Mirror

Mirror

A Poem by BlackNightshade
"

"Mirror, mirror, what do I see? It's a reflection, but is it me?"

"
Mirror, mirror,
What do I see?

A monstrosity,
Looking back at me.

Mirror, mirror,
What is that being?

I know it is,
But that's me I'm seeing?

Mirror, mirror,
How can this be?

I thought that they told me,
They said I was pretty.

Mirror, mirror,
I can't stand to look.

The pain, the scars,
My love they took.

Mirror, mirror,
Hide my face!

This thing, not human,
It's a disgrace.

Mirror, mirror,
I only wanted to see.

To see what they think,
What I wish I could be.

Mirror, mirror,
You see through my mask.

But after years,
How long can it last?

Mirror, mirror,
You see through my lies.

I tried to pretend,
I'll continue to hide.

Mirror, mirror,
I don't like what I see.

I know it's the truth,
But it doesn't have to be me.
