Solid Gold

Solid Gold

Of primordial earth new metal's born,
as elements forged ~ made in fire's fusion.
Where Aurum flows through planet's mantel torn,
embedded ore cools ~ time's long conclusion.

There were no skies; no life ... just future wished,
when Pyrite baked in nature's hot oven.
As floods then washed, Earth's bare surface flourished;
revealed lustrous veins ~ discover men.

For centuries, beholden eyes worship
uncounted wonders ~ shine to wield sun.
Kings, queens, fools 'n wealthy merchants courtship
young lover's hope ~ engineer riches won.

Where coins sing jeweled songs ... beauty thus sold,
becomes the music made of solid gold!

After writing 'Once A Boulder', I liked the idea of writing about such an exciting subject ... rocks. More geologic poetry to come.

Thanks for the geology lesson/poem. I wonder, if the earth was made entirely of gold, men would kill each other over a handful of dirt.

a different kind of Gold than that on Billboard top 100 and yet, still the kind that everyone hopes to play...

Caught me expecting a different subject but the one I found was definitely a melodic piece of hard rock poetry for sure. You have taken a piece of the earth and form it into a beautiful sonnet. Nicely done.
