Just like chess

Just like chess

A Story by Dean Wyes

It is said that the pen is mightier than the sword but, how powerful can it be, when the used ink has been corrupted with lies? Does it still bear its power or is it lost among ignorance and rage?

It all goes down to the desire to have it all, ambition that can vitiate even the noblest soul, simple steps to unleash battle and destruction.

Deceiving the heart, the illusion of romance and forbidding desires, true love used only as excuses for war. It stops being ink but blood what history uses to write down history.

Blood shed by innocents, by those who wanted nothing but the truth, even those who only wished for happiness. Wars have been like that and so they remain to be.

Everything ends up compared to the game of chess and its rules. It is the strategy to defeat your adversary, to topple their king while trying to keep your own pieces out of danger. However, even the best strategist must admit they must sacrifice pieces in order to win. Pawns are more than simple pieces to them; they can always become the key towards victory.
