Chapter 3

Vince pulled into his driveway and sat a moment. He had a huge problem and he wasn’t making it any better. She was in his house, he could smell her. And that honeysuckle lotion she used, that he actually bought some of because it was like a drug when mixed with her skin. All week he expected her to leave and never come back but she didn’t. The trouble was that he knew who his mate was, he just couldn’t admit it. It was for the best really he’d never been faithful to one woman, so he was pretty sure he wouldn’t now. Even though technically he hadn’t even been out with any women in the last four months, for him that was very difficult. His life was boring, it was Saturday night and he had no plans. This never happened, lately he didn’t recognize himself.

Inside the house he was immediately hit with smells of all different types of food. In the refrigerator he found dishes of food that had different labels on them, there was a lot of food. Apparently his house guest had been cooking most of the day. He found her up in his bedroom on his bed. She sat cross legged typing on her laptop with books and notebooks spread out around her. Yup he was in love, he knew it because he couldn’t help but think she looked amazing with her messy ponytail and glasses perched on her nose. And she was wearing one of his t-shirts. This woman made him feel crazy.

“Honey, I’m home,” he said and she looked up.
“I made dinner, are you hungry?” She asked.

“Yeah I noticed you made a lot of food,” he said sitting on the bed. He kissed her cheek and was surprised that she let him.

“Boredom,” she shrugged. “How was work?”

“Ehh nothing too exciting, working the emergency room isn’t my idea of fun. But the hospital is short staffed and it’s apparently impossible to find a doctor nearby,” he sighed. Both Vince and Javier were not only working at a local family practice they were also working at the county hospital.

“Maybe I should have been a doctor,” she said thoughtfully.

“Nah its not you, lawyer is definitely you, since you love to argue. Anyway wanna eat with me? I’ve found that eating alone gets old pretty easily,” he said and she smiled.

“Go shower and I’ll heat something up,” she said closing her laptop.

“Auri, you’re the best,” he said.

“Remember that,” she said heading out the door.

There was no way he couldn’t think about her while he showered. All week they basically had no sexual contact and it was driving him crazy. Something about her had him feeling like crawling out of his skin. She consumed his thoughts like an obsession and it was weird how it just came on one day. He’d known Auri all her life because he was best friends with Javier, he never once thought about her like this. Not until Javier and Mackenzie’s wedding, he hooked up with her afterwards. For a long time after that he didn’t really see much of her, too much was going on. Then she moved out to the farm with Mackenzie, almost two years had passed before he saw her. By then every male in the pack wanted her because she was the Alpha’s sister. Vince hated to see the shameless males go after her constantly, so he distracted himself. No amount of bedding other women got her out of his mind. So instead of doing the smart thing and staying away he hooked up with her, again and again.

He should have known after Javier’s obsession with Mackenzie that it was coming for him. But she didn’t want a commitment and he was all too happy to stay unattached. And so what if he wished for two straight years that she was in his bed at night; that was just an irrational thought. The fact that he loved her was irrelevant; he was just going to end up hurting her, that’s what he did. He had one-night stands and occasional no strings attached sex, never relationships. How could he limit himself to just one female when there were so many others there wanting his attention? Being 2nd had its perks. Where Auri was concerned he would rather not have her then to hurt her by cheating. Besides Javier would really kill him for messing with his little sister’s head, which he deserved. The full moon would be coming in three more weeks and he couldn’t make a decision. Asking her to move in was a bad idea, but at the time he was very desperate.

Once he got out the shower and dressed in shorts he went downstairs. Having his female in his kitchen cooking for him made him feel things he didn’t want to decipher. She was his and he knew that more than he knew anything else. If only he could tell her he loved her without there being too many bad possible consequences, he would. After the full moon he had to let her go, for real this time. They ate dinner and she told him about her day taking the babies swimming and some research she was working on. Listening to her speak put him more under her spell, this was bad. He honestly didn’t know who he was anymore.

After dinner they curled up on the couch together watching a movie, Vince never did things like this. Holding her in his arms was torture, he just couldn’t have her. But he was pretty sure obsession and stalking was in their futures. Unless he could find away to stop loving her, and that didn’t seem to be possible. Maybe he needed to look into getting someone to spell him, he was that desperate. He really needed to go for a long run to clear his head.

Sunday afternoon I sat with Auri, Erora, Stella, Loraine and Regina at Moon Magic. The restaurant was closed on Sundays for family. While the women gossip the men are at the bar watching sports or something and the kids play in the party room. It was always nice to spend time as a family and I loved spending time with my sisters. We were all anxiously waiting for Sebastian to arrive with his new girlfriend. He never brought a girl to meet the family, as far as we all know Sebastian hasn’t dating in years, so it was a big deal. However when he came through the door holding hands with a medium height girl who looked younger than me I freeze. Why did she look so familiar? She was a cute little thing with her wavy black hair and overgrown blonde roots pulled up into ponytail, and she had the sweet blue eyes. Something about her triggered something in my memory, but I didn’t know what. Perfect day to have my clairvoyance bond for an undetermined amount of time this was exactly why I hated these sells, they were very inconvenient.

“Looks she’s like 12,” Erora whispered laughing.

“Really the males in this family need to learn what the legal age limit really is,” Loraine said.

“Maybe she just looks young,” Stella offered.

“No wonder he hesitated, another cradle robber brother,” Auri shook her head.

“Love is love,” Regina predictably said.

“Ladies,” Sebastian greeted. “This is Lynn, Lynn these are my sisters…”

While Sebastian introduced everybody I kind of tuned him out because I knew exactly where I knew this girl from. It had been 16 ½ years since I was kidnapped but I remembered the family I lived with. When I was three they had a new baby, she was adorable with her little blonde curls and eyes that changed colors with her emotions like she was a mood ring. I always loved playing with the baby and being a big sister. Then I was taken away only to find out that the family I was desperate to get back to wasn’t mine. I guess it made sense with me being a witch and seer and them being über religious and über human If they had found out what I was honestly I think they would have tried to “beat the devil” out of me. Or send me to some asylum. Guess it was a good thing I was good a keeping secrets as a child. This girl with Sebastian was Evalinda Jordan, my little sister. How small is this world? Lynn stared at me like she realized what I just had, but she didn’t say a word. We always had a special connection and I could feel it as soon as our eyes locked. At least now I knew that Zenis didn’t make good on his threat to kill my little sister and cut her body into a bunch of pieces.

“Aurielle,” I whispered in my mind.

“You know her?” She replied obviously noticing both mine and Lynn’s expressions.

“She’s the daughter of my adoptive parents.”

            “Drama. She knows it’s you.”

“Yeah she does, this is so bad.”

I know I’m just going to have to talk to her and make something up, even though I hate lying and think it’s disgusting. Fate isn’t my friend today. But this does explained why I was thinking of the past, it had been a sign. And as the saying went “When it rains it pours,” I had a feeling it was about to rain Jordans.

Lynn smiled politely and tried to remember the names of way too many people and Sebastian said more were coming. How many siblings did he have? She had 10 if you didn’t count the sister that had been kidnapped years ago. The women at the table were looking at her strangely but they wouldn’t unnerve her. This was what she wanted right? It was her that wanted to get to know Sebastian for real. One of the women at the table caught her eye, but it was impossible. She looked like her lost sister Mackenzie or at least what she would look like grown up. It was a coincidence they had the same name right? This couldn’t be her; she looked like the woman sitting beside her they had to be twins. But the way Mackenzie was looking back at her made her wonder. How would her sister even end up here? And apart of Sebastian’s family too?

“So you’re the mystery girlfriend,” Erora the strawberry blonde said with a wicked smile. All these women were un-humanly beautiful, how could so many beautiful women be in one family?

“Guess so,” Lynn replied, taking a seat next to Mackenzie.

“Well it’s nice to meet you Lynn,” Mackenzie said smiling.

“Are you twins?” She asked and they laughed.

“You’d think so right?” Auri the other one said.

“They act like it, but Kenz is married to our brother,” Stella the raven haired long legged model looking one explained.

“How old are you Lynn?” Loraine the dirty blonde asked.

“Oh I’m 18, so it’s legal,” she shrugged they all laughed.

“Sebastian never brings girls home, he must be in love with you,” Regina said the light brown haired starry eyed one said.

“I don’t know about all that,” Lynn said. They stared at her like she was crazy. “What? Bastian and I like to hang out no big deal.”

“Oh I love her,” Stella said laughing.

“Life is about fun not getting tied down when you’re too young to know any better,” Loraine said.

            “So true,” Auri said.

“Uh huh then why are you shacking up with Vince? Don’t think we forgot how you were all over him the other night, in front of half our brothers,” Stella said.

“Weren’t we talking about Lynn? She’s our guest we should be grilling her,” Auri said.

“Plenty of time for that later,” Erora said. “So should we be planning another wedding?”

“Hell no, I’m just getting him out of my system for good,” Auri said sounding disgusted. “Lynn, see the hottie over there with the military style hair cut? That’s Vince the pain in my a*s.”

“An a*s he likes to feel up,” Erora said. “We haven’t forgotten your club sex scene. Face it he’s in love with you and you love him.”

“No love involved I like sex,” Auri said.

“Not everything is about sex, thinking like that is why you and Loraine aren’t married and why Stella’s been married three times,” Regina said.

“B***h please, you  married Conner cause he knocked your a*s up and dad made him, we all know it,” Loraine said.

“Reg it ain’t no fairytale it is what it is and there’s nothing wrong with making a few mistakes,” Stella said.

“Conner and I love each other and he did the honorable thing,” Regina said sounding un-amused.

“Kenz you are quiet, what’s wrong?” Erora asked, they all stared at her.

“Oh I was just wondering where my mother is with Noah,” Mackenzie said. Even Lynn could tell she was lying.

“So Lynn how did you meet Sebastian?” Auri asked quickly changing the subject.

“He lives in the same building as me and my sister,” she told them. Why did Mackenzie look completely zoned out?

“Ohh a newbie,” a woman said when she approached the table. “I’m Zara, and you are?” This woman was just as beautiful as the rest with her milk chocolate skin and long black hair. Why were all these women particularly tan? Compared to them she felt pale and awkward looking.

“This is Lynn, Sebastian’s girlfriend,” Loraine said. Zara looked taken completely off guard.

“Shame I never got to seduce him,” she shrugged. “Oh well there are still a few brothers without b*****s.”

“Must you speak like that?” Regina asked giving her a look.

“Oh hush little hussy, or what was it we called you? Right, hole in one,” Zara said and Regina’s face turned red.

“Zara be nice, you’re gonna make Lynn think we’re crazier than we are,” Loraine told her. “She’s not really one of our sisters but Zara is like part of the family.” She explained to Lynn.

“Damn right I’m family,” Zara said. “It will be official once I figure out which brother I want”

“Heard you were hanging out with Jared a lot,” Stella said.

“You know he’s sworn off women,” Auri said.

“Well you all know I can work serious magic,” Zara said with a devious smile. Then she stared at Mackenzie, who looked very out of it.  “Anyway, Lynn how did you manage to get Mr. Celibate?” Why were they all trying to keep her attention from Mackenzie?

“Celibate?” Lynn asked and they all laughed.

“He didn’t tell her,” Loraine said looking surprised.

“That’s his business to tell not ours,” Regina said.

“Too late for that, Zara,” Stella said.

“I should have known,” Zara shrugged. “Maybe I did.”

“Now that it’s out, Lynn your man hasn’t been with a woman in like 6 years,” Erora told her.

“That’s news to me,” Lynn said playing it cool. What did that mean? She’d have to ask Sebastian about that later.

“Not having sex on purpose is a crime,” Stella said shaking her head.

            “I agree,” Auri said.

“So says Vince’s plaything,” Zara laughed. “Aurielle you’re so transparent, we all know that you’re going to be his.”

“I’d give it three more weeks,” Regina said. Why did it seem liked they talked in code a lot or was she just out of the loop?

“How long do we give Lynn?” Erora asked, she seemed to be the troublemaker of the group.

“Depends,” Stella said. “What do you know about Sebastian?” She asked Lynn.

“I don’t know, he bartends, keeps to himself a lot, he’s sweet, comes home to see his family a lot,” she shrugged.

“Another month,” Loraine said. “He never told you why he comes home for a week every month?”

“Nope,” Lynn admitted. They looked at each other with thoughtful expressions.

“It’s a family thing, we spend a lot of time together, we’re just a close family,” Stella told her. It looked like they were all hiding something.

“Bet he’ll bring you with him next time, since you’ve met us. That way you can really get to know our family,” Regina told her.

“I love weddings, I bet you’ll be married by the end of the year,” Stella said.

“You love weddings cause you’ve been married 3 times,” Auri said.

“I’m not marrying anyone, I like Bastian but I am not being like my sisters,” Lynn said. “I’m one of 11 and most of my siblings are married and married young.”

“We do need another independent woman around here, since Auri the skank abandoned me,” Loraine told her.

“There’s nothing wrong with marrying young, I was 16 when I got married and mom was 14, Eden was 13 and Mackenzie got married at 17,” Regina said.

“It was only like two months before I turned 18,” Mackenzie said finally looking in tune with reality again. Was she maybe on drugs? Or have some type of mental disability?

“Like that makes a difference little mama,” Zara said. “When should we be expecting a number two?”

“Not for awhile, besides with Mena it’s like I have two and I have the girls,” Mackenzie said dismissively.

“That’s why we need to get you out before school starts up,” Stella said.

“I vote we initiate Lynn into our girl’s club,” Loraine said.

“She’s 18, it’s irresponsible to take her out drinking,” Regina said.

“Uh hello she’s dating a freaking bartender, I’m sure they drink together all the time,” Auri said.

“Got a fake ID Lynn?” Mackenzie asked.

“I’ve had one since I was like 15,” Lynn said. That seemed to impress them.

“Then it’s settled, tomorrow we are clubbing,” Erora said.

“What’d we miss?” A woman asked when she came in with another woman, two men and 4 kids. The men and children didn’t stop at the table.

“Bri, Livi, this is Lynn Sebastian’s girl,” Regina said.

“Ohh, nice to meet you,” Brianna said. Another beauty with light brown skin and natural looking reddish brownish hair, these sisters didn’t all look a like at all.

“So that means we party to celebrate?” Olivia the Latina looking one asked.

“Hell yeah,” Stella said. “Now we just need to get Mama Patty out the house and Viv.”

“Don’t wanna invite Kiviann? Zara asked and they all laughed something else Lynn didn’t get.

“We have to have Lynn meet that witch,” Loraine said and they laughed.

“Our brother Mack’s wife hates all of us, so does he most days, but he doesn’t hate Zara,” Auri explained.

“If she took care of his needs he wouldn’t have wandered away,” Zara shrugged.

“I think I like ya’ll better than my own sisters,” Lynn said.

“They must be boring then,” Olivia said. “You’ll never have more fun than with an Alonso girl.”

“Isn’t that what the guys in high school use to say?” Brianna asked and everybody including Lynn laughed. “So Lynn are you shy about talking about sex?”

“Not at all, but can’t do that with my prudish sisters,” she said.

“Thank God we’ve found her,” Stella said dramatically.

“Tell us is Sebastian doing a good job taking care of your needs?” Zara asked, the others giggled and Lynn blushed.

“Well don’t tell him but he’s the best I’ve had, so far,” she said and they all laughed.

“Oh right we’re supposed to encourage you to stick with our brother,” Loraine said. “But nobody has to know what goes down on girl’s night out.”

“Oh I wouldn’t cheat on him,” Lynn said. Even though she technically couldn’t cheat since they weren’t in a relationship.

“No one said you would but wait till you see what happens when we hit the club,” Auri said. Another inside joke?

“Almost makes me wish I wasn’t married, but I love my Warren,” Stella said.

“We attract men like crazy,” Erora explained.

Lynn, can I speak with you in private?” Mackenzie asked in a whisper while the others were trying to figure out which club they wanted to go to.

“Sure,” Lynn said getting up and following her outside. “You’re her aren’t you? My sister that was kidnapped, that’s you,” she said when they were alone.

“It’s more complicated than that,” Mackenzie said not bothering denying it at all.

“What’s complicated about it? And you knew who I was as soon as I walked in the door. Why wouldn’t you come home?” Lynn asked unable to really grasp this strange occurrence.

“At first I couldn’t, I probably should have but I wouldn’t know what to say to your mother,” Mackenzie paced.

“My mother? She’s your mother too and she’s never really recovered from what happened to you. Mercedes always said you were still alive somewhere, and here you are.”

“I’m sorry she felt pain but she’s not my mother. I was-”

“Mackenzie,” a woman called, she was getting out of a car. She was carrying a baby boy and the man with her carrying a baby girl over, the babies looked alike. Twins?

“Hi Mom, Dad,” Mackenzie greeted. “Oh there’s my boy I missed you Noah.” She took the boy from the woman. “Lynn these are my parents Eden and Maddox, parents this is Lynn Sebastian’s girlfriend.”

“Hi,” they both said then went inside. This Eden woman looked almost exactly like Mackenzie and didn’t look old enough to be her mother.

“Make sense of this please because you look like that woman but she can’t be your mother,” Lynn said when they were alone again.

“She is my mother, she had me when she was 15 and because her and my dad weren’t together anymore she gave me away. Your mom’s baby died so your dad took me in that baby’s place. My mom was so young and she was broken hearted and couldn’t take care of me, she thought it would be best for me to be with a real family. By the time she could come back for me the kidnapping thing happened and I didn’t know anything about her until she found me when I was 16. It’s all crazy and complicated but it’s the truth,” she told her.

“Who took you?” Lynn asked, there was something in Mackenzie’s eyes that worried her.

“A very bad man who threatened to kill all of you if I didn’t behave,” she said. “Please don’t tell your mom, not yet I gotta figure out how best to do that. Telling her that the daughter she lost doesn’t belong to her isn’t going to go over well.”

“Ok so this is bizarre, you’re my sister that’s not my sister that’s married to the guy I’m with’s brother? This is giving me a headache,” Lynn said.

“It’s fate, nothing happens this random by accident,” Mackenzie said smiling. “Oh by the way this is my son Noah.”

“He’s gorgeous, who does the other baby belong to?” Lynn asked, another set of non-twin twins?

“That’s Mena, my other little sister,” Mackenzie laughed. “They look alike don’t they? Just like me and Auri, soul-twins we call it. Our family is very complicated, but you’ll find out all about that if you stay with Sebastian.”

“Tell me the truth, and I’m asking this as a sister, even if not by blood technically, but is he seeing someone else?” Lynn asked feeling stupid but she wasn’t going to let it go, she needed the truth.

“No, he’s really been celibate for years and a loner cause he left home young to find his own way in the world. He keeps to himself so he doesn’t get hurt, from what I know he had some relationships end badly. Sebastian is a great guy, I know it’s odd that he disappears a week every month but he’s at my house. It’s like he needs to come home to get grounded again and feel connected and not so alone. Give him some time and I promise you’ll know all his secrets,” Mackenzie explained.

“Guess that explains a lot and why we aren’t even really together,” she sighed. It was so easy to talk to her sister even if she hadn’t seen her in a very long time.

“Patience, I don’t think he knows what to really do where his feeling are concerned, runs in the family,” Mackenzie told her. “You’re still my sister even if we aren’t blood related, for so long I wanted to come home to you guys and then my life was turned upside down. But I never forgot I couldn’t especially you.”

“I feel like I’ve stepped into the twilight zone,” Lynn said.

“And you’re never going to get out of it trust me I’ve been there for years,” Mackenzie told her.

“Everything ok?” Sebastian asked when he came out.

“Sure ain’t Lynn has been adopted by your sisters and me,” Mackenzie told him.

“That is bad,” he shook his head.

“Does he know about you?” Lynn asked her, she nodded and Sebastian gave them both a questioning look.

“Everybody knows about my unfortunate kidnapping, but we don’t really talk about it,” she told her. “Sebastian your girl is my little sister.” She said then went back inside, leaving them alone.

Jordan,” Sebastian said shaking his head. “I never made that connection; she told you what happened to her?”

“We recognized each other kind of unavoidable, I’m just kind of thrown by the whole thing,” she admitted.

“My family is a complicated mess, feel free to run now it just gets worse,” he said looking at the ground.

“Bastian what am I to you?” She asked, that got him to look her in the eyes.

“You’re my girl, right?” He asked watching her closely.

“We never really talked about that type of thing, or your um celibacy,” she said.

“This is why I live alone and as far away from my family as I can get without leaving town,” he shook his head. “I needed time without sex and women, not that I ever had much of that. Then you came along and things changed, but I do want you to be mine Lynn. I just didn’t know how to tell you that.”

“Good, cause I wouldn’t much like you being with anyone else,” she said. He pulled her to him and kissed her.

More people arrived but they were still kissing and didn’t stop. It was weird to be out in public with Sebastian and to be spending time with his enormous family. So many unexpected things, and yet it was starting not to feel too weird. She feared that maybe she was falling in love with this man and wasn’t sure how to feel about that. But he did bring her to meet his family. That was at least a start to a commitment of some type, right?

“And you’re sure about this?” Javier asked me and I nodded. “I don’t like this, maybe you should stay away from this girl and I could talk to Sebastian.”

“No and don’t even suggest sending us back to the farm, she’s not a threat. And you will not interfere in Sebastian’s relationship, he deserves to be happy,” I told him.

“But we don’t know what these humans will do, what if they investigate?” He asked, my husband is quite the worrier.

“I told her the truth, well most of it I left out the part about it being your father that took me and the whole seer thing. Anyway if they investigate Zenis committed the crime and there’s not even proof of that, except that everybody knows,” I shrugged.

“Still I would feel safer if you spent a few days away, until I know what she plans to do with this information,” he said.

“No I’m not leaving and she’s not going to do anything, but my time is running out. Do not mess with fate Javi, bad things will happen,” I warned. My binding lasted until I saw Lynn that was no coincidence.

“So I’m supposed to stand by and let these humans do whatever to you?” He asked sounding furious as I knew he would.

“Javi, it has to happen, Mercedes hired a private investigator that Lynn doesn’t know about. Lynn is in love with Sebastian and soon she’ll have bigger secrets to keep. He’s going to tell her, he has to and his time is running out. Time is running out for all of us, in more ways then you know,” I told him.

The trouble with the binding spells is that on me it suspended the visions for an undetermined amount of time, and then I get a rush of visions. That happened to me while Lynn was sitting next to me so I’m sure she probably thinks I’m crazy. The girls did try to draw her attention away but sooner or later the truth has to come out. Ironically the visions that spilled out had to do with the Jordan family. Bad times are coming to all 3 families I belong to and there’s no way around it. Knowing things will happen is hard, and trying not to interfere is even harder. That’s why I try very hard to keep my visions to myself. Other people would be compelled to mess with fate, I’ve learned my lesson.

“I hate when you do that, I hate these visions,” he sighed. If Javier had his way I would never have another vision, he worried what its going to do to me. Though if it wasn’t for my visions we would never have met, but I didn’t point that out to him, it would be pointless because logic had no lace here.

“And I hate what you had to do to be able to have me here,” I said. I hated him being Alpha; it just put more stress on our already stressful relationship.

“I had to bring my wife home,” he said with a stony expression. “What else was I supposed to do? There was no running away to the farm he would have found us and had us both killed.”

“Still my heart hurts for you everyday, and I have to worry if someone’s going to fight dirty,” I hated to admit these things to him.

“You’ve seen something,” he said watching me closely.

“All I see is wolves fighting, no timestamp sweetie, most of what I got today was about the Jordans. I didn’t even touch Lynn and there was a flood and that family has got some serious issues and I’m going to make it worse. Well Sebastian will especially when they find out about him but I’m thinking that won’t happen for awhile,” I said.

“A week? Then maybe I won’t go crazy,” he suggested.

“Nope, besides tomorrow is girls’ night out, I need to go out and have fun. Stop worrying about me I can take care of myself,” I said.

“Yeah but when you can see everything but your own future I like to know you’re safe. I’m talking to your father about more security on you,” he informed. “Don’t look at me like that it’s for your own good, you know I love you right? And I would do anything to protect you and our son.”

“I know,” I climbed into his lap. “But trust me, I can’t keep living like this, you know what will happen.” You can’t keep a gypsy witch locked up, it will end badly, I know from experience.

“This girl’s night out, should I be worried?” He asked changing the subject; of course he doesn’t want to talk about that.

“It’s Lynn’s initiation, are you working? I was going to take Noah to my mom.” I said, he looked at me with a suspicious look.

“Yeah I’ll be working late, but this weekend the three of us are going to spend time together,” he said.

“Good,” I replied and we kissed. Worst time to have another vision.

Lynn woke up late in the afternoon after staying out late with the Alonso sisters, they were party girls. And they weren’t joking about how they attracted men, so many different men bought her drinks and begged to dance. It was very different from any other time she’d ever gone out. Afterwards she’d come over to Sebastian’s apartment, he’d just gotten home from work. The night ended very well for her. Now she was alone in Sebastian’s bed.

Dinner with the Alonsos wasn’t what she expected and still had her slightly hung over head spinning. For one thing there were just so many of them. Every one of them wanted to ask her questions, they all found it hard to believe that Sebastian was with someone. Then there was finding her sister, but that wasn’t something she felt like thinking about. That raised way too many questions in her mind. All in all the dinner went better than she expected it to. Since she’d never had a serious relationship she never met anyone’s family. Ana, Sebastian’s stepmother seemed to like her, which was good. Getting a mother’s approval meant something, right? But his father wasn’t there which only made her wonder more. Unlike with her family these people were really close and talked about everything, even sex. Which her siblings would never do, except maybe Sarah, who’s sex talk with her involved Sarah throwing a box of condoms at her.

She got out of bed to find Sebastian; it smelled like he was cooking. Having a man that cooked for her was amazing luck. He was in the kitchen when she found him, he was on the phone. Something about his conversation made her wonder. Why was he always taking secret calls? But no she was just paranoid, everybody told her what an amazing guy he was. Then again that was his family and they had to say nice things. When he saw her as usual he quickly hung up the phone. Yup it was very suspicious. Since he was making her food maybe she could let it go, for now.

“I was thinking maybe you should stay over more often,” he said unexpectedly.

“Why? You want more sex?” She asked, he had an odd expression.

“No, I just like seeing you when I wake up,” he said looking away back to his pancakes. Chocolate chip blueberry pancakes, her favorite.

“Bastian, you’re so sweet to cook for me,” she said kissing his cheek. She sat up on the counter to watch him.

“It’s my job,” he shrugged. Maybe his sisters were right about him not really knowing how to deal with being in a relationship, it always seemed like he wanted to say more to her than he actually did.

“We should go out somewhere,” she suggested. He turned to stare at her.

“Aren’t you worried your family might see?” He asked.

“What do I care? Staying in is getting old, I want to show you off to the world,” she said.

“We can do anything you want,” he said as she knew he would.

“About you being celibate for 5 or 6 years explain that to me,” she said. Once again he turned away, but this time he seemed embarrassed.

“What’s to explain? I always do the wrong thing with women so I decided to stay away, to spare others pain. But you wouldn’t let me do that, sooner or later something bad will happen and I’m not just being paranoid,” he told her.

“How long have you known Mackenzie?” She asked changing the subject; she had plenty of questions to ask.

“A long time,” he said. He was putting her pancakes on a plate with cut up bananas and strawberries and whipped cream with chocolate syrup. This was her guilty pleasure.

“It was your father that kidnapped her wasn’t it?”

“It was,” he sighed. “The situation is very complicated, he didn’t just do it for fun, not that he’s above that type of thing.”

“Why would he kidnap just some random little girl?” She asked, he looked more and more uncomfortable every second but she needed answers.

“There wasn’t anything random about it, Mackenzie isn’t what she seems and it’s not really my place to tell you,” he sighed.

“But you will tell me anyway, right?” Maybe she should mind her business, his expression warned her to, but she couldn’t help but to ask.

“She’s a seer, she sees the future and she’s supposed to grow into the most powerful seer in the world. So Zenis the selfish took her so he could use her and eventually take her as his mistress. My father is a bad person and for a very very long time he did all types of things, he’s a criminal, murderer and rapist,” he told her.

“Oh my God,” she gasped knowing he was actually serious. This was too hard to believe and the trouble was that she did.

“Yeah so that’s why we avoid talking about him or being near him unless it’s necessary. I’ll never forgive him for what he did not only to my birth mother or to Javier and my brother Max and his wife. He killed them leaving their 4 daughters without parents and he raped my mother but for some reason kept me,” he said looking disgusted. “Mackenzie was lucky that her parents found her when they did, he would have forced her to be his mistress and Javier would be worse off than he is now. My brother had to do things that he will never forgive himself for so that he could have the woman he loves. We all had to do some things.”

“Bastian,” she said but didn’t know what else to say. This wasn’t what she expected to find out. “I’m sorry.”

“Yeah so am I,” he got up from the table and left the room.

No wonder he didn’t talk about his family. Lynn felt horrible for making him talk about this. And she felt even worse because she had more questions to ask him. She got up to follow him into the bedroom where he was pacing and looking ready to jump out of his skin. Something was very wrong, and she felt responsible.

“You should leave,” he growled at her.

“No Bastian I can’t, I’m sorry I’m so nosey,” she told him. “There’s just so much I don’t know about you and meeting your family just gave me more questions.”

Lynn, please leave,” he said as if struggling to get the words out. He leaned against the dresser breathing hard and clutching his stomach.

“Bastian what’s wrong?” She asked, he didn’t look good at all.

“This can’t be happening,” he whispered. “Don’t follow me.” He said then ran from the room and then out the apartment, she just stood there staring after him confused.
