The Good Die Young

The Good Die Young

A Poem by Curiosity and Black Angel
"

The Good Die Young is an attack on some very important topics. Child abuse, murder, self-pity, stereotypes.

"

The Good Die Young

Anthony fell over, slumped in a

garbage can in the cold of the valley night.

Cast away by society, envied by the same society.

Stumbled upon by a drunken man

whose clothes reeked of foul odor

and breathing of old rum.

Jamie lay still in her corner,

feeling remorse for herself and pitifully draining her pain

as she cries away.

She flinches each time she relives her father’s

strong hands crossing her beaten face.

Aaron stumbled while trying to jump

from a ten foot tall fence that had been

rusted over the years.

White beaters were on his tail with black beaters waving.

Jennifer and Jessica, two blond hair,

trailer trash teenagers traveled to a

high school in Orange County.

Struggling with acceptance.

being fed into a continuous stereotype of beach blond beauty.

And I... sat perched on my cloud of emotions,

the dark cloud... guilty of passing away December 31, 2004.

I rose once again, but new and improved.

I died young, suppressed as I lay

in an old pickle jar like a captured ladybug.

Wow! I started off thinking about the title...and ended up reading the description you gave on top.... (I am disorganised, so...) But I think this is an awesome piece of work! It is so true and hits so hard! Realistic without being too in-your-face.....I love the way it flows....

I guess your typos and grammar flaws were meant...even if they weren't, it reads fine...so no worries on the form front.

Great Work! Am eager to read your other works!

God Bless!

Amazing writing. Truthful and simple, it shows Americans the evil we are fighting even in this country, where we all think life is so good. Sad part is, as long as we are humans we will be sinful and the world will hurt because of it. But even the littlest bit of good helps.

Great poem.

I really like the meaning behind the title.
You got your point across very accurately and precisely using both a non-literal and literal meaning of the word death. I agree that it can be your spirit that dies while your body lives on.
Well written.
