sorry. I was caught on something, and I couldn't move. I was going to jump, but I was stuck." I muttered, and he sighed.
"Accidents happen, and you have to know how dangerous that was. Not to mention that you're out past curfew, and you could have been arrested." He added, and we nodded.
