The Seer (Chapter 10)

A Chapter by Britiney Harper

Chapter 10

A few days passed and life in my house was anything but normal. Poppy basically moved in my house to “keep an eye” on me. Honestly I think it was because she liked flirting with the guards. Thankfully Sarah regained consciousness after resting up for two days, but she mostly wanted to be alone. Not only did she have to deal with finding out about our secret community she was attacked in her own apartment. Tyson stayed outside the guest room, they still weren’t speaking much. But he loved her so much that he wouldn’t leave her even if she hated him. One of these days we were really going to have to make some type of reading material for newbies. To be thrown into this world is very hard and confusing.

To distract Lynn for a few hours I decided to take both her and Auri to look at dresses. I hoped to get Sarah out of the house too, but she was sleeping a lot. Truthfully I should have been resting too but it’s my job to take care of everybody. And I had to prepare for my girls, who would be coming home in a few days. Too much to do and a weak me that had to do it all. Plus planning Lynn’s wedding. Thankfully I didn’t astro project again.

At the dress store Poppy and I waited out on the cushy couch while our brides to be tried on dresses. Lynn was so nervous about if she was showing that she wasn’t sure if she wanted to even go. Good thing I’m very persuasive and the ladies at the bridal store are very helpful. Of course she’s not their first pregnant bride. In my opinion she’s not showing at all, but I know it’s hard to be told that when you’re pregnant. And there was the possibility that she would show before the wedding.

“I never thought I’d be doing this,” Auri said twirling in front of a three way mirror.

“But you do look amazing,” I told her. She had on a long simple white halter dress.

“Should you wear white?” Poppy asked and Auri made a face.

“Says you who has slept with half the demons at the farm,” she replied. I loved that all my sisters related or not got along very well.

“And I’m working on the wolves now too,” Poppy said with a big smile. She was definitely not the shy quiet girl she was when my mom met her anymore.

“We can’t all be Mackenzie the pure when we get married,” Auri said.

“There is nothing wrong with waiting,” I said.

“Cause you’ve been obsessed since you were 5,” Auri said while admiring herself. “You never know you could have way better sex with someone other than my brother. Too bad you didn’t test drive a little before you tied yourself to the big bad Alpha. Now he’ll kill any guy that bats an eyelash at you.”

“Why would I want to be with anybody else? All of you tease me about it but I love Javi and he’s the only one I’ve ever wanted to be with,” I said.

“Its kind of cute saving yourself for your life long crush and actually marrying him, only you little sister,” Poppy shook her head.

“I can’t wear white,” Lynn said when she finally came out.

The dress she had on was like a Grecian Goddess style empire waist flowing gown. On her it looked amazing and I was getting ideas already, the dress was so Lynn. But white with her pale skin did kind of clash a bit. But the jeweled belt was adorable and I knew where she could get jewelry to match. Pretty much I was sold on the dress, but it wasn’t my choice.

“Oh my Goddess, Lynn you look incredible,” Auri said pulling her in front of the mirror. “Yeah you’re pale but we could spell you or spray tan.”

“She’s right Lynn, that dress is so great on you,” I agreed.

“I’ll agree too,” Poppy said. “Ya know you could just get it dyed an off white color or something.”

“I do like this, but I don’t know,” she said looking at herself in the mirror. “I’m thinking I would look weird with a tan anyway so I could just do like a pale rose, even though I’m so against pink. But for one day I’m going to be very girlie.”

“Sounds amazing and Sebastian told me to make sure you got whatever you want no matter what the cost is,” I told her.

“This is the dress,” she smiled in the mirror. Wow this was my little sister and I saw her the day she was born and now she was getting married.

“Kenz are you planning my wedding too?” Auri asked while looking through the other dresses on the racks.

“Uh you have bridezilla written all over you,” I said.

“Maybe her specialty is just shotgun weddings, I still think it’s like totally trashy,” Lynn said still looking in the mirror.

“At least you have a wedding date; I don’t even know when I’m getting married. Or really if I want to,” Auri sighed.

“If you don’t want him I’ll gladly take the hottie doctor,” Poppy said.

“Hands off skank he’s mine, I didn’t say I don’t want be with him, it’s that I don’t know about marriage. The whole thing is so finale around here and its not like we’ve dated or anything, casual sex doesn’t usually turn into life long partnership,” she said.

“Javi and I never dated,” I said.

“Yeah but he creepily stalked the hell out of you. Sweetie him coming into your room at night that’s sooo weird I don’t even wanna think about it,” she said. Then she took another dress into the dressing room.

“He stalked you? I never heard this; I thought you didn’t know how he felt?” Poppy asked, she was always quite nosey.

“Do tell, I want to hear this,” Lynn said coming away from the mirror.

“Nothing to tell really, he just use to watch me sleep sometimes,” I said feeling heat rise in my cheeks. “And maybe he sniffed my hair a few times. But it was just that he couldn’t afford to be with a 16 year old. So I didn’t exactly know how he felt, but I would sometimes pretend to be asleep to see what he would do. He felt guilty for desiring me and when I was gone he couldn’t really deny what he felt so he found me.”

“Stalkerlicious,” Poppy laughed.

That’s kind of cute,” Lynn said. “Bastian avoided me like the plague when he found out I was 17, not my fault he never asked before having me over for a drink. And he still didn’t ask when he got me in his bed and was feeling me up.”

“When did you tell him?” Poppy asked.

“Um when I had to get up for school in the morning and he was pissed. I don’t do rejection as you can see, and how do I get repaid? Knocked up, and the funny thing is I didn’t want to have sex with him at first because he wouldn’t use a condom.”
“They or I guess we, don’t believe in birth control of any kind. It’s hammered into your head around here,” I told her.

“Not everyone follows that, if they did there would a lot more children in this town. Before I ever had sex with Vince I told him he needed to get tested for diseases. I don’t know where his nasty behind has been,” Auri said when she came back out. This dress was strapless and knee length in the front and floor length in the back.

“I thought the wolves were immune to STDs?” Poppy asked sounding a bit concerned.

“They are, but who knows if the diseases mutate, have you seen how skanky she-wolves can be? And since we’re basically human we can catch stuff,” she said. “I’m bored of this; let’s do lingerie since Lynn found a dress.”

Lynn and Auri went to get dressed so we could leave. I had half a million things to do for this wedding. My wedding was kind of a quickie thing too so I knew how hectic this was. Of course it was my mom and aunts that wanted to plan everything for me. I envied Auri having so much time to make decisions; I wish I’d had that time. But I don’t regret marrying Javier even if it happened fast and we didn’t get to know each other as a couple first. Sometimes I wonder if things would be different between us had we had the luxury of time, or if we weren’t immediately faced with life or death decisions. Yup I was pretty envious, but I wasn’t going to say anything about that. Auri is spoiled and bratty and demanding, the curse of being the youngest of too many siblings to count. Instead of further dwelling on things I had no control over, I decided to just be productive.

Everything was moving so fast, Mackenzie was an amazing wedding planner. Today already Lynn sampled food, picked a cake design, met with the florist and got samples for invitations. None of that was as hard as it would be to tell her mother she was pregnant. Thankfully Mackenzie the supportive was with her and so was Eden. She had been assisting with the wedding plans and wanted to lend her moral support. Plus this would be the first time both of Mackenzie’s mothers would come face to face. Maybe that would distract her mother a little?

Telling her mother that already didn’t approve if her marriage this just wasn’t going to go well. Lynn knew this, and she knew what her mother and the rest of the family would think. That was why she didn’t want to tell anyone. The Alonso clan seemed to all be happy for her; everybody wished her and Sebastian well. To her family this would be just what it kind of seemed like, that she was getting married because she happened to be pregnant. But that wasn’t true; Sebastian wanted to marry her before they knew. Tomorrow she was going to go to the doctor and she was scared out of her mind. Not only was she having twins, she was a human having a wolf’s babies, it sounded like a bad plot in a sci-fi movie.

They were having a late lunch in the courtyard at Moon Magic, were she would have her reception. It was a very nice courtyard. It was a very big courtyard, with a water fountain and a bar and a view to die for. The fact that all this was in the back of a restaurant in a strip mall seemed impossible, but it did occur to her that Loraine was a witch. So maybe this was all done by magic? No matter how it came to be it would be a nice place to have her wedding.  But none of which helped with her nerves or the tension.

“So have you thought anymore about the favors?” Mackenzie asked in an obvious attempt to break the long silence.

“I trust your judgment, honestly I never pictured what my wedding would be like,” Lynn aid.

“I’m thinking we could do something with shells since it’s a Mediterranean theme and I know where to get a shell necklace that would match your dress,” she said.

“You’ve already found a wedding dress?” Rose asked her daughter.

“Oh yeah, I didn’t expect to find anything but I fell in love with it,” Lynn said. Was it her or did everything smell weird? She was starting to feel sick.

“And you’re helping her Mackenzie?” Rose asked and Mackenzie nodded. “I find it odd that you two complete strangers spend so much time together and are so close so quick. Much like my daughter was with Evalinda before she was taken away.”

“Mom, please don’t start this,” Lynn sighed.

“It’s ok Lynn, I think someone should tell her the truth since your father finds it impossible to do so,” Eden said. Until that moment she’d mostly been silent.

“What do you know about my husband?” Rose asked suspiciously, it was the first time Lynn ever witnessed her mother show a little backbone.

“I know that instead of telling you the truth about what happened to your daughter 22 years ago he’s let a lie get out of hand,” Eden said. “The truth is that the child you gave birth to died and Richard accepted my baby to pass as yours. I was 16 and couldn’t take care of Mackenzie, so I thought allowing her to go into a loving home would be best. Never did I imagine you people would lose her.”

“Mom, are you sure you want to go down this road?” Mackenzie asked her mother who nodded.

“What are you talking about?” Rose asked looking at the three of them like they were crazy.

“That is the truth; do you not see that my daughter looks almost exactly like me? Most of your children are blond and fair skinned; Mackenzie has chocolate brown hair, tan skin and eyes like her father. This is the truth and I wanted my daughter back but before I could come for her she was taken from your home. I never got to see her until she was 16,” Eden said.

“My God, it’s true isn’t it?” Rose asked after letting it sink in a minute. “She never looked like us, there was always something different about her and that explains the DNA test. Why didn’t you just tell me this Mackenzie?”

“For your safety and because you’d already involved the police, the man who took me away is a very bad person and telling you would get you hurt. Nobody can know about this, that’s why you really need to tell Mercedes to stop her investigation. I’m sorry that I’m not your daughter and you’ve been hurting but I had no control over what happened,” Mackenzie said.

“Evalinda you knew this?” Rose asked and Lynn nodded. “Well you two were always close.”

“Mom I couldn’t tell you, I made a promise to Mackenzie,” Lynn said. She stared down at her plate wondering why she was eating a strawberry chicken salad, this would normally disgust her.

“There you are Lynn!” Someone said excitedly when they came through the door. It was Ana, she had a big smile and Lynn was sure she knew why.

“Hi,” Lynn said and Ana hugged her.

“I’ve been out of town a few weeks but Sebastian told me the news and I rushed home. Are you feeling ok? This is such amazing news,” Ana squealed. Then she looked around the table. “You must be Lynn’s mother; I’m Annalia Alonso Sebastian’s mother.” She extended her hand and Rose shook it. “Are you excited for the new addition?”

“Excuse me?” Rose said standing up furiously. “Evalinda are you pregnant?”

“Oh I’m so sorry, I thought you knew,” Ana apologized.

“It’s ok,” Lynn said. “Yes mother I’m pregnant, with twins.”

“I knew there was a reason you were so eager to get married, you lied to me,” Rose said.

“She didn’t lie,” Mackenzie said. “She just didn’t know.”

“Somehow I always knew this would happen to you,” Rose shook her head and sat back down.

“I’m sorry to have ruined the surprise and your lunch, but I do have to run. We’ll have to talk later Lynn,” Ana said. “Oh Eden, might I have a word with you privately?”

“Sure,” Eden said following Ana back inside.

“Mom I’m not marrying Sebastian because I’m pregnant, I love him. We were already planning to get married,” Lynn said.

“This is my fault,” her mother said. “I let him send you away when I knew you just needed more love and attention. But I thought it would be better than where he wanted to send you. And I was going to let him marry you off to one of his friends, all this time he lied to me. It’s what I deserve after what I did.” She seemed to be talking mostly to herself.

“What are you talking about?” Lynn asked she looked at Mackenzie who shrugged. Rose never behaved like this, it seemed like she was close to a breakdown.

“I did something about 19 years ago, I fell in love with a man I who wasn’t my husband,” she said. “He wanted to marry me and was willing to take care of my children; all I had to do was leave. I was set to do it then my parents found out, they made me understand that I couldn’t leave Richard. And they sent me and all the kids away while my father had a talk with the only man that ever made me happy; when we came back he was gone. I never even told him I was pregnant and Richard forgave me and he said he would treat you as if you were his own. But he couldn’t handle your behavior and wanted you out of our house so you weren’t influencing anyone else. He wanted to send you to some reform school or something; I knew I would never see you again if he did.”

Rose hid her face in her hands while she cried. Both Lynn and Mackenzie stared at each other, it was true. That was why Mackenzie had those visions, Lynn had a different father. After years of wishing for new parents it appeared that she halfway got her wish. It did explain the way Richard behaved around her and the things he said to Sebastian. He just thought of her as the product of his wife’s deception and wanted any man to take her so he didn’t have to worry about her. And it didn’t surprise her that he would want to give her to one of his gross old religious crazy friends. Every minute it seemed like her life was more and more like a mix between a sci-fi and a Lifetime movie. Now the possibility that she was really a vampire was most likely, and she knew Mackenzie was thinking the same thing.

“So my whole life you and your husband have treated me like garbage because you’re a s**t who cheated on her husband? That wasn’t my fault; I didn’t ask to be born. All this time you made me feel unwanted and unloved and like something was wrong with me. It was really just you,” Lynn said. She was royally pissed and her mother’s pathetic tears only made her angrier.

“I always loved you, but you just reminded me so much of him, down to the sun allergy,” Rose cried.

“Good Goddess,” Mackenzie hissed.

“What is his name?” Lynn asked, this was a startling revelation. What if she really was a vampire? Then what would that make her babies?

“Brice Wakefield,” Rose told her. “But he doesn’t know about you and I have no idea where he went.”

“Know what mother? Don’t come to my wedding and don’t come near me, I have a family that loves me now. You disgust me, I never want to see you again,” Lynn stood.

“No, please I know it’s my fault. And you’re in this situation because I didn’t give you the love you deserved and it’s my punishment for what I did. But please Evalinda, I didn’t mean for this to happen,” she cried.

“I know the concept of someone loving me is ridiculous to you, but Sebastian loves me and I love him. We are getting married because we love each other and we are starting a family together. You are weak and pathetic and have always spited me because I won’t lie down and do what others tell me, I’m nobody’s doormat. I hope you’re happy with your disgusting husband, he doesn’t love you, all you are is his possession. Did you ever wonder what he’s doing on all those long trips? Or more like who? You’re so naive and so stupid,” Lynn said furiously.

“Lynn,” Mackenzie said. “Let’s go, I don’t want you getting too worked up its bad for the babies.”

“Fine,” she followed Mackenzie back into the restaurant. Everything was definitely going to change now. Would Sebastian even really want to be with her if she really was a vampire?

“Don’t worry about a thing, I’ll take care of you,” Mackenzie said putting her arms around her. “And I’ll tell Javi to find this man so we can get to the truth.”

“Isn’t the truth obvious? I’m pale and allergic to the sun, it’s true,” she said dazed.

“If it is, then we’ll deal with it as a family. You have family, we will never turn our backs on you Lynn, no matter what,” Mackenzie assured her.

“Yeah,” she whispered. Now she really felt sick and a little dizzy and knew a migraine was coming on.

Nothing made sense anymore. Sarah wanted to believe all of this was just a bad dream, but she remembered the pain. And she remembered Tyson, he wasn’t human. Why of all the guys in the world did she have to fall for a monster? He had horns, it was weird she never noticed them before. And why did he have to treat her so well? It just made this harder. She was in a house surrounded by people who weren’t human and her little sister was pregnant with non-human babies. This made no sense.

Then again Tyson had seemed too good to be true so she should have expected something crazy to happen. Never in her wildest dreams did she think this would be the crazy thing. She should have known since he was sinfully gorgeous in an almost impossible way. But she still couldn’t figure out why he seemed to care about her and refused to have sex with her. It was weird and they’d had an argument over why he was so hot and cold the morning she was attacked. What kind of man human or not wouldn’t want to be intimate with someone he was dating? She’d foolishly been thinking of him as her boyfriend, but they never did more than kiss in almost 2 months. Maybe since he was a demon his body parts were different? That would explain why he wouldn’t even shower at her apartment.

Speculating wasn’t getting her anywhere; neither was hiding out in Mackenzie’s guest room. Javier said it was unsafe for her to return home, but she didn’t even know why.  If she was honest with herself she felt safer here with the guards than at home alone. At least Mackenzie wasn’t going to let anything happen to her and Lynn was staying here too. But the possibility of her becoming a werewolf was just not acceptable. Neither was Tyson being camped outside of her door. So against her better judgment she got up and opened the door. He was sitting on the floor leaning against the wall looking depressed and pathetic. His eyes were closed until she stepped out into the hallway; he stared at her with those blue-grey eyes and then looked away.

“I’ll get out of your way,” he said getting up.

“I think we need to talk,” she said and he stared at her. “Come in before I change my mind.” He followed her back in and closed the door.

“Sarah, I’m so sorry, I knew better than to get involved with anyone. But you were different and I’m sorry you got dragged into this,” he said.

“It wasn’t your fault I was attacked,” she said.

“I should have protected you, if I had been honest with you about what I am you might not have run off,” he said. It was pretty clear that no matter what she said he was going to feel guilty, that actually made her feel horrible.

“Stop, I don’t blame you for that, but I am still shocked. So I want you to explain to me what you are, Mackenzie tried to tell me some things but I need to hear from you,” she said.

“Well if you want me to start at the beginning, a long time ago a group of demons decided to create a more powerful race of demon. So the fire and rage demons breed together to create hybrids and after a few centuries they got their wish. That’s how we came to be, my mother is a demon. She was married and had a son, and then her husband was killed in battle. Sometimes demons fight a lot so most of us are trained warriors. Anyway after she lost her husband my mother ran away from home with my brother. At the time she was very young, 18 or so I think. Some humans took her in, they were what you would call today Native Americans. That’s where she met my father and they got married and he raised my brother as his child and they had me. We were happy until my grandparents found us and took us back home; they found a new husband for her.

“My grandparents were concerned about me because unlike the other demons I was born without horns. They thought I might be human so they wanted to send me back to my father, but my mother couldn’t let that happen. So she agreed to marry the man they choose because he promised to keep me and treat me and Orion like his own sons. Eventually the horns did grow in but I’m still thought of as the human. My kind don’t exactly mate with humans, its frowned upon but it does happen. Usually when it happens the child is born with horns, the demon genes are supposed to be very dominate. That’s pretty much it that’s how I can to be,” Tyson told her.

“Wow, so how old are you?” Sarah asked, it surprised her that he laughed.

“Eventually you stop counting but I’m something like 250 years old, I’m a little younger than Maddox,” he said.

“Mackenzie’s father is more that 250 years old? How is he still able to have children? And you, I thought you were like in your thirties, no wonder you never told me your age,” she said completely shocked.

“Well we live pretty long and aren’t bound by human genetics and my people tend to have a lot of children. Mackenzie was Maddox’s first child; he’s only ever had children with Eden. Any other questions?” He asked, he seemed to relax a little more and she actually was interesting in learning about him.

“The reason you would never do anything sexual with me, is it because you look different down there than humans do?” She asked with red cheeks, he just laughed.

“That isn’t why, as far as I know my parts are the same as a human male,” he said in obvious amusement.

“So it was just that you didn’t want to be with me like that, right? I can handle the truth,” she said. Normally she wasn’t insecure with men, but Tyson’s behavior was just so odd.

“No, it wasn’t you Sarah, it was me,” he got up from the bed and stared out the window. “I wanted to be with you like you wanted, but I didn’t want to embarrass myself. Um I don’t tell many people this but I don’t have any sexual experience with females.”

“Does that mean you’ve only been with men?” She asked not knowing what to think of that.

“No, I like females and only females, I’ve just never gone pass kissing,” he said.

“Are you joking? How can a guy like you be a virgin?”

“Well it’s pretty easy when you’re a solider for a long time and when you are as human as I am. Somehow my father’s genes were more dominate than my mother’s so the demonesses fear that if I got them pregnant they would have human children, which is shameful. And well in the past with human females my horns came out when I got um excited and once it ended in near death I gave up. Sarah you are the first female I’ve attempted to have a relationship with in over 100 years. But don’t pity me, I can accept the hand fate had dealt me,” he said.

“Oh Tyson, I feel horrible for the things I said to you. Why wouldn’t you just tell me about all this?”

“Because I feared the look on your face when you saw me for who I truly am. A monster is what I am and that will never change.”

“Can you blame me though? I was in shock and Mackenzie was doing magic and my little sister is pregnant by a werewolf, it was too much,” she told him. He nodded and walked back to the door.

“I think I should just leave you alone, it’s for the best,” he said. The hurt in his voice was unmistakable; he was in love with her.

“No wait,” she said unsure if she should do this. “I can’t believe I’m saying this but I think you should stay.”

“I’m not leaving the grounds; I have to be here it’s my job. But I promise to keep my distance,” he said.

“Tyson what I meant was stay with me,” she said and he stared at her.

“Sarah, I’m a demon and I know that doesn’t fit into your life,” he said.

“It doesn’t, but I heard somewhere fate chooses our destinies and it had to be fate that we bumped into each other at the mall. So now that we don’t have any secrets I think we can move forward, together.” Sarah was positive she’d hit her head or something because this was completely insane, but Tyson was a great guy even if he was part demon.

“I can’t give you what you want sexually or anything that you’re use to,” he said looking ashamed.

“Not everything is about sex,” she shrugged.

“Are you sure this is what you want?”

“Yes, I’m opening my mind to this new world around me.”

“Sarah, I’m not sure you know what you’re getting into.”

“Tyson, can you just get in this bed with me? I’m in need of a bit of rest and I’m tired of being alone,” she told him. With a bit of hesitation he gave in and came to hold her, like he use to before everything got crazy.

“Is it ok for me to tell you I have very strong feelings for you?” He asked, that actually made her smile.

“Yes, because so do I and now I guess your hot and coldness makes sense. Didn’t you want to try things with me?” She asked, before she felt like he just didn’t want to be with her or he had someone else.

“There were many times when I wanted to experience things with you, but it’s very embarrassing for someone as old as I am to never have been with a woman. What if I did something wrong? Talking about this with you is very difficult for me,” he told her.

“But you have to if we’re going to make this work,” she said. “So in the past if you were aroused your horns came out, but they never did with me.”

“That’s not exactly accurate, I would just move away from you so I could get myself under control. You made it very difficult to hide them; I was almost ready to saw them off just so I could be near you,” he admitted. “But my mother would never forgive me for that.”

“Can I see them?” She asked, at this point it was impossible not to be curious.

“They don’t exactly come out on demand,” he said.

“How can you hide them anyway?” She asked while running her fingers through his hair, she could feel them.

“Magic, it helps to blend in when you have a witch as your queen.”

“Queen? You have royal demon families?”

“Yes, Maddox is our king and Eden is our queen, and technically Mackenzie is the heir,” he explained.

“Wow there are just a million things I don’t know about in this world,” she shook her head. “That’s why you guard her?”

“Yes, and since you know she has a history with being kidnapped and because she’s the Alpha wolf’s mate. We must be good at this because so far despite all the reasons people want to kidnap her, she’s still here,” he said.

“My adopted sister is a witch and a psychic and a demon princess who married to the leader of the wolves that just sounds way too unbelievable. Then again I’m in bed with a demon solider,” she said.

There was movement under her hand that was still touching his horns. Smooth cool and black Tyson’s horns stood up and all she could do was stare. Why did she have the urge to stroke them? How bizarre was that? And did Tyson just moan a little?

“Guess its true,” he whispered so low she almost didn’t hear. He sat up and removed her hands from his horns then got up.

“Did I hurt you or something?” She asked concerned by his behavior.

“No, but touching my horns can be a sexual thing. I never experienced it before but it’s true what they say,” he said.

“Oh you got hard?” She asked laughing, but he was obviously embarrassed.

“I should go,” he said moving towards the door.

“Why? A girl likes to know she has that effect on a guy she likes. How did you get me to go out with you? Sorry sweetie but your inexperience shows, I think it’s cute,” she told him. “Come back to bed, I want to see what I can do to you.”

“Sarah, I would prefer not to humiliate myself further, I would love to have just a little dignity left,” he replied.

“Stop being embarrassed then, I don’t care if you are inexperienced, everybody starts out that way. Trust me I have enough experience for the both of us,” she said. Maybe that didn’t come out exactly the way she wanted it to.

“You have been with a lot of men?” He asked hesitantly, yup she should’ve kept her big mouth shut.

“Well a few here and there, most of them were boyfriends and it’s been awhile anyway,” she shrugged trying to play it cool. His expression changed so she worried what he was thinking. “Really, I’m not a s**t if that’s what you’re thinking.”

“No, I was thinking that I don’t like the idea of you with anyone else,” he confessed.

“Really? Usually guys only care about who I’ve been with in the past so they know I don’t have an STD,” she laughed. He didn’t. “I don’t, wow I see joking with you about sex is pointless.”

“Sarah, I care for you, I want you to be mine and no one else’s,” he said.

“Ok I’m all for an exclusive relationship, especially considering how sexy you are and how women look at you. But I do have a request that I guess I shouldn’t make, but I will,” she said unsure.

“Go ahead make your request, so I can say yes,” he said and she smiled.

“When we do have sex, because we definitely will whenever you’re ready, um I just want you to be honest with me. It’ll be a new thing for you and if you want to go experiment with others I understand, but can you just break up with me first?” She felt completely insecure and stupid for saying it, but she was sick of getting her heart broken.

“Oh Sarah,” he kneeled in front of her and took her hands. “Nothing in the world could make me cheat on you or hurt you in anyway. I need you to know that and I don’t care if we never get to know each other intimately, as long as I can have you.”

“Is this what they teach you in demon school? How to be the perfect guy?”

“No, they teach reading, writing, math and occasionally exotic languages like human English,” he shrugged.

“English is an exotic language? That’s funny,” she said. “Tyson, are you sure about this? Because I don’t know now I’m getting cold feet.”

“I said the wrong thing,” he sighed. “I am sorry I just wanted to tell you what I felt but maybe it wasn’t best.”

“Its not that, it’s just that I kind of feel like I don’t deserve you or like I might corrupt you or something. I mean you wanted to saw off your horns for me, it sounds kind of serious,” she said. What was wrong with her? Words just kept coming out of her mouth, the most perfect man in the world basically professed his love and she was backing out?

“Well yes it is a serious thing, they would grow back eventually, but I would do anything for you,” he said. Everything he said seemed to just come out easy like it wasn’t something he had to think about at all. Yup all signs pointed to love.

“Tyson, do you love me?” She asked and watched the shocked expression on his face. This time it took him a moment before he could speak.

“If I say that I believe I do, would you be upset with me?”

“No,” she said. What was she supposed to do now? Men who said they loved her always hurt her, but Tyson was different in everyway.

“Your eyes say something different; do you not want me to love you? I would do anything for you, but I can’t stop loving you,” he said. “If you want me to leave I understand, it’s probably for the best anyway.”

“Will you stop being sooo understanding and sooo sweet, you’re making this impossible. And don’t you dare apologize again, you’re just too perfect,” she said throwing herself back on the bed.

“Would you prefer something else?” He asked, it surprised her when he was suddenly on top of her. “Maybe I was just brought up different than humans, I prefer to be respectful. But some females like aggression, is that what you prefer?” Before she could answer he kissed her long and hard.

“What would you like to do to me, right now? Just tell me whatever it is even if you think saying it will offend me.”

“Well I think I would like to taste you.”

“Taste? Oh are you serious?” She was very excited when he nodded. “Well I suppose if you really want to you can. I think its time you gain some sexual experience.”

“I agree,” he said while pulling her sweat pants off. He paused studying her thong like he’d never seen one before, then he pulled it off too. One thing Sarah knew for sure was that he was a natural at pleasuring her body.

“Are you going to be ok?” Sebastian asked. Lynn was curled up with her head in his lap and had barely stopped crying.

“No,” she whispered. He just kept trying to soothe her. “What if it’s true?”

“It won’t make much of a difference, stop worrying our children will be perfect,” he assured her.

“Sebastian I might be a freaking vampire! How will this ever be ok? It probably would be best if we didn’t have children until we know what I am,” she said. Why did she have to say things that pissed the wolf off?

“How can you say something like that? I would love our children no matter what,” he said trying to control his anger. She looked up at him and stared.

“I’m sorry; I didn’t mean I would do anything. Why do you have to go all wolfy when my life is a crisis?”

“Because you’re talking about my children Lynn,” he growled. “You were fine with me being a wolf and Mackenzie being half witch half demon, but you are appalled by the thought of not being human. Why are you even with me? We seem to disgust you.” He knew he should just keep his mouth shut, but after listening to her cry about this all day he couldn’t.

“God, Sebastian why are you being like this? All I wanted to do was vent my frustration and instead of being the supportive fiancé you are being mean,” she grumbled.

“It’s not mean, I’m being honest and maybe you should be too. So what if you’re part vampire it changes nothing you’ll live the same life you always did. I would love you no matter who or what you are, but I can’t be with you if you think you’re too good to be like us. After all the things that have happened to me in the past I can accept who I am, but I can’t be with someone who doesn’t,” he said. He got up from the bed, the last place he wanted to be right now was at his brother’s house.

“Sebastian you are jumping to crazy conclusions, I never said I don’t accept what you are.  Honestly I don’t think too much about it, I love you. But you’ve known you were a wolf your whole life, so you can’t imagine what I’m feeling. And on top of being a nervous wreck about being pregnant and not knowing if I’ll actually have these babies I have to worry about what they will be. What am I supposed to do if they want to bite people and drink blood?” She was so upset, he felt horrible.

“I’m sorry, maybe I’m just hearing the wrong thing because it’s hard to believe you’re really going to marry me,” he said. He went back to sit beside her and hold her.

It was partially true what he said, it was hard for him still. But he did feel like she didn’t want to truly be in his world. What he needed to focus on was her and keeping stress out of her life instead of creating it. Too much was going on, he needed to run. On top of Lynn’s family drama and the drama with his family, he was having weird nightmares. So he wasn’t sleeping much and he was worried about Lynn after what happened to Sarah. What if that had been her? She spent a lot of time with her sister; she could have been there too. And he was still wondering why Sarah would be attacked, it made no sense.

“Bastian, I love you and I’m not going anywhere,” Lynn whispered.

“I know and I love you too. Please don’t worry about this no matter what I am here for you and nobody will think differently of you,” he told her.

“Um the wolf, he thinks of our babies as his too?” She asked hesitantly.

“He and I are the same, like two halves of a whole. And he would never let anything happen to you or our children,” he replied.

“Bastian, what if I start wanting to drink blood or something?” She asked, he couldn’t help but to laugh.

“I’m sorry to laugh but just the thought of that amuses me, don’t worry we could buy blood or you can bite me. Since I know you like to bite me anyway,” he said.

“You aren’t funny,” she glared at him. “I hate that I’ve become so weepy and whiny lately.”

“Hormones, it happens when you’re pregnant,” he said rubbing her belly. If she was a vampire even just a little bit it meant he wouldn’t have to be too worried about her giving birth.

“Does it make sense if I say I want to have your babies I just want to skip the fat miserable pregnant part?”

“Yeah it does, remember I have lots of siblings and lots of nieces and nephews, I’ve heard that type of thing before.”

“We’re getting married so soon,” she said thoughtfully.

“Having second thoughts?”

“No, it just happened so fast, everything happened fast,” she said.

“True, but even if I couldn’t marry you for years I would still want you.”

“How did you know I was meant to be yours?”

“When I saw you sitting up on the washing machine in the laundry room and you took my breath away, I knew something was different. Believe it or not a woman couldn’t get a rise out of me at all until I saw you, so I knew I was in trouble. Then you showed up in your mini skirt and skin tight top, and we got to know each other a bit. It was when I tried to keep away from you but couldn’t stop thinking of you that I suspected. And when you wouldn’t speak to me I was certain you were mine because I couldn’t function without you. We can’t forget the night I lost my mind and changed in front of you, the wolf fought so hard to get out and keep you there. Complicated isn’t it?”

“Very, and when I think back at my shameless pursuit of you I’m kind of embarrassed. Coming to your door in just a coat with my skankiest lingerie was pretty bad, but it did get you to let me in,” she laughed.

“Because you threatened to get naked and sit out there until I let you in,” he replied. “You came in dropped the coat and sat on my counter drinking, I’m lucky I wasn’t arrested.”

“I like to have a drink now and then so what and I really love me some sex. Speaking of…” She trailed off looking at him suggestively.

“Lynn, we probably shouldn’t because of the babies,” he said.

“Pregnant chicks have sex all of the time, I have it on good authority,” she replied pulling on his belt.

“Evalinda, do you ever get tired of getting your way?” He asked pulling her on to his lap.

“No and don’t call me Evalinda, I was never that girl that my parents wanted me to be. I’m just Lynn the vampire,” she said.

“What a cute little vampire you are, my vampire who walks in the sun. You fit right into this family full of genetic and logically impossible beings. And our wolf-vampire babies,” he said. Life was so random sometimes, his wife to be was possibly part vampire and it didn’t bother him at all. Everything he ever wanted was right here and he was terrified that something would happen to take it away from him. Like always.

“So how are you feeling today?” I asked Sarah when she came into the kitchen.

“Better,” she said smiling.

“You know the inconvenient thing about living with wolves, witches and demons is that we all hear very very well,” I told her. Instantly her cheeks were flaming red.

“Oh God, so you heard me with Tyson?” She asked and I nodded.

“Want something to eat?”

“I can’t eat when I know that everybody heard me moaning.”

“Honey, nobody pays it any attention at this point especially with Lynn and Sebastian. That girl can scream,” I laughed. “So I take it you’ve forgiven Tyson?”

“Yeah, I guess I overreacted but it was a little much. We had a long talk yesterday and I guess you could say we made up,” she said still blushing.

“Is dear Tyson still a virgin or did you take care of that?” I asked and she looked surprised. “Trust me when I say he didn’t want me to know he was.”

“Um he still is a virgin in some ways,” she said. “I take it you’re really close to him if he told you that.”

“Oh well see he’s like my dad’s best friend and well maybe my dad thought I ought to consider dating him. We just became really good friends,” I explained.

“Really your dad wanted you to go out with a guy his age?”

“Its not a big deal I was 16 then, my mom was 14 when she went to live with my dad,” I shrugged. To me at this point in my life things like that were just normal.

“Wow, that’s crazy, her parents were ok with her being with a man as old as him?” Sarah asked in shock.

“Well my grandmother dislikes my father so she wasn’t ok with it, but she was the one who sent her only child to live with a demon 216 years older than her. She was his mate and it was either send her to him or have to deal with him and his guards watching her. And he paid her a lot of money not to fight him. Sierra hates demons and in men in general so she couldn’t let any of them hover around her coven. It took my parents awhile to warm up to each other from what I’ve heard,” I told her.

“Fourteen and sent to live with a grown man, I would be terrified.”

“At first she was but he wouldn’t even sleep in the same bed as her. Plus she was busy being tutored and taught to be a queen so her life was very hectic. The demonesses hated that a teenage witch was with their king and even accused her of spelling him to fall in love with her. But they fell in love with each other about 6 months in. I was an accident, which would bother me expect it’s not a big deal and Noah took me by surprise too. If we used some form of protection I suppose things like this wouldn’t just happen,” I shrugged.

“Why wouldn’t you use protection?”

“Oh I guess Tyson didn’t mention that since you haven’t gone all the way. Um it’s a thing with the wolves and demons to not use any form of birth control, they don’t believe in it. Not that some people don’t violate those rules, but the majority don’t. How do you think Lynn got pregnant?”

I suppose I felt like a hypocrite, I was using birth control. Javier refused to talk about it, the whole thing upsets him. But I refuse to have another child right now and this is the only prevention I can trust. Using magic as my grandmother proved isn’t always an absolute problem solver. That was why I mostly did things without magic, what if one day I couldn’t do it anymore? In my opinion there isn’t anything wrong with birth control because maybe you just aren’t ready to start a family sometimes. I doubt fate would mind the delay a bit. Of course I’m not allowed to be open about my beliefs because I am the Alpha’s wife and Javier would kill me. I have to set examples even if I don’t want to and say things I don’t believe because it would be bad otherwise. Nobody wants to hear any too modern ideas; I swear they all live in the stone ages. So to keep from having more unnecessary drama in my marriage I just say this is what is believed and not that it’s my own personal belief. Still I feel like a hypocrite.

“Another issue to deal with later,” she shook her head. “I’m still not fully accepting her being pregnant, it’s weird with her never wanting to get married and never wanting kids. All that at once, but whatever if she’s happy.”

“She’s been so good for Sebastian, he’s had a very hard life,” I said.

“Lynn and Sebastian together just make no sense to me, I’ve worked with him for awhile and a lot of women threw themselves at him and he never looked at them. Then he magically finds my little sister?”

“It was fate, we don’t really choose for ourselves here but when the wolf finds his mate he can’t stay away from her no matter what, same goes for the demons.”

“This is all very confusing you know,” she said.

“Hello Ladies,” Javier said when he entered the kitchen. He wrapped his arms around my waist and kissed my cheek.

“Perfect timing Javi, we were just discussing how it can be confusing to um be dropped into our world. Any comments on how a transition can be made easier?” I asked him, he just rolled his eyes.

“It’s your job wife to help people with that and having material in print would defeat the purpose of living in secrecy,” he replied. “So I guess you and Tyson made up, huh Sarah?”

“Does everybody really know?” She asked with her cheeks red again, he nodded.

“See Kenz I told you the guest rooms need sound proofing,” he said.

“I will spell the rooms myself today,” I said. “Sarah you really weren’t that bad compared to Lynn and Sebastian, they are like freaking rabbits.”

“I take it that around here it’s just normal to talk about sex?” She asked.

“It’s mostly just in this family,” Javier said. “Imagine what Tyson has to deal with being around all these chattery intrusive females.”

“Hush or you won’t be seeing your female without clothes any time soon,” I told him and he pouted.

“I would love to have such a loving marriage someday,” Sarah sighed.

“Tyson hasn’t popped the question yet? Demons usually work faster than we do, they know sooner,” Javier said.

“Um yeah I doubt he would want to marry me, I mean really he could fine a better looking woman to be his wife,” she said. There was a pained look in her eyes that she tried to smile away but I knew she was tormenting herself.

“Are you insane?” Lynn’s voice came from the doorway. “Sarah he would be lucky to have you, you are beautiful.” She came in and sat down with Sebastian right behind her.

“I agree,” I said. “Not everything is about looks, it’s about love.”

“You can say that when all of you women around here are un-humanly beautiful, well now I get why. But its ok, I’m not dwelling here we’re just enjoying each other’s company,” she shrugged. I wanted to cry for her, it was obvious that she had been hurt before, maybe more than once.

“Sarah, I know you don’t really get all this stuff yet and I should mind my business, but he’s not going to be looking for anyone else. Once you know who your mate is there’s no amount of seeing other women that can get you out of his head,” my husband told her.

“And you would know,” I said.

“You were 16 I wasn’t going to start something with you,” he grumbled.

“Stalking me was very effective,” I replied.

“I couldn’t stalk you we lived in the same house,” he said and bit my shoulder.

“Anyway, Sarah he’s not going anywhere,” I said.

“It’s a nice thought but I’m not his mate or whatever,” she said.

“Give her time, she’ll understand it better,” Sebastian suggested.

“Forget me, Lynn how did your appointment go?”

“Oh ya know I’m approximately 12 weeks, surprise its twins and yeah nothing too exciting. Except that I guess I missed more pills than I thought,” Lynn shrugged. Sebastian kissed her shoulder, these days his hand permanently rested on her stomach.

“Or your birth control wasn’t working the way it was supposed to,” Javier said. “Sometimes it doesn’t work with our people.” He did not look at me when he said that.

            “Guess not,” she sighed.

“We looked at houses today,” Sebastian said. “She’s so damn picky.”

“Not picky, I just want certain things if I’m going to commit to living there and raising our children,” she said.

“Daddy could build you a house, he specializes in dream homes,” I said and Javier nodded.

“That would take too long, I want to be in there after we get married,” Sebastian said. “Unless it’s what you want Lynn.”

“I’m fine with just finding a house, we can build one later,” she said thoughtfully.

“I think I’m going to go lie down, I feel like a 5th wheel,” Sarah said.

“No worries I can fix that,” I said and she stared at me. “Tyson!”

“Princess,” Tyson grumbled when he appeared.

“Did I wake you?” I asked him, he shrugged so I kind of felt bad.

            “Did you need something?”

“Only to interfere in your life,” Javier told him.

“Sarah was feeling a little lonely,” I said.

“Is that right?” He asked Sarah whose face was completely red.

“I keep forgetting all of you can just appear like that,” she said.

“Not all of us can,” Javier said.

“You don’t have to stick around here for me,” Sarah told Tyson.

“I want to,” he said and kissed her. Lynn whistled at the hot kiss he was giving her sister, it was so strange to see. It was so un-Tyson-like.

“Kenzie, how are you feeling?” Javier asked suddenly studying me.

“Just peachy, why do you ask?”

“Because I think this house is going to need serious sound proofing tonight,” he said and I laughed.

“What you two are quiet in bed?” Lynn asked.

“No, she spelled their room,” Sebastian answered.

“Maybe,” I said and giggled when Javier squeezed me around my waist.

The six of us laughed and talked for awhile, it was nice to have grown up time. The girls came home just before dinner, that night I was having a big dinner completely catered by Stella and Loraine to celebrate their return. I loved my girls so much and having 5 kids made me wonder if I wanted more. Of course I couldn’t say that to Javier, he’d probably kill me. Maybe they weren’t all our birth children but the girls were ours.

Samantha, Julia, Jeana and Bella living had been living with us for the last two and a half years. They had to come live with us permanently because Sam started her transformation the day she turned 12 and now she is 14. It was against the laws of the pack to let humans raise one of their kind. The twins are 11 and almost at the age to change, Bella is only 8 so she still has a while. One of the few joys I had living in Zenis’ house was spending time with all the kids. I know my husband like his father, my father and even my grandfather wants a big family. Sometimes I feel selfish just for wanting simple things. But why should what I want take a backseat to what he wants?

When you grow up a prisoner even if you are treated like a member of the family more or less, you just don’t think too much of what the future holds. I wasn’t dreaming of weddings and children all those nights, I was praying that I would be able to escape. But of course it was hard to completely separate myself from the only family and friends I’d ever had, sometimes I think of how it might be wrong for me to be here. What sane person wants to be apart of the family where she was held against her will for 11 years? I know that it was Zenis’ doing and I know that he would have killed anyone who helped me escape, but still it’s a difficult situation. All of my life is a difficult situation. But my job is to smile and be strong and be happy because I am the Alpha’s wife.
