will's web

A Poem by William Michael Reeves
"

Retaliatory poetry

"
This poet weaves his heart's desires in ink;
spins webs of thought to catch the curious.
'Tween lines he hides surprise to make you think
that you've been caught in joy, like all of us.

With silk he pens his verse ... the trap is set;
spun love with hope to bait arachnid's prey.
Casts flights of fancy's fine poetic net ~
unique ideas from a mind at play.

Impaled upon a creeping spider's quill,
we poisoned readers read this writer's write.
There's no escape ~ we're paralyzed by will!
Wrapped up like bugs, we're happy for our plight.

If poetry that makes you smile is sought,
be careful, in will's web you might get caught.

Author's Note

William Michael Reeves
willweb wrote a poem for me. Actually talked to me in the poem. The nerve of him! The dishonorable mention caused me to contemplate commiting poeticide. But I decided my only recourse was to write a poem about him. Expose him for the poetic predator he is ... feeding on our smiles like juicy flies.

I recently read your poem and was struck by the way you use the imagery of a spider spinning its web to describe your craft. The idea of "webs of thought" catching the reader's curiosity and the "surprise" hidden between the lines is really effective, and I found myself drawn in by your words. Your poem is both playful and thought-provoking, and I appreciate the way you celebrate the power of poetry to delight and inspire readers. Thank you for sharing your work with the world!

A fun write Bill and far more than a mention in dispatches for will. A fine tribute no less for a weaver of webs and equal praise should be given for the someone who has exposed his talents. Enjoyed the read.

Very clever to catch a Web with a web. Moral of the story don't with spiders play or you may end up their prey. A fun read.

To satisfy your prey and catch him paralyzed in your Bill's belly, You should have written this with no periods or dots, in this way, You will tempt him with no escape. some Gouwnie sprite's evil dust is good😏. anyway, after reading this don't go to commit a poeticide, because this is still REALLY good with enough preys in your ink's web. even will won't be able to resist the allure. Her Highness applauds You Mr. Billigami.

I am honored my friend and apparently a few days late on seeing this. I appreciate this kind, poetic gesture and your friendship (even if you are a period guy). Honestly I am speechless and thank you doesn't seem to fit the Bill...get it, fit the Bill? Thanks again my friend. No poeticide around, just happy poets. : )

Hey, you are making progress. : )
Great write yourself and a special tribute to Will’ poetry, which is deliciously inviting and yes one can get caught up in Will’s web, those dreamy eyed writes of love, lust and a a bit of nostalgia….utterly romantic and rhymed to perfection…. Nice of you to bring this to our attention because Will deserves it…..
