Dear SelfA Poem by WynterPhoenix"Let the world know you as you are, not as you think you should be, because sooner or later, if you are posing, you will forget the pose, and then where are you?" ~Fanny BriceDear self, Why are you ashamed? Everyone makes mistakes. He played you like a game. I know it’s something you can never get back, but your body is worth so much more than that. Dear self, Why do you feel betrayed? Your friends are resentful. They never liked your fame. Cherish your talents And you’ll feel at ease. They won’t stick around But not all of them will leave. Dear self, Why are you afraid? This is your life goal. It’s not your fault they strayed. You shouldn’t feel guilty For becoming your own person. You have far more opportunities Than they’ll ever meet. Dear self, Why do you let them use you? You control your future. Don’t let their words Shatter your dreams. You’re smart. You’re beautiful. You’re just part of their scheme. Dear self, Why do they amuse you? They’re trying to destroy you. Their jealous games were No match for your intelligence. You were aware of their strategies. You were always three moves ahead. Dear self, Why are you so strong? Their words are worse than stones. You turned their cruelty Into a beautifully twisted symphony. You looked right through their pity And proved you could make it on your own. © 2011 WynterPhoenixReviews
