Our Love Was Lost To Soon

I never thought that this day would come,
when we had to say goodbye.
I thought our love would last forever,
but I guess that was a lie.
Things started to change
as we drifted apart.
You served your country and I was at school,
and I guess I couldnt fix my heart.
My love for you is still there,
even if your not with me here.
Everything I am without you is nothing
and it pains me to know your not near.
But I have to say goodbye,
I hope you understand.
I thought we would be together,
and this didnt go as I planned.
Forever it took,
for my words to be written.
But these words cannot change how I feel,
how my heart feels bitten.
I am ruined on the inside,
and on the outside as well.
This cannot go on,
and I learned that I can no longer dwell.
In the past and in the future,
please remember me.
My heart is locked up once more,
because you took the key.
Serve your country well, my dear,
because that is where your meant to be.
But please my love
rember that doing this lost me.
I cannot say the sorrow I feel,
for not knowing what was to come.
But you know Im not the strong one,
and I can no longer feel this dumb.
So goodbye my love,
I will think of you at every full moon.
But for now I think, we can both say,
our love was lost to soon.
