Betrayal and Mistrust

Tessa felt guilty for what she was about to do, but it needed to be done. She had to do this while her sister was at school, but she knew Morgana might never forgive her. When she got out her car and walked up the path to the house, she almost turned around. Today was the only day she could do this because it was the last day of school for her sister. No doubt Morgana would be fawning all over Mario everyday of her vacation. Tessa rang the doorbell and waited patiently for someone to answer, she knew he was home. It was his brother’s pregnant fiancé that opened the door, but she couldn’t remember her name.

“Hi,” she said smiling.

“Is Mario home?” Tessa asked in her sweetest voice, Damien’s girl nodded and let her in. She was very pretty, dark skin and long hair, if it wasn’t for her round belly she could have been a model.

“I would go get him for you but I’m actually cooking right now so you can just go on up to his room. It’s the 3rd door on the left,” she said smiling and disappearing down the hall. This was too easy. Tessa followed instructions and when she got to Mario’s door she didn’t knock, she just went in.

“Why are you here?” He asked her, to her surprise he was laying on his bed reading a book.

“To make it clear that you need to break up with my sister,” she said.

“I’m not going to break up with her because you want me to,” he replied.

“Why are you doing this to me?” She asked and he finally sat up and put his book down. He turned to stare at her, she just stood there near the door that she’d closed, with her arms crossed.

“None of this has anything to do with you,” he said. But she knew that was a lie, all he ever did was lie.

“You’re using my sister because you want to get back at me,” she said and he laughed.

“Tessa what are you talking about? I told you I didn’t want to get involved, my life was a little crazy at that time. You couldn’t understand that and wouldn’t go away which only made me not want you in particular,” he said.

“Don’t lie, you were trying to get with me and we went over to your friend’s house and you tried to get me drunk. You remember don’t you? Then you took advantage of me, like you do with every girl you pretend to be interested in,” she said and again he laughed.

“Just leave,” he said getting up and pulling the door open. It was now or never, she kissed him and he pushed her away.

“I know you want to be with me,” she said.

“Get out; you know I’m with your sister, why would you kiss me?” Mario asked, he was pissed and she knew. This was exactly what she wanted.

“Mario,” she whispered in what she hoped was a seductive voice.

“Tessa, I won’t say anything to Morgana about you obvious mental instability,” he said pushing her closer to the door.

“Mario, I know what you want and what you need is a real woman. My little sister isn’t pleasing you the way you want,” she said watching his eyes.

“Tessa,” he said seemingly very frustrated, this was part of her plan. Again she went for a kiss, but this time she heard a gasp from someone in the hall before he could push her away.

“Mario,” his grandmother said. The expression on her face was shock and disgust; it wasn’t hidden by her tight smile.

“Tessa, can you please leave?” Mario asked, he was a lot madder than she hoped.

“We can finish this later,” she said smiling at him and his grandmother and she walked away.

When she was in her car driving away she thought about what she’d just done. What she had hoped was for either her sister to think that Mario really wanted her or to make him so mad that he didn’t want to see Morgana. Or to get him to have sex with her so she could tell Morgana how he seduced her. She knew eventually Morgana would get over this, Mario wasn’t worth it. He had humiliated her and ruined her reputation completely. There was no way he was in love with her little sister, it had to just be about sex and messing with her. Every time he was with Morgana he had to be thinking of how this would affect her and how it would hurt her. What he’d done to her was horrible, but he’d done worse to other girls. And right now was when Tessa was going to put an end to this; he wasn’t going to hurt her sister. Poor Morgana had no idea of the things her boyfriend had done, and Tessa wanted to keep it that way. As long as she could she didn’t want to have to tell Morgana everything because it would be too much. She would never be able to trust or love again after she found out the truth. Maybe it was time to stop babying her and just tell her the truth. It was almost time for school to be out, was today the day? No, she would wait until after Christmas to break her little sister’s heart.

“Another girl?” Grandma Betty asked in her disapproving tone.

“It’s not what you think, that was Morgana’s sister,” he said. But he realized a little too late how that sounded.

“I knew your morals weren’t what they should be, but you are cheating on your girlfriend with her sister?” Grandma Betty asked, at this point he knew he had to get out of this house as soon as possible.

“No, it’s a long story but I’m only with Morgana her sister is just crazy,” he said. There was no point, he knew no matter what he said or did she would still think the worst of him. It was all because of those panties, which happened to still be in his room. At home he was pretty sure there was some there too. Morgana seemed to just leave her panties everywhere, but he wasn’t exactly going to complain.

“Why was she here? And why was she kissing you?” She asked, that was a good question that he really wanted the answer to.

“She just showed up, she’s crazy and wants me to break up with Morgana,” he told her. “I gotta go pick Morgana up from school, Neil is taking Eve to see her sister,” he said.

“Mario,” she said and he had a bad feeling. “These girls seem to be a lot of trouble; maybe for once in her life your mother was right about something.”

“I thought you were accepting and loving and all that? Guess all that religious stuff is just for show cause I was always taught not to judge people. Eve has had a lot of problems in the past, but that’s not her fault. Her parents’ choices made her life difficult and drove her sister crazy. And Morgana has had a lot to deal with, she was Corrina’s best friend,” he said. Ever since that incident the other day his grandmother was becoming impossible to live with.

“They almost got you and your brother killed,” she said.

“That wasn’t anybody’s fault,” he replied trying to hold his anger in.

“And your brother hasn’t been home in days,” she went on like he hadn’t said a word. “He at least use to be so well mannered and respectful, he had morals and values. Now none of you seem to have any,” she said shaking her head and walking away.

“Mario,” Damien called before he could get away. His brother had appeared out of his room and was now in the hall gesturing for him to come over.

“Yes?” He asked walking down the hall and entering the room.

“I see you’re having issues with Gram,” Damien said.

“That’s an understatement, but yeah,” he said. Looking around the room it was pretty cramped looking, the house had enough room for all of them but it was still cramped. Of course this room would be rather crampy, Juliet was obsessively buying baby stuff. And she was also planning a wedding, which now had to happen after the baby came.

“I wanted to tell you that Juliet and I are moving out,” Damien said.  “I’m too old to be living with my grandparents, and we’re pretty much never going to move back home. Juliet is still very upset with Mimi and I would rather no be reminded of her. So I already bought a house, it was a gift to Juliet for Christmas. We’re moving after the New Year,” he said.

“Guess it would have happened sooner or later,” Mario said shaking his head. He like living with his family and them all being close, but everybody had to grow up. Back at home there house was much bigger with a lot of space and a lot of freedom. Of course they couldn’t have all stayed there forever either.

“She wants to work on a nursery and all that,” Damien said. “I haven’t told Gram and Grandpa yet though,” he went on. “Cause if I hear one more thing about how we show have been married before she got pregnant or how we shouldn’t cohabitate before marriage. Even though we’ve been living together for like 2 years, I’m done having to listen to this crap.”

“You and me both,” Mario said. “Morgana’s crazy sister just came over and threw herself at me,” he told his brother who laughed.

“Why would she do that?” Damien asked, still Mario was wondering that exact same thing.

“She’s crazy and doesn’t want us together,” he said. “And she kissed me in front of Gram, so that along with Mo leaving her panties in my pocket makes me like the worst sinner in the world. I need my own space, if I want to have sex with my girlfriend it’s not anybody else’s business,” he went on and Damien nodded.

“Gotta live your own life, that’s what I told Neil,” Damien said.

After talking to Damien for a minute or so more Mario went to get his keys so he could pick Morgana up from school. It was still weird to him that he had a girlfriend in high school, just because he had to pick her up at the same school he went to. He just hated for people to ask questions and be in his business. Wasn’t he entitled to privacy? Apparently not especially at home, but he’d been looking around to find an apartment. The trouble was that because he didn’t work and all his money came from his father, he could get cut off whenever Gordon saw fit. He’d made it clear that he wanted them to all come back home, but he needed to grow up. So maybe it was time to get a job? Gordon didn’t want any of them to work while in school, he felt school should be top priority. But it would be a good idea to work, in the summer he worked in his dad’s office, it was a family thing they all did it. The money he made from working in the summer he saved, why spend that when his dad put money into their accounts weekly? It was more like his accountant did, but it was still always there.

He parked his car across from the school and waited for the last bell to ring. The time had come for him to figure out if he was going to tell Morgana about Tessa. What he wanted to do was forget it, but he knew he had to tell her. If he didn’t then Tessa would use it against him. Other than Mimi he didn’t know anybody who would do such crazy things. But he wasn’t sure what Tessa had hoped to accomplish, did she really think that he would cheat on Morgana? Of course he never would, but especially not with her. He was trying to get pass the things she was doing because he knew sooner or later Morgana would forgive her, but this was getting ridiculous. The bell rang and seconds later students were pouring out of the school, it was the last day of the year. Patiently he waited because he knew Morgana was never prompt. When he spotted her a few minutes later she was walking out with Eve and Neil and waved to him. They went off to the parking lot and she crossed the street. The first thing she did when she got in was kiss him.

“I thought the day would never end,” she said. “Now I have three weeks to have hot sex with my man,” she smiled at him.

“Let’s just go check into a hotel until it’s time for school,” he said and she smiled.

“Perfect,” she said. “So what are we doing today? And you should know I really am horny,” she said.

“When exactly aren’t you Horny?” Mario asked, he had to admit she did look tempting. Today she was wearing a long black gypsy skirt, a very tight black halter top and a black hoodie that belonged to him.

“Um when we’re at church? Actually sometimes I am when we’re there. I can’t help it Mario, you’re so hot,” she said making pouty faces at him.

“What do you want to do? I’m up for whatever,” he told her.

“Well my parents are off doing last minute shopping so we can go to my house,” she suggested. That was the last place he wanted to go, he didn’t want to be near Tessa.

“Will your sister be home?” He asked and to his surprise she shook her head.

“She’s baby sitting,” she replied.

Mario start driving since they finally had some place to go, still he had to figure out what to say to her. How do you tell your girlfriend that her sister tried to get you to have sex with her? He was pretty sure that was where Tessa was trying to lead him before he tried to get rid of her. But he still didn’t understand the whole situation. When he pulled up at her house, thankfully there were no cars in the driveway. He followed her in and up to her room, where she threw the hoodie she was wearing over her desk chair. As usual he sat on the bed, she start typing something on her laptop so he laid down to watch her. The halter top she was wearing fell right about her pierced belly button, she looked really good today. As much as he wanted her, he was conflicted. Really all he wanted to do was just kill Tessa so he could be happy.

“Damien bought Juliet a house for Christmas,” he said and she turned.

“Seriously? I wish I could move out,” she said coming over to her bed. “So am I going to see you on Christmas? If not I can give you your gift now,” she said.

“Oh was I required to buy you something?” He asked and she made a face, truthfully he’d bought her something weeks ago. “I’ll figure something out, are you staying here or going to Nana’s?”

“We’ll be right here, which means mother will expect me to help her cook tomorrow. Ana may be a free spirit but she is a wreck around the holidays cause you know Nana is crazy and intense,” she told him then crawled on top of him.

“How did you get to be so freaky? I feel like you just use me for sex,” he said.

“But you know you love it,” she replied. “I just really like your penis, and I didn’t wear panties today cause I knew you were coming to get me,” she said.

“Good so I won’t get in trouble again,” he said.

“Well your grandparents think I’m a w***e so that kinda makes us even,” she said. “Actually we aren’t even, I’m the w***e and you’re just the guy who has sex with the w***e,” she said.

“You’re a cute w***e,” he replied and she glared at him. “No my girl is not w***e, even if you like to leave your panties lying around,” she said. “Once I get my own place you can come over and leave your panties at home,” he whispered in her ear.

“I’ll come over with nothing on,” she said then kissed him. “Now I feel very dirty, let’s take a shower,” she said very suggestively.

“Morgana Wrecker I think you have a problem,” he said. But she was already up taking her clothes off.

Mario shook his head as Morgana start stripping for him. Of all the girls he’d done stuff with, she was always the one to get to him. There were a lot of s****y trashy girls, most of which he passed up. But she wasn’t like that; she just liked to mess with him. And there was the chance that he wasn’t going to be getting any for the next few weeks. All he wanted to do was focus on Morgana, he wanted to spend time with her and forget most of this year. As she stood there completely naked, he hoped that it wouldn’t be too hard. But he had a feeling there would be more obstacles. He got up from her bed and followed her into the bathroom that connected her room to Tessa’s. Maybe this was a bad idea? That wasn’t going to stop him and maybe seeing them together again would make Tessa get the point. Really he didn’t care he just hoped her parents didn’t come home and catch them.

“So I don’t even know what to say,” Neil said to Claira. Eve was down the hall with her case worker and the doctor discussing Claira’s condition. Which hadn’t improved that much, but she was staring at him and it was unnerving. It was Eve’s idea to leave him to keep Claira company and talk to her. But what could he say to her?

“Well I really do love your sister, she’s amazing but I guess you know that. I fell in love the first time I saw her over the summer, I thought she was beautiful. So I hunted her down on Myspace and it took me a month and a half into school before I could talk to her. Eve isn’t like any other girl I’ve ever met; other girls worry about stupid stuff. Whereas she has lived and had real life experiences so she doesn’t take life for granted. I try to live life and not have regrets; it’s hard though I worry too much. Lately though I’ve just been doing whatever.

“I bet you’re bored with me talking right? I don’t blame you; I almost ended up in here after my sister died. Instead they just let me take a vacation in the middle of the school year. Being here might have helped me more but my mother couldn’t risk anybody finding out. She’s selfish like that; I’ve only just started getting back to somewhat normal. Let’s see oh, I bought Eve this necklace for Christmas. My sister Molly said she should like it, I hope so. You might think I’m crazy but one day I want to marry your sister,” he said. Was it his imagination of did Claira react?

“Eve has been really happy, or at least she was happy then your mom hired these guys. They broke into her house and pointed guns at me and my brother. Then they tried to I guess kidnap Eve from school. I’ve never been in this kind of situation; it’s like a movie or something. And all the things she told me the two of you have done. Is it crazy if all I want to do is protect her from the world? Think I’m sappy and weird? I am but I’ve never felt like this before, I love her so much. I know you don’t believe that I do, but I really do,” he told her.

Claira actually seemed to be paying attention to him, which was actually kind of weird but at the same time he hoped she understood that he loved her sister. Eve and Claira had no idea how lucky they were to have each other; he would give anything to have Corrina back. But he was finally starting to sort of accept it; she wasn’t going to come back. For the longest time he held out hope that one day Corrina was going to come home and that it had all been a mistake. It was only recently that he really came to terms with the fact that she never would. There was a knock on the door and he looked up to see Eve coming back into the room.

“So did you two get to know each other?” Eve asked with a bright hopeful smile that didn’t reach her eyes.

“Yeah I’ve been boring Claira to death,” he said and she smiled a real smile.

“Clair, I’m so sorry I’ve been gone so long, but we have to leave now. I promise I will be over tomorrow and I’ll try to get over for Christmas,” she told her sister.

“I’ll bring you over,” he said and she turned to him and hugged him.

“You are amazing,” she said before turning back to Claira. “Tomorrow I’m going to talk to dad so I’ll tell you how that goes. I wish you could come home with me now, but we’ll have every other holiday once you’re better,” she told her. And Claira just stared blankly at her; Eve looked like she was going to cry. She got like this every time she saw her sister.

The silence was starting to get to him, they were already almost to Eve’s house and neither said a word since leaving Claira. Tomorrow he had to go back home because his father was finally coming back. Gordon requested all of his children return from exile at least long enough for lunch and a family meeting. Neil was dreading this completely; he’d spent the last couple of days at Eve’s house. He was ready to move in there, but he knew he couldn’t. Joan and William were the best parents he’d ever met; they weren’t like his parents or grandparents. His grandparents were becoming too judgmental and were attacking everybody for their alleged “immoral behavior”; they saw more things as sins then the pastor at church. To say his family was stressing him out would be the understatement of all understatements. Damien and Christianna decided that none of them spent enough time together anymore so the Jay siblings were going to lunch tomorrow afternoon, then home.

“Thank you so much for being so nice to Claira,” Eve said when he pulled into the driveway.

“No need to thank me, she’s your sister and if you need me to sit with her I will,” he said and she smiled.

“Can you just live here? You’ve been here all week and I love spending so much time together,” she said as they were going inside. Joan and William weren’t home; they were out shopping with the Wreckers.

“I wish, but the grandparents have been complaining how wrong it is that they would let teenagers sleep together in their house. All we do is literally sleep together so I don’t know what the problem is,” he said following her to her room.

“Well would you let your teenage daughter’s boyfriend live in your house?” She asked, she was always the peacemaker.

“No probably not,” he said. “I think you and I would be stricter parents.”

“Are you trying to say that we will have children together?” She asked watching him closely; he knew what she was thinking.

“Haven’t I ever told you that we’re going to get married? We can get married right now,” he said pulling her down on the bed.

“How? We’re both under aged,” she said.

“We could, I think you cane if you have a parent’s permission or you’re emancipated,” he told her. What he didn’t want to tell her was that he really had looked into it. But they were still too young even if he knew he wanted to be with her forever.

“Maybe,” she said and he kissed her forehead.

“Eve Jay,” he whispered and she stared at him.

“I love you,” she said.

“I love you too,” he said.

They laid in silence for awhile, there seemed to be a lot of long silences these days. But he didn’t mind it gave him time to clear his head, his thoughts seemed to race around lately. There were a lot of impulses he wanted to act on, but he forced himself not to. He felt more and more everyday like he was going crazy. Being here with Eve and her parents made it a lot easier for him to control his insanity. Maybe it was just all the stress with his family. Once he’d thought they would be close forever, now he rarely saw his siblings. That was why he thought helping Mimi would do some good, because they could go home. Damien told him yesterday that he bought a house and Chris was moving in with Aiden. Molly and Mario were both old enough to get their own apartments, but Neil was only 16. His choice was to live with his grandparents or go home, neither of which he wanted to do. The whole emancipation thing was looking very good, and then he could move out and live on his own. It was hard being the youngest of 5 children, everybody else was grown while he was still left behind.

“Uh oh,” he said when he looked at his phone. There was a text message from Mario. “We are needed at the Wrecker house, Mario says there’s sister trouble,” he told Eve. She yawned and sat up, she’d been dozing off.

“Let’s go before there’s bloodshed,” she said getting up and putting her shoes back on. He followed her downstairs and across the street, at least on the bright side he didn’t have to worry about her sister getting in their business.

Morgana was lying in bed making out with Mario; she knew that they should probably get dressed because her parents could be home at any moment. But she didn’t care, her mother taught her to just live and learn, so this wasn’t wrong. If they caught her so what? It wasn’t like her parents didn’t know she was having sex with Mario. After all the time she spent trying to really feel something with a guy and trying to not feel so alone, she was happy. And now if Mario got his own apartment she could see him more and get to be alone with him more. It had been a stressful week already and she knew that Christmas was going to be hectic, all holidays with her family were.

“Want some more?” Mario asked while kissing her neck, how was she supposed to say no when he did that?

“Always,” she replied. After this though no more, she thought, otherwise her dad might get all mad and protective.

“Get up on top,” he said giving her that lusty look that she’d loved to see.

She got on top of him and she worked her magic like always, she knew exactly what he liked. And she loved it when she could make him moan. It was official; she was really becoming a sex addict, before Mario she was never like this. Before she rarely had sex with the guys she dated and when they did it was never more then twice before she broke up with them. The sex was just never good enough, probably because by the time she did it with whoever she was already bored with him. She was very ADD when it came to boys, usually; everything with Mario was a big change. Most of the time she was thinking about having sex with him or just being with him and she couldn’t go a day without seeing him. Her mother told her that was what love was like, wanting to see him all the time, wanting to be with him, thinking about him. Joan had told her that when you’re in love the guy invades your brain. So she knew she loved Mario because she’d think about him at the randomest times and want to see him just to be near him. Either she really loved him or she was addicted to him and sex.

“Mario,” she whispered and he stared at her. “We forgot the condom,” she told him and he raised an eye brow at her.

“I don’t care,” he said pulling her down so he could kiss her.

She knew it was too late to stop now and that neither of them wanted to. But her mother’s voice was ringing in her head. When Ana was 16 she was pregnant with Patrick and she’d told her children how hard it was for her and how she and their father struggled. And she’d drilled it into their heads that it wasn’t the life for them and she rebelled against Nana because she was so strict. They were free to make mistakes but she didn’t want them to have children while they were so young. Morgana was the youngest, the last child and she was usually careful. Since she turned 14 her mother had her on birth control as a precaution. So this was safe right? It wasn’t the first time they’d done it, but for some reason she was worried this time. Only because they were doing it so much and they’d already done it once in the shower, unprotected. This also made her think of Mimi, but despite what that crazy woman thought she didn’t want a baby. Sixteen was way too young and she wanted to experience life first.

To ruin everything someone was knocking on her door, they looked at each other. Maybe they could ignore it? Then Tessa’s voice came and she knew they were going to ignore her. Why wouldn’t she just go away? Knowing that Tessa was there only encouraged her to keep having sex and she wanted to make sure her sister could hear it too. Once Mario had his own apartment she could go over there and walk around naked if she wanted to. Maybe she could convince her mom to let her live with him. That wasn’t really a possibility but it was a dream. She couldn’t wait until spring break so that she could spend a whole Tessa-free week in Mexico with Mario. After a few minutes it seemed that Tessa had taken a hint, it didn’t matter because they were finished anyway. When she rolled over to lay beside him she realized that Tessa hadn’t gone away, she was in fact standing in the doorway to the bathroom.

“Are you kidding me? You watched us have sex?” Morgana asked her sister who stood there looking disgusted.

“I knocked and you didn’t answer,” Tessa replied. “Guess I should have come home earlier, are you trying to get pregnant?”

“It’s none of your business,” Mario told her.

“You wouldn’t care would you? You would just pay for her to get rid of it like you’ve done before,” she said.

“What are you talking about?” Morgana asked, Mario had his eyes closed and his palmed pressed to his forehead and was shaking his head.

“Tessa for the thousandth time I never got any girl pregnant,” he said. “Mo, I swear to you that you’re sister is lying, again.”

“Just leave us alone Tessa Mary Lynn Wrecker, I’ve been trying to remember that you are my sister and I love you. But you make it impossible,” Morgana said. She knew Mario was pissed, he was getting dressed.

“I’m doing what’s best for you,” Tessa said. “He’s wrong for you even if you love him he doesn’t love you,” she told her.

“Mo, I’m gonna go,” Mario said while he was putting his jeans on.

“No, don’t,” Morgana said. She got up and put a t-shirt on and some shorts, Mario sat on the edge on her bed putting his shoes on, she didn’t want him to go.

“I’ll call you later and maybe I can see you tomorrow or something,” he said.

“Tessa I hate you, you’re such a stupid w***e! Why can’t you just leave us alone? He doesn’t want you; he never did and never will. I know you’re so much of a s**t that you would have sex with a girl in front of a bunch of people just to get a guy’s attention. Well guess what that just makes you trashy, why would anybody want you?” Morgana was at the end of her rope, she couldn’t control herself. She wanted to say more or to hit her, but Mario pulled her back and made her sit on the bed.

“Why would you tell her that?” Tessa asked Mario, she was clearly both angry and embarrassed.

“I just told the truth,” he said. “Get over yourself Tessa, I don’t want you get over this weird obsession you have.”

“What? I have an obsession with you? You use my sister because you want to get to me for breaking up with you, and I know you’ve done this stuff before,” she said.

“Tessa I never went out with you, we hung out once and you did what you did. I’ve never touched you,” he said.

“Never?” Tessa asked, Mario had a look that made Morgana worry.

“Are you really gonna go there?” He asked Tessa, there was such a hateful look in his eyes.

“You kissed me earlier today,” she said. Morgana looking back and forth between the two of them, they glared at each other.

“I kissed you? You showed up at my house and come in my room. Mo do you wanna know the truth? Your sister came over today and threw herself at me,” he said. At that Morgana got up, so much for cooling off.

“What?” Morgana asked, she was ready to choke her sister.

“It wasn’t like that, he wanted me to come over,” Tessa said. But she could tell that Tessa was lying.

“Tessa I don’t know what the hell is wrong with you, but if you don’t get out of my room right now I might hurt you,” Morgana said.

“Morgana, he doesn’t love you and I can’t in good conscience let him keep using you. I think you’ve been brainwashed,” Tessa said.

She tried so hard to understand why her sister was doing this. Up until after Thanksgiving they had been close and everything was fine. Months had already passed since she’d started dating Mario. So what changed? Was it because she had fallen in love and it wasn’t like all those times before? None of this made sense and Tessa continuing to do stuff to try to break them up was so confusing. What was really going on? Morgana was trying to restrain herself, but she started moving forward towards her sister. Before she could do anything Mario grabbed her around her waist and pulled her back.

“Hey can we join the party?” Eve said saddening appearing coming out of the bathroom with Neil following her. They must have gone through Tessa’s room because Morgana’s door was still locked.

“Took long enough,” Mario said to them. “Eve can you take Morgana to your house?” He asked, Morgana didn’t want to leave she wanted to kill her sister.

“What you want her to go so you can try to get me in bed again?” Tessa said, that was when Morgana got away from him and lunged at Tessa.

Both Mario and Neil tried to pull them apart, but Morgana had been pushed too far. She still didn’t know why but her sister was torturing her. Their parents had clearly come home because she could hear somebody banging on her bedroom door. It was Eve that unlocked the door right before the guys pulled them apart. Ana and David were standing in the door way, neither knew what was going on.

“Come on Morgana let’s just go to my house like Mario said,” Eve said handing her a pair of shoes.

“Is anybody going to tell us what’s going on?” David asked, neither of his daughters spoke they were glaring at each other.

“Mr. Wrecker,” Mario said. “Tessa is having some issues with me and Morgana’s relationship.” That was a heck of an understatement.

“Tessa I thought we talked about this?” Ana asked, but Tessa didn’t answer she just pulled away from Neil who was still holding on to her and left the room. David followed her trying to get her to talk to him.

“Ana, I’m gonna take her to my house so she can calm down,” Eve said.

Morgana just followed Eve who led her by hand out of her room; she grabbed a hoodie that was hanging by the door. Silently they went across the street, the wind and the cold didn’t bother her bare legs. Neil and Mario were behind them whispering to each other. She just felt like she was having some type of out of boy experience. Did she really just physically fight with her sister? After this crap she knew she could never trust Tessa ever again, there would be no making up or forgiving her, this was just it. She was done.

Ana Wrecker put away her groceries, and stood in her empty kitchen for a moment. The house was quiet now, when she’d come home there was a lot of noise. Never to her knowledge had her daughters ever fought like this. They always got along great and they use to like each other. The past couple weeks something was different. Though she tried to stay out of their business and tried to keep the peace, it seemed impossible. Everything seemed to center around this boy, Mario Jay. Tessa was always bringing home boys or talking about all these boys that liked her. Morgana wasn’t like that, she wasn’t the one that craved attention. This was the first time Morgana ever talked about a boy a lot and brought him over. Ana knew her daughters well and she encouraged them to talk to her and tell her anything. Usually they did but there was something going on with Tessa. It made no sense to her why two girls who got along all their lives and were the best of friends would suddenly be fighting like this. All over this boy, who she knew was in love with her youngest daughter.

Her mother thought it was insane that she would let Morgana date a boy 3 years older than her that was in college. But then again it was her mother that didn’t want her to see David, when they were younger. And forbidding Ana from seeing him only made her want to see him more. She snuck out the house a lot, skipped school and told lies, and she ended up with a baby. What she’d originally thought was that if she let her kids have the freedom to live and grow then maybe they wouldn’t end up like her. So far she wasn’t a grandmother and she had one teenage daughter left in high school. She prayed that Morgana wouldn’t get herself in trouble, but she knew that Morgana was the more responsible of the two of them. So even though she knew her young daughter was having sex with a boy that was about to turn 20, she knew Morgana would make good decisions. And she knew that Morgana was in love for the first time and she could never take that away from her, even if she ended up a mother. Some people thought she was crazy for letting her kids do what they wanted to, but she didn’t care what everybody else thought.

Before her husband could come down and tell her it was a mistake to let Morgana keep seeing this boy if it was causing such problems, she left. She felt that she’d given her daughter enough time, so she was headed across the street. Ever since eve moved in here, Morgana seemed to live at the Ferris’. But she was happy that Morgana had a friend again, after Corrina died, Ana wasn’t sure her daughter would ever have friends again. The door use to be unlocked in the afternoon, now everything was different. She rang the doorbell and Joan answered.

“The girls are in the kitchen,” Joan told her leading the way. “The boys felt the need to take a walk,” she told her.

“After what we walked in on I think David needs to take a walk,” Ana replied.

“Mom I can’t come home,” Morgana said when she saw her.

“What is going on with you and Tessa?” Ana asked taking a seat at the table where Eve and Morgana were sitting.

“She’s a lying jealous w***e who can’t stay out of my business,” Morgana said. “And she went to Mario’s house today to try to get him to have sex with her,” she went on. That wasn’t what Ana expected to hear, but it explained why they were trying to kill each other.

“I really don’t know what’s gotten into your sister lately,” Ana said.

“If I have to see her face again I’m going to hurt her,” Morgana told her.

“Is a boy really worth losing your sister?” She asked but the look on her daughter’s face made her regret it.

“Ask her that, I’m not breaking up with him because she’s jealous, Tessa can’t always get what she wants. I tried to talk to her and I tried to forgive her but she just keeps getting worse. I would never do this stuff to her,” Morgana said. That was true; Morgana was always the nicer sister.

“I did try to talk to her, but there is something about him that she seems to hate. If it’s ok with Joan maybe you could spend the night here,” Ana said looking up at Joan who nodded. Of course she wouldn’t say no, it seemed like Joan never said no to anything.

“That would be fine, Cornelius has been here the last couple of days,” she said.

“And I thought my rules were nonexistent,” Ana said. “You let her boyfriend spend the night?”

“He’s a good and respectful boy, I trust them both to make good decisions,” Joan said matter of factly. Ana did let her kids do what they wanted to but there was on way David would let his daughters have boys spend the night.

“We don’t do anything,” Eve said.

“I think I’m coming to live here,” Morgana said smiling for the first time since Ana had come home.

“I’ll talk to her, what she’s been doing to you is wrong. We can talk about this more once everybody has had a chance to get calm and have their space. Do you need me to bring you over some clothes?” Ana asked and she wasn’t surprised when Morgana shook her head, her and Eve were always wearing each others clothes. “Ok, I’m going to talk to your sister and I’m sure your father is jumping to conclusions like always. I’ll call you in the morning and we can figure everything out,” she said.

Morgana walked her to the door and hugged her, always the sweet one even if she would never admit it. Ana walked back across the street to her house, the chaos was not yet over. Tomorrow she had to prepare for the holiday and her mother would no doubt come over to hover over her. Once she had been foolish enough to think that once she grew up that her mother wouldn’t interfere in her life. She just really hoped that her daughters wouldn’t kill each other and they could make it through this holiday without too much drama.

Mario felt like his brain was going to explode, so the last place he wanted to go was home. So instead he decided to visit his cousin Kyle, who was home from school. Kyle was the smart one, he’d gone away for school, some days Mario wished he had. Today was one of those days, but if he had then he wouldn’t be with Morgana. After the scene at her house, he was almost ready to just give up on this whole relationship. It was too much drama with her sister, his mother and grandparents. Maybe they weren’t supposed to be together. He hated to think it but maybe it would be best for the both of them. But he knew he couldn’t break her heart and there was no way he could actually break up with her.

“The cradle robber comes to visit,” Kyle said when he opened the door.

“Talking to your little brother huh?” Mario replied as he entered the house.

“Since when is anything private in this family? I heard some interesting things about what you were doing in a limo,” Kyle said leading the way to his room.

“It’s not my fault that I’m irresistible,” he said and Kyle laughed. Once they had been inseparable, then Kyle went away fir college while Mario was forced to stay home.

“She’s hot for a child,” Kyle said. “I saw pictures, she’s Tessa Wrecker’s little sister right?” He asked, but Mario didn’t want to hear that name.

“Unfortunately,” he said while lying back on the couch in Kyle’s room.

“You know she had a crush on you all through high school right? Bet she’s pissed her little sister is with you and not her,” Kyle said. That was news to him, in high school he barely ever spoke to Tessa.

“Really? That would explain a lot,” he said closing his eyes; He was trying to recall any interaction he might have had with her in school, but that was so long ago.

“What she trying to get with you?” Kyle asked and he laughed because it was kind of obvious. “Did she actually do something?”

“That girl is crazy, she’s been trying to break us up and she came over to try to seduce me,” he said and Kyle stared at him. “I picked up Morgana from school and we were over her house and we did some stuff, then here comes Tessa. She watched us have sex, then she was yelling and they ended up fighting. Their parents came home and it was a mess,” he told him.

“They were fighting over you? Wow you really know how to cause trouble,” Kyle said shaking his head.

“If that girl says one more thing to me I might kill her,” Mario said.

“Why don’t you just end it and get out of all the drama?” Kyle asked, he was still wondering that himself.

“It’s complicated,” he sighed. “I love her,” he said. Kyle’s reaction wasn’t a surprise, who would believe that he would ever fall in love.

“You fell in love with her? It’s a joke right? She’s only 16, she goes to school with our little brothers,” Kyle said in obvious shock.

“A lot has changed since I last saw you,” Mario told him. “We have fun together and I don’t know it just kind of happened. Trust me I never expected it to happen when I saw her again, but Neil’s girl is her best friend.”

“I’m still surprised you of all people love some girl, you been hanging out with Neil way too long,” Kyle laughed.

“Pretty much, but Morgana’s not immature like most girls her age and ours,” he said. “And it doesn’t hurt that she’s easy on the eyes.”

“From the pictures I saw from formal little sister Wrecker looks way better than Tessa. So I’m guess the sex must be good, cause I know how you are.” Kyle said.

“She can work some magic,” he said before he could stop himself.

“I figured she had to be doing something to make you fall in love with her,” Kyle laughed. “Ok, I’ll stop making fun of you; it’s good that someone finally penned you down. So what’s this I hear you did to offend Gram?” He asked, of course Grandma Betty would call Aunt Rebecca and complain about him.

“At formal Morgana put her panties in my pocket and when I came home the next morning I threw the pants on the floor. Gram decided to do laundry or something and she found them. Then she told me I have no morals and she just was being annoying, I’m looking for a place. And I really don’t care that if Gorgon cuts me off, I need to get out,” Mario told him.

“Understandable, then you can do you girl without her sister watching or Gram finding her panties,” Kyle said laughing harder than before.

“I need a vacation,” Mario replied.

“James said ya’ll were thinking of Cancun for spring break, count me in, I need something to do. Though I would have appreciated being invited, cousin,” Kyle said.

“We still have months I would have gotten around to it,” Mario said dismissively.

Sitting here talking to his cousin was the least stressful thing that had happened in the last few weeks. He felt bad hat he’d had to just leave Morgana, when she was still upset. But he needed to get away from everything at the time. Later he would call her, but now he needed time. This was exactly what Tessa wanted, for him to get tired of the drama and break up with her sister. But he wasn’t going to do that, talking to Kyle about Morgana made him realized just how much he did love her. This just further proved that he needed more privacy. Having sex with his girlfriend at her parents’ house wasn’t a good idea, even under normal circumstances. It was just time for a lot of things in Mario’s life to change. Maybe then Tessa would get the picture and get a life of her own.

Eve had been mentally preparing herself for this for weeks, but suddenly she almost wished she never agreed to this. She’d always known her family was dysfunctional and crazy, but never like this. In her conversation with her father she learned that he had been trying to get in touch with her and Claira for years. And that Sanoe always made sure that he couldn’t. All those dreams that her and Claira had held onto of their family getting back together, were suddenly going down in flames in her mind. She knew her mother was a pathological liar, but she didn’t know that it was Sanoe’s fault that Antonio was in jail. There were a lot of things she learned in just a few minutes of talking to him. He couldn’t get in to details but Sanoe had gotten herself mixed up in trouble with some guys. The guys that in fact she remembered and has been blaming all these years for the destruction of her family. But it went a lot deeper than she had originally thought.

“Eve, you have to stay away from your mother, everything you’ve told me just proves that you are in danger,” Antonio said. “Both you and your sister are in trouble because of her,” he said.

“Well I’ve been trying but she won’t go away,” Eve said.

“I’m writing to you to try to explain this all better. I’ve been writing letters to you girls for years, so that some day I could get them to you. That woman is just not the one I married, she changed a lot and from what I hear she’s getting worse. She will do anything and stop at nothing to get you and Claira. I know she’s up to something, and my guess is that if she gets her hands on you, you will never be seen again,” he told her.

As she listened to her father’s warnings about her mother, Eve really started to worry. What was her mother going to do next? And would these letters tell her? She wished she could remain blissfully ignorant, but if she didn’t know what was going on then she wouldn’t be able to keep her mother away. Talking to her dad made her realized just how much she missed him. He wanted to know everything about her life and the time they had been apart. She told him the truth even though it was hard for him to hear, and it was even harder to tell. After their call ended Eve sat in her room reviewing everything he said so that she wouldn’t forget. Later she was going to the hospital to see Claira and she would have to tell her about all this. Even if she didn’t seem to understand, Eve know that her words had to be getting through to her sister.

“So what will you do to keep your mom away?” Morgana asked, she still hadn’t returned home.

“There’s nothing that can keep her away, she doesn’t understand that I don’t need her and I’m happy here,” Eve said.

“Maybe the police will be able to pick her up soon,” Morgana said hopefully.

“Even if they did she would get away or talk her way out of it,” she said. “Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere.” Eve loved her life here and her family, there was no way she was going anywhere, no matter what. She knew Sanoe well enough to try to figure something out. “I wish she would just give up,” she went on. But she knew no matter what she wanted, it just wasn’t going to happen.

Neil sat at the dinner table with his family, it was eerily quiet. Mimi wasn’t at the table, but he knew she was upstairs crying. What exactly was going on? Nobody dared ask any questions, and Gordon didn’t volunteer any answers. Dinner was almost over, when somebody finally spoke.

“What’s wrong with mother?” Molly asked, all eyes went from her to their father.

“Well I had hoped to wait until after dinner to tell you this, but your mother and I are divorcing,” he said simply. They just stared at him.

“Are you serious?” Chris asked and Gordon just nodded. “What brought this on?”

“For some time now Mimi and I have been growing apart, and especially with her recent behavior I felt it was time to remove her. She will most likely return to Paris in the coming weeks, so you all might want to spend time with her while you can. After the divorce is official I will be remarrying,” he said as if it was all perfectly normal.

The silence once again rolled over the room; nobody knew how to respond to this news. Neil sort of felt bad for his mother, because instead of her getting help she was losing everything. And the way his father spoke was like nothing was wrong. Officially he felt like his parents were truly insane. There was screaming and the sound of things crashing to the floor coming from down the hall. All the noise announced Mimi as she entered the dinning room screaming. She looked crazy, her hair was a mess and make up was running down her face and her crazed expression made her look scary.

“How dare you do this to me, I have children for you and you try to throw me out of my own home? You force me to have all these ungrateful children and you do this? Well guess what, I am pregnant!” Mimi shouted in her heavy French accent. But Gordon didn’t even flinch; he was unfazed by what she said.

“Mimi you drove all of my children out of their home and you’ve publically humiliated this family way too many times to count. Also there is your performance at Corrina’s benefit, have you no respect for your dead daughter? There is no reason the children should listen to a word you say, you need to go into the hospital like I told you,” he said calmly.

“I am having your baby! Did you not hear me? Another filthy child, I never wanted any of them. Why should I care of there is one less? Silly girl shouldn’t have gone out there,” Mimi said.

“It’s funny, I thought you could be forgiven one day,” Neil said standing up. “But I never want to see you again, Corrina is lucky that she doesn’t have to be here to deal with you,” he said leaving the room.

Somebody called after him, but he didn’t turn to see who. He went up to his room and dragged a suitcase out of his closet so he could pack the rest of his things. This was it for him, after all her other stunts he should have just gave up hope. But no he had to believe that she could change that she could get better and that she had love somewhere in her heart. No mother who said that her daughter deserved to die, deserved to be a mother at all. His mind was racing and his thoughts seemed to bounce off the walls, he was angry and wanted to go strangle her. Crazy thoughts went through his mind, but could he really hurt her? He wanted to for Corrina and his siblings and Juliet who was like a sister to him. What was his father thinking keeping such an unstable person around? There was so much anger and rage in him, he actually felt like he could kill somebody. A knock on his door made him turn, Damien was standing there in the doorway.

“You’re coming to live with Juliet and me,” he said. “We talked about it and she agrees it’s what’s best for you.”

“What about your baby? I don’t want to be in the way,” Neil replied.

“Don’t worry about the baby; you’re just coming to live with us. Chris and I have been talking about what to do about you, you’re the youngest and with no parents where do you go? Dad will never be one to stay home and who knows what’s gonna happen with his new woman or Mimi. And of course I know you don’t want to stay with the grandparents, so you don’t exactly have a choice. Mario is getting an apartment, but you’re a minor so I’m going to become your guardian,” Damien told him.

“Little brother, we’ve always looked out for each other, that will never change,” Molly said coming into the room.

“I know,” Neil said. “Thanks,” he was trying to calm his brain enough to process everything. “So is she really pregnant?”

“Dad doesn’t seem to think so,” Damien replied.

“She’s desperate she’d say anything at this point,” Molly said. It was funny, she use to be the one that had hope for Mimi.

“Let’s go, everybody is out in the car waiting, we can get your stuff later,” Damien said. And without anymore conversation they followed him out.

Neil knew that he might never live in this house again. And that his family would probably never live together again. The only thing that he was really sad about was that this was the home that he’d grown up with Corrina in. Her memory would forever be in this house, but her siblings wouldn’t. Now who knew what was going to happen with Gordon taking a new wife. After 28 years of marriage this was it for Mimi and Gordon, he was just surprised it hadn’t happened sooner. It was time to move on, and he just had another year and a half of school and he was free to do whatever he wanted. Hopefully that time wouldn’t drag on.

Claira stood staring out the window, she was bored. She wasn’t sure if she could keep this act up much longer, mostly because she knew it hurt her sister. Everyday Eve came by to try to cheer her up and everyday she felt guiltier. But she was doing this so that they could be together and she could get out of trouble. Well that was how it started after she’d lost it that day weeks ago. Now after giving it a lot of thought she was pretty sure that she needed to get away from Eve. When she’d decided to come rescue her sister she never imagined that Eve would be happy. They were never happy in foster home before, but something was different.

When she really thought about all the places they lived and all the people, maybe it was her. She didn’t want to be with any of those people so she caused as much trouble as she could. And because she wanted to go home to Italy she’d guilt tripped her sister into doing so many bad things. All Eve wanted was to be happy and now she had that, just not with Claira. It was hard to see Eve with her new mother that looked at her lovingly and adoringly, nobody ever cared about Claira like that. Only Eve ever really loved her, but she didn’t deserve it. She’d done some awful things to her sister and forced her into so many things. And how did Eve repay Claira for her years of suffering? With love, she wanted her to come live with her perfect little family. What was even stranger was that these people were ok with it. Where the heck was she?

The doctors here in her opinion where really stupid, how could they not see through her? Escaping wouldn’t be too hard; it wasn’t when she was locked away before. That time in fact had been too easy. All she had to do was charm a few guys up there and charm a guard or two and her mother provided transportation. She could get anything she wanted; all it took was a little time and she charming personality. But she wasn’t sure where she would go now; Eve had told her some things about their mother that made her want to stay away. Going to live with Eve and her family wasn’t really a possibility for her. Even if these people were nice that was Eve’s life and she deserved to be happy. So what to do?

As if by fate there was a knock on the door, and who should come in but her mother. She’d known Sanoe would show up sooner or later. Sanoe came across the room and hugged her before she could get away. This had to be a sign, she knew exactly what she had to do, but there was a huge risk.

“Clair bear what happened to you? I heard that you’ve been like this for weeks,” Sanoe said guiding her to a chair to sit down. Since when did her mother pretend to be nurturing and generally motherly?

“Oh cut your fake sympathy Sanoe,” Claira said. It was the first time she’d spoken since she’d flipped out when she was admitted.

“I figured you were faking,” Sanoe said shaking her head. “So what’s your game? How are we going to rescue your sister from these people? I’ve done some homework on them and I think I could get rid of them. They did a good job on her though,” she said.

“Mother, Eve hasn’t been brainwashed she’s just happy and those people love her,” Claira said. “Anyway I have a plan,” she told her and predictably Sanoe smiled. The plan came together as soon as her mother walked in the room, she knew what she had to do but Eve was definitely not going to be happy about this.

“I think I love Mr. Jay,” Morgana was saying and Eve just laughed. They were lying on the couch at Mario’s new 3 bedroom townhouse; it was the day after Christmas.

“Only because now you can have sex all you want,” she replied and Morgana shrugged. She was too busy playing on Mario’s laptop. The guys went to pick up a pizza and buy a movie to watch. “I’ve never had a Christmas like this,” she went on.

“Don’t you love rich boyfriends? We both got the latest Iphone and necklaces from Tiffany’s and I got hot Manolo stilettos,” Morgana said kicking her feet in the air. Even though they were in the house all day she was wearing her $600 shoes that she had to have.

To Eve spending $600 on shoes was insane, though she’d never had much money most of her life. Now she had an 18 karat gold double heart necklace that cost more than anything else she owned. On one of the hearts hers and Neil’s initials were engraved and the date that they first started hanging out. He also bought her paints and a new sketch book, until she’d moved here she’d given up her love for art. Lately she was drawing and painting whenever she had free time. For Christmas she’d painted a picture of her and Neil together and given it to him. She’d also bough him a book he wanted and made him a build a bear Eve. Both she and Morgana made themselves as build a bears and at the time she thought it was cute. But when she thought about how much he spent on her, she felt like her gifts were lame. Morgana on the other hand didn’t seem to care at all and her other gift to Mario was lingerie for her to wear for him. Even though Eve and Neil had been together for months now she still wasn’t use to his excess of money. Everywhere they went he paid for everything and he was always buying her things. And she never knew people that gave real estate for a Christmas presents. Mario now owned this fully furnished townhouse.

“It’s weird,” she replied and Morgana rolled her eyes. “Remember I use to steal and have sex for money, it wasn’t for fun it was cause we had nothing. I feel so guilty accepting these gifts,” she went on.

“Sweetie pie, it’s ok to be happy and enjoy the good life. I’m not rich but I am use to getting what I want, if my parents didn’t buy for me I use to find guys that would. So its normal for me, just let Neil spoil you it helps his ego and he loves you. Besides didn’t the parents buy you a Tiffany’s charm bracelet? They give you everything you want too, stop thinking in dollar signs,” Morgana told her. “So tell me is it paranoia or stalking if I check his internet history?” She asked referring to Mario’s laptop.

“A lil of both,” Eve told her. “Look cause I know you can’t help it and I bet he can’t either,” she said getting up so she could see the screen. “Eww, Mo you are so bad.”

“You weren’t supposed to see that,” Morgana said laughing. The desktop background on the computer was a picture of her in her panties. “That’s not the worst of it, he has ones where I’m naked,” she told her.

“I so don’t need to see those,” Eve said. “So did you wear your s****y lingerie for him yet?”  She asked, though she was pretty sure she knew the answer since Mario and Morgana slept here last night.

“Oh yeah, but it didn’t stay on for long,” Morgana said with a dreamy look in her eyes. “It’s nice to be able to do whatever I want to, like walk around the house naked.”

“That doesn’t surprise me at all,” Eve replied. She rolled on to her back and stared at the ceiling while Morgana was looking through Mario’s internet history. This had been a crazy year and in less than a week it would be over and she could really move forward into her future with the life she’d always wanted.

The day had been going well and that was saying something considering how the rest of the week was. After his father bought him a townhouse for Christmas, he was pretty sure things would change. Now he was free to live his own life and have some privacy. But of course nothing in his life these days was ever this simple, there was always something. And when he saw Mimi’s car parked out in front of his townhouse when he and Neil pulled up.

“Just ignore her,” Neil told him before they got out.

“Mario, Cornelius,” Mimi called getting out of her car. “I need to talk to you both,” she said.

“I have nothing to say to you,” Neil said going inside, he was carrying the pizzas.

“Go home, don’t come here again,” Mario told her. He tried to walk pass her but she grabbed on to his arm and gave him a pleading look.

“Boyfriend,” Morgana called coming down the hall, she stood in the doorway staring at them.

“Tell your child girlfriend she should put some clothes on,” Mimi said to him. Here was trouble, why couldn’t she just go away? Maybe if she did he could stop hating her so much, but she wouldn’t take a hint.

“Mimi leave,” he said trying hard to avoid a fight. Instead he tried to focus on how good Morgana looked in the shorts and tank top she was wearing.

“I think I’ll go back inside,” Morgana said glaring at Mimi. She turned and walked back down the hall, he knew she was annoyed.

“Another girl for you to get in trouble,” Mimi said shaking her head. “I can’t always clean up your messes, but call me when you get this one pregnant.”

“What?” Mario asked confused, what was she talking about.

“Oh right I guess that silly girl kept her word after all,” she said with a humorless laugh. “Your senior year right after your sister died, a girl showed up to our house claiming you got her pregnant. So I took care of it, it is amazing what a little money can get you. I took her to the clinic and gave her some money so that we could pretend it never happened. And what do you do now? You parade around this little girl with her skimpy clothing and you act like she’s not in it for money. What will you do when you get this one pregnant? That will be when you quit acting like a child and learn to respect your mother, despite the lies that have been planted in your head I am looking out for your best interest. Sooner or later you will see,” she said them smiled and got back into her car.

As Mimi drove away Mario stood there on the side walk watching her car disappear. The trouble was that he knew she was telling the truth, who else would proudly say that they paid a teenage girl to have an abortion? Suddenly he had the feeling that Mimi’s visit was a sign that nothing good was going to happen any time soon. Why had she come here anyway? Was it just to taunt him about something that happened three years ago? What sense did that even make? Mimi didn’t always make sense but maybe spending Christmas alone in a big empty house really drove her off the deep end. But this whole baby thing, it was so wrong. If he’d have known there was no way he would have let that happen. But it was too late now and there was no going back, that didn’t top his anger from rising.

“The witch is gone?” Morgana asked appearing in the doorway and knocking him from his momentary trance.

“Let’s not talk about her,” he said finally entering his house. He kissed her and she smiled at him. For once he really didn’t feel like having sex and he didn’t feel like being bothered with anyone. All he wanted right now was to be alone so he could think, but he had company over. And he wasn’t about to tell them what Mimi had told him, what was the point in digging up the past? Even though he knew once he got a chance that he was going to find this girl and figure out what happened.
