Ice Cold

The snow falls
Lands on her cheeks
The tears mix
Turn cold with the flakes
On the run
Life left behind
Freezing body
Frozen heart
But her heart
Has been like that
Long before the winter
Looking up from her feet
She sees a fire in the distance
Smoke rising
Dissipating the fog
Warmth runs to her toes
A small smile lights her sea blue eyes
She runs
She stumbles
Until she gets to the fire
Where suddenly
She falls to her knees
Her hands to the flame
Her heart warming
But the fire sets her to flame
She burns
She runs
Back into the cold
Life left behind
