Chapter 20

“Are you crazy? How could you do that?” Sammie asked when they were alone.

“Says you that was so obviously making out with Evan, did he feel you up to? Are you still a virgin Sam?” Sugar asked, she was lying in her bed slightly annoyed. She had him, she seduced Ivan and they ruined it. After all the work she did for them they ruined her big moment.

“We were just kissing, which was your plan, wasn’t it?”

“Indeed, and you ruined my other plan. Now it’s going to be twice as hard to get him next time,” she sighed. At least she knew he wanted her, and that made all the difference.

“Sugar you were seducing our soon to be aunt’s twin brother at a party with all of our family, crazy much?”

“I’m in love Sam, I love him and he wants to love me too. But he feels morally obligated to stay away from me. Couldn’t you have just walked away?”

“Uh no, he could go to jail for touching you. Remember the evil step father?”

“Evil step fathers, plural,” she sighed again. “When he kissed me it was like nothing I’ve felt before. We are meant to be together even if maybe I’m a little younger, love knows no age. Besides Wildflower is 6 years younger than Uncle Nick. It’s almost the same thing. And he wanted me Sam, he admitted it.”

“Sugar, this is not ok. Jail, he could go to jail, do you want that?”

“Not if you and Evan don’t say anything, I could kill you for interrupting.”

“You don’t love him Sugar you just want him,” Sammie said. She was trying to be the voice of reason but it wasn’t really needed.

“Honey, I have been in love with him for a long time, it’s not about wanting sex. If I wanted sex there are his other brothers living here or I would just sneak out. But I am saving myself for him. Ephraim was once again staring me down trying to get me to want him; I have standards no matter how low they are. Desi can have his nasty a*s, he so cheats on her,” Sugar said.

“Do you really think you love him?”

“Not think Sam, I do love him and he has feelings for me he admitted it. Why should people not follow their hearts because of some laws set up be prudes?”

“Be careful,” Sammie said obviously giving up the fight.

“Always honey, so tell me about you and Evan and leave no detail out.”

“I was so freaked out when he wanted to talk to me but he told me he loves me. Then yeah made out, a lot and then we heard some noises coming from your room so we came to investigate. Never did I imagine that I would find you with Ivan,” Sammie paused staring at the floor. “Did he really say he wanted to be with you?”

“Yes, and I didn’t really seduce him, he wanted me. I’ll prove it to you but don’t tell anybody, I’m thinking he’s going to need a little space first.”

“He’s not that much older,” Sammie admitted.

“Exactly, and I’ll be 17 soon and it won’t be as bad,” she said. While she spoke she could hear the hopefulness in her own voice.

She was in love with Ivan and she did want to be with him. But if she was honest with herself this whole thing was like a day dream. There was no way he was going to want to be with her, for once she wanted more than sex and she wasn’t going to get it. If she managed to convince him to date her it was too dangerous. Her uncles would kill him and then cover it up. That wasn’t fair to Ivan and it really wasn’t fair to Wildflower, she already lost her sister, she didn’t need to lose her brother too. Why did she have to think responsibly the one time she wanted something so bad?

“Sam, I want him and I want to be with him but it is too risky. So I will wait until I am 18 and then nobody could come between us, that’s only a little more than a year. If he wants me then he can have me then,” she told her cousin.

“Good, it will be better this way and it wouldn’t kill him to wait.”

“Let’s talk about you and Evan at least that can happen. He was your first kiss right? You have to give me more details,” she said.

They laid in her bed while Sammie told her about making out with Evan. Sugar felt guilty that she knew what it was like to do more than make out with Evan, he was Sammie’s first big crush. How could she have known they liked each other before? Evan never once said a thing to her and they talked all of the time and they had sex a lot of times. But from what Sammie told her, he’d wanted her for years and that made no sense. Why wouldn’t he just go out with Sammie? Now she really needed to talk to Evan, something seemed so off about all of this. Why would you have sex with the girl you like’s cousin but not even try anything with the one you have feelings for?  This was all too much for her, but no matter what she wanted Sammie to be happy. Then the door opened and her mother stepped in.

“What do you want?” Sugar asked not bothering to be nice.

“I want to talk to you,” her mother said.

“I’ll leave you two alone,” Sammie said. She got up from the bed and headed out the door with a wave and a sympathetic look.

“If you want to tell me that I should take back what I said about your loser a*s husband then save your breath. What I said was true and I told you but God forbid you can about anyone but your self or your lying cheating husbands,” Sugar said. She did not want to deal with her mother today, she wanted to curl up in her bed with Ivan, but that wasn’t going to happen.

“I wanted to tell you that I am sorry that I didn’t believe you and I want you to come back home,” her mother said. That was a huge shock.

“Why? Will it make you look better if I come home?”

“No, I want to work things out with you and maybe we can go to family counseling or something to fix this.”

“Seriously?” She asked, since when did her mother care about her?

“Yes, I want to make things work between us,” Katrina said.

Katrina was looking around the room like she expected a man to jump out or something. Though Sugar hated to admit it she looked a lot like her mother, a bit more so now that her hair was dark, she got the blonde hair from her dad. Katrina ran him off years ago so she barely knew anything about him and for some reason he was supposedly not allowed near her or her brother. Not that it mattered nobody was going to be seeing her brother ever again. And then as if she could hear her thoughts, her mother picked up the picture beside her bed.

“There is no way in hell I can ever forgive you,” Sugar said suddenly angry. “You took him away from me and you let your husband rape me and then you let the other ones watch me. I hate you and I never want to see you ever again.”

“Sugar, I’m trying my best here I want you to come home.”

“No, I’m not going to live with you ever again. The only time in my life I have felt safe was when I wasn’t in your house. Just stay away from me,” Sugar told her. There were a lot of reasons that she could never forgive her mother. And she was never going to try. “Get out of my room.”

“Leave me alone Evan,” Ivan told his brother.

“I knew you wanted her,” Evan said and he laughed, again.

“I wasn’t thinking straight, but now I am and that will never happen again,” he said. But sadly he wasn’t so sure. “What were you doing with Sammie?”

“Not as much as you were with Sugar, we talked and we kissed not a big deal. Would have had sex with her?”

“Honestly I don’t know but I am not going to go down that road again,” he said. Why didn’t he believe himself?

“It isn’t that big of a deal and I’m sure she could satisfy you just fine,” Evan said and laughed. “I warned you and you didn’t listen. It’s your fault you were eye raping her when she was looking for her lip gloss.”

“Why was her lip gloss in your room anyway? She leave it the last time you had sex with her?”

“No, her and Sammie come in my room sometimes and they lay in my bed,” Evan shrugged. “We hang out because we are friends.”

“Did you get more friendly with Sammie?”

“Yeah, but it’s not like I’m going to have sex with her she is a virgin and she never kissed anyone before,” he said. It was weird that for once Evan was actually telling him something.

“One of the three of you need to leave this house, its not going to work,” Ivan told his brother. “You can’t stay in the same house with your girlfriend and you friend with benefits.”

“We are over and Sammie isn’t my girlfriend, we just made out,” Evan said. Why did he suddenly look a lot less happy? “She probably decided it was a mistake.”

“Why are you such a downer? That girl is completely in love with you I saw you with her the other day lying in the grass. I saw that picture you’re hiding on your phone, just go for it. You could take her out or something.”

“I don’t have money or a car,” Evan sighed.

“Yet you live in a mansion, that’s funny isn’t it?” He meant it as a joke but Evan was not amused. “I will give you a ride and I’ll give you money.”

“You gonna take Sugar out on a date?”

“Hell no, I am going to go tell her that what happened means nothing and it will not happen again. And you can come be my witness,” Ivan said. Yes that was the best thing to do, make it crystal clear to her.

He was not going to throw his life away for a little girl with a crush. So he was going to tell her that he didn’t feel anything for her and he never would and he just got caught up in the moment. Evan really had to go with him so that he could make sure he actually was going to say the right thing. Twenty-three years old and he needed his baby brother to baby-sit him, he was pathetic. And he was afraid of a sixteen year old girl; his life was a joke at the moment. Why did this girl have to look so much like a woman? Or maybe the question was why did he really wish she was a woman? Today was a really bad day.  Before he could get down the hall to speak with Sugar the door to Evan’s bedroom opened to reveal Sammie. He could hear yelling coming from down the hall.

“Katrina wants Sugar to move back to her house,” Sammie told them. She sat down on the bed and Evan went to sit beside her. “I hate that woman, I had just talked her into staying away from certain 23year olds that shall remain nameless and now she’s not going to be ok.” She looked up and glared at him.

“I didn’t mean for that to happen, we just got caught up,” he said lamely.

“Well you better go fix her, you so led her on,” Sammie said still glaring at him.

“I kissed her, I shouldn’t have but I did and I will tell her that it means nothing,” he said trying to act like an adult. His sister grew up and became responsible, why couldn’t he? For twins they weren’t much alike, not anymore and he never had anything in common with Daisy.

“Wait I thought she seduced you? You kissed her first?” Evan asked staring at him in shock.

“Oh she seduced me alright, but I did kiss her. Trust me she made it hard for me to say no to her and I did say no, a few times. But I will make it right,” he assured them.

“I know it’s not all your fault, she thinks she’s in love with you. And I shouldn’t tell you that but its true and you have to tell her to stop because obviously she’s going to get hurt. She can’t handle more hurt right now, I’m worried about her,” Sammie admitted. The look on her face just made him feel guiltier.

A door slammed and they say Katrina pass by in a hurry. So now he had to go break Sugar’s heart, how wonderful. Sammie gestured that he should go, so he did. Sugar was curled up in her bed crying, he couldn’t stand to see anybody cry. She looked up at him, with her tear streaked make up running down her face. This was a huge change from the girl that had been trying to seduce him. It just proved the point that she was an emotionally unstable little girl and he should have known better. He went to the dresser and picked up some tissue and took them to her.

“She threatened to have me arrested or something say that I’m a run away,” she said. “I hate her so much.”

“I’m sure good old Uncle Nick won’t let that happen,” he said hoping she might smile. She didn’t it just made her cry harder. “Sugar, my sister would not let that happen to you, she would probably kill your mother first.”

“Can you hold me for a little while? I swear I won’t try anything, I just really need a friend and you happen to be here,” she said. When she looked into his eyes looking so sad he couldn’t turn her down, even though it was the right thing to do.

“Sure,” he said and he laid down with her. This was very inappropriate but he couldn’t leave her like this, and he was sure that Sammie would stab him if he did.

“She deserved what happened to her, she’s a joke now,” Sugar said after awhile.

“Do you know how the story got out?” He asked because he was both nosey and curious.

“Yeah, Uncle Nick did it,” she said.

“What? Why would he do that?” He asked completely shocked, but he wasn’t sure why.

“Because she didn’t listen and pissed him off and they never wanted that loser in our family anyway. He asked me about him and I told him the truth and he said he was going to take care of it. I thought he would just bribe him to divorce her but nope she was mean to your sister so he thought it a fitting punishment for Katrina to be humiliated. Uncle Nick knows everything about everybody he digs into everybody’s lives, he doesn’t trust anybody,” she told him. Interesting.

“So wait he’s looked into Wildflower’s past?” He asked, now he was worried there were things he knew his sister wished she could forget. And he wished he could forget some of those things too.

“Yeah, it’s not a big deal he’s just paranoid. There’s nothing that could make him not love her,” she said. She gasped and sat up. “There isn’t anything that would make her look bad, right?”

“Um I can think of a few things,” he said. The look on her face made him worry.

“Oh no, this is not good, he’s not the only paranoid person in this family. Is it something that is really bad? Grandma is a b***h and so is Katrina and they want her gone. They would do anything to get rid of her,” she said. She was looking more concerned than he was.

“We had money problems and she did some things to get money,” he said. Somehow he always knew this was going to come out.

“I’m not going to let those witches hurt her, she’s the only person that has always loved me even though I’m a big mess. Well besides Sammie and Uncle Nick,” she sighed and laid back on her pillow.

“You have Evan,” he said and she laughed.

“He hates me sometimes and he should, I’m a horrible friend.”

“How did you get you know involved with him sexually?” Curiosity always got the better of him, it wasn’t his business,

“Oh that um we went to a party and I was really drunk and we just ended up together and we just did it whenever we were bored. Some of the times he definitely told me no but you saw I can’t listen to no, it’s another issue to work out in therapy,” she paused. “I’m sorry I attacked you, I’m just a big crazy mess.”

“It’s partially my fault, I didn’t really try that hard to get away from you.”

“Don’t worry I still want you, I’ll just get you next year when I turn 18. So you better not have a girlfriend then because well even if you do I’m going to have you. But see I’m being responsible,” she said and he smiled at her.

“Do you know you are crazy?”

“Yeah but I’m serious and I’m also going to seriously threaten that b***h Katrina. I know she’s going to try something, and he might kill her which would do me a favor.”

“He wouldn’t really kill her, right?”

“Uh he definitely would,” she paused. “Did she tell you what happened to me when I was little?”

“Yeah,” he nodded and he hated the look in her eyes. He felt so bad for this poor girl, no wonder she was so messed up.

“The guy that um did that, they almost killed him,” she said with a faraway look in her eyes. “My uncles I mean, my brother called them and they handled it and made sure he won’t hurt anybody else.”

“What happened to your brother?” He knew he shouldn’t ask but he had no self control apparently.

“I don’t know, I wish I did because I would go where ever he is. She made him leave, it was all her fault and it was her fault my dad left. I never really knew him because she chased him off, but I’ve always dreamed that my dad and my brother would come rescue me. Sadly that hasn’t happened but I’m stupid and I still wish for that,” she said. At that she started to tear up again and she buried her face against his chest and he held her.

“Maybe they will, its not a bad thing to hope for that. Evan was born after our dad died so it always bothered him not to know him, that’s why he’s Wildflower’s baby.”

“There’s nothing wrong with that because Sammie and I are too.”

“Yeah,” he said. He really needed to get out of her bed before somebody found them, but when he looked back down at her, she was asleep.

Jose was bored and even tormenting his cousin Liam was getting boring. It wasn’t his fault that Cheyenne still wanted him. He had better things to do, like seducing a really nice looking woman. Cody, this wasn’t really going to be a chore, he was willing to go for a little more than a one night stand. Nothing serious but if she was good in bed he wouldn’t mind a friend for a little while. Did his brother say something about her having a boyfriend? It didn’t matter he loved a challenge and he needed a new car. He could of course afford his own car but it was Nicky that made the most money.

His target was very pretty; she stood out in the crowd of his boring family. She had long auburn hair and a permanent looking scowl, she was watching people. That interested him; she was very tan, maybe biracial? Almond shaped hazel eyes and a pretty good looking body, he liked all types of woman he wasn’t that picky. He did like a nice behind, if Wildflower wasn’t marrying his brother he would have loved to have her. Those thoughts he choose to keep to himself, if Nicolas knew he would probably stab him through the heart. Since he wanted to stay alive and there were plenty of women to play with he tried not to acknowledge his soon to be sister-in-law’s attractiveness. Her friends he saw as fair game, they were very nice looking women.

“You look as bored as I feel,” he said to Cody.

“This is your family; shouldn’t you be happy to spend time with them?”

“No, related we may be but most of them hate each other, they just wanted to come here and gawk at Nicky’s bride. And most of them will hate her with no reason at all, like my mother and sister,” he shrugged.

“Which brother are you again?” She asked, it was the first time she actually really looked at him. Seemed like she was interested, that was good.

“The one without kids, Jose they call me sometimes,” he said and she gave him a half smile. Another good sign. “No need to introduce yourself, I know who you are. And I am very bored and I’m thinking you might want to ditch this party as much as I do?”

“What do you have in mind?” She asked, of course she was eager to get away from here nobody should have to spend time with his family.

“I know where they hide the good liquor,” he said and she smiled.

“Oh yes I think getting a little drunk would be nice, lead the way,” she said. It was almost too easy.

He took her up to his bedroom where he conveniently had a bottle of tequila and a bottle of vodka, courtesy of Nicolas’ private stash. Somehow the lock on the cabinet in his office got picked; Jose had no idea how that happened. All it took was a few shots some semi interesting conversation and she was ready to take off her clothes. Funny how liquor helped people to do things they normally would be afraid to do. She was drunk but he wasn’t, it wasn’t often that he got drunk. There was a video camera somewhere in his room and it happened to be on, how did that happen?

Interestingly enough she was the one who climbed on top of him and started kissing him, how could he turn her down? One thing he was good at was pleasing a woman. He pulled her dress over her head and she was anxious to get him undressed. Maybe she didn’t have a boyfriend after all; she seemed in need of some loving. So he made sure he took care of every inch of her body, being with a woman without breast implants was a nice change for him. After he worshipped her body with his tongue, he took her body. And that was when he really decided that this wasn’t going to be a one night thing.

Later that night after everybody had gone home and almost everybody in the house was in bed, Nicolas pulled Wildflower outside to her car. She drove the car once but they had sex in it at least 3 times. All night he’d been thinking of getting her out of this dress, and he was avoiding noticing his cousins checking out her cleavage. Knowing that once they left that he was going to have her kept him sane. He did not like having all of his family around, but now he knew they would show up randomly to be annoying now. That meant that maybe he needed to start locking the door or he needed to remove a few things from Wildflower’s wardrobe.

“I think I’m a little drunk,” she told him. Then she drank out of the bottle of champagne they brought out to the garage and giggled.

“Maybe a little,” he laughed. She was cute when she was drunk.

“Did I tell you I’m going out tomorrow with your cousins? It was Carmen’s idea, do you mind?” Of course he minded, he didn’t want her out where he couldn’t keep an eye on her.

“Go out and have fun, I swear I’m ok with it,” he lied. Telling her not to would be a bad idea and he would never have sex again. He trusted her, just not everybody else.

“Are you sure?” She asked watching him closely.

“I trust you and I’ll just have to get over my issues,” he said. That was true, but he knew he wasn’t going to get over those issues even though he wanted to. Her phone made a noise, and she pulled it out of her bra and started reading a text message.

“S**t,” she hissed and threw the phone on the seat. “We need to talk about something,” she said to him.

            “Ok, should I be worried?”

“Have you been digging into my past to find thing out about me?” She asked that was completely unexpected.

“Yes,” he said honestly. “Before you ask yes I did backgrounds on you and all of your family.”

“Why? What happen to trusting me?” She asked, this was a trap there was no right answer to this.

“It’s just a habit ok? I always do it when new people come into my life; it was when we first met. You know I trust you, you own my house.”

“Do you trust me?” She asked, she was the only person that could stare him down and she did it a lot.

“Yes, I trust you, who told you about that? Was it Jose?” He asked whoever told her he wanted to choke them.

“No, but I want to know what you know about me,” she said. What was that look in her eyes? It took him a few seconds to think about facts he picked up.

“Everything,” he told her. Some things he wished he didn’t know.

“Why didn’t you ever bother to tell me that?” She asked looking hurt.

“Because none of that matters, I love you and whatever happened in the past will stay there. Are you worried my nosey a*s family will find things out about you? I promise they won’t, I took care of it,” he shrugged.

            “What does that mean?”

“It means for the right price things just disappear like they never happened. My family can be vicious they would use any information they found about you against you and publicly try to embarrass you. I’m not stupid Katrina wants revenge and she’ll attack you because she thinks it’s easier. I told you I would take care of you and I am,” he said.

“I hate my life,” she said and laid her head on his shoulder. They were in the back seat and she was sitting on his lap, the sexy mood had long since passed. It took him a minute to decipher what she was feeling. Embarrassment?

“You were what 18 and you wanted to take care of your family because you mother couldn’t, it’s not that big of a deal. Well I would prefer no man to ever look at you but since I can’t have my way and I know you’ll never strip again, unless it’s for me, everything is fine,” he told her.

“Want to hear something funny?” She asked and he just nodded. “I mostly did it for Daisy, her funeral put my mother in debt and well all of that put her in the hospital. And I couldn’t bare it if she didn’t have a gravestone. Ricky said he would take care of it but he’s been taking care of us forever and he really didn’t want me stripping. I only did it for a few months, until I thoroughly hated myself.”

“Baby, its ok it isn’t really that big of a deal it could be a lot worse. None of that matters to me, I love you and I know you wanted to take care of your family, I understand. It doesn’t make me think of you any differently,” he told her.

“Doesn’t it? That’s why you don’t trust me to go out,” she said looking offended.

“Actually that had nothing to do with it and I do trust you, I just don’t like men looking at you. But men are always looking at you, even in this damn house and especially at the party. You know I have anger issues, I’m just not use to you going out and Carmen is pretty crazy.”

“So you really know all my family’s deep dark secrets?”

“More or less, I just have to know things about people it’s always been that way. It was in fact the way I was raised, gathering information is always important, I told you that. My parents have been researching you since they found out about you and all they need to know is that you have been working hard to help your family and that’s the truth. The ‘how’ isn’t important,” he assured her. “So who told you about this?”

“Ivan, I went upstairs and I found him lying in bed with Sugar and after my stroke he explained that Katrina had upset her. He’s been so good to her, you know she doesn’t have many friends and the other girls are kind of mean to her,” she explained.

“Are you sure she’s not having sex with him?” He asked, with the day he was having it wouldn’t have been a surprise.

“Ivan is not that stupid and he wouldn’t lie to me and Sammie told me Katrina was up there and they were fighting. Apparently Katrina threatened to have her picked up as a run away if she doesn’t come home. I suggested that she try to talk to Sugar and apologize to her but that was obviously a bad idea,” she sighed.

“Yeah it was don’t ever trust a word Katrina says, she only apologized to you to keep you unguarded against her and think you are friends. Sugar will tell you that you can’t trust her, there is always a hidden agenda with her,” he warned.

“Can’t we just adopt Sugar and keep her away from Katrina? I’m really worried that she might really lose it soon.”

“I’ll see what I can do to keep Katrina away,” he said. If he could just toss his sister in a body bag it would make his life a lot easier and he was pretty sure that would cure all of Sugar’s problems.

“Guess I’m a buzz kill huh? We came out her to get naked and fog up the windows and make it smell even more like sex in here and I got all serious and depressing,” she said.

“Nothing could stop me from wanting you,” he said and took a drink from the bottle. “I want you every second of every day.”

            “Do you really?”

“Hell yes and I’ve wanted to get you out of this dress all day.”

“Or would it be hotter if I kept it on? I took my panties off before we came out here; I’m tired of you ripping them.”

“Maybe you shouldn’t wear panties, I need easy access,” he told her. She was undoing his belt and then did his pants all while looking him in the eyes.

“We need to calm down with all the sex before I get pregnant,” she warned.

“No, I’ll have sex with my woman as much as I can. It’s hard you know with all these people around here, in our business,” he said.

“We’ll see,” she said. She guided him inside of her body and worked her magic on him. And it was even sexy that she drank from the champagne bottle while she was riding him. Oh how he loved this woman. His woman.
