Snow

Snow

A Poem by H. E. Schreiter

Cold wind blows

Snow drifts down

A blanket of white

Covers the brown

We bundle up

To step outside

We leave footprints

With every stride

We carve paths

Into the hills

Leaving our mark

On their purity

We change the landscape

Dotting it with ramps

And snowmen

As time marches on

Jack Frost comes out to play

Nipping our nose

Freezing our toes

But the cold won’t stop us

From building our dreams

Out of snow

When we finally head in

After our day of fun

We leave a place

That is different

From the one in the beginning

As the night winds blow

As more snow falls

All traces of us vanish

Footprints are covered

Paths are gone from sight

Beneath the new snow

Purity returns to the landscape

Its face free from blemish

Until tomorrow

When we return to the beginning

And make it different.

Absolutely lovely! It's snowing where I am, and this chilly weather is certainly an excellent source of inspiration. You've really captured the beauty of a snowfall and new beginnings. Keep up the great work!

Thank you! I was really trying to convey the beauty of things when it snowed in my area.
