Arguing With The Heavens

Arguing With The Heavens

A Poem by Serenity Faith

I look to the heavens,
and ask God why
Must these clouds,
mock my eyes

I'm ignored at first,
as the sky falls down
releasing it's tears
upon my crown.

The sky opens up,
did it hear my cry
Instead it yells back,
a thunderous reply

I keep my pace,
in the pouring rain
while the heavens call,
out all my pain

act as you do,
be that way
instead of offering,
a brighter day

I'm hurt, i'm sad,
I'm angry too
why Heaven's I ask,
what happened to you

The heavens pause,
for quite some time
a penny for its thoughts,
then it begins to shine

I smile to myself,
no need to disagree
you are only you
and I am only me

Emily,

I love this poem. It's that simple. It made me smile. :) More importantly, it made my day as it is incredibly hot here in Rome...we need some rain. Thanks!

I like this. It's a different take on crying and the rain. The last two stanzas are a nice surprise and work for me. Nicely written.

Thank you very much. I'm glad that you smiled as I did ^_^
It always seems (to me, at least) that on the days you feel your most distressed and discarded...it RAINS. I really like he way you use this in getting your message across to your readers.
The last two stanzas really hit home! Nicely done...
