Solid GoldA Poem by William Michael ReevesRock Sonnets series
Of primordial earth new metal's born,
as elements forged ~ made in fire's fusion. Where Aurum flows through planet's mantel torn, embedded ore cools ~ time's long conclusion. There were no skies; no life ... just future wished, when Pyrite baked in nature's hot oven. As floods then washed, Earth's bare surface flourished; revealed lustrous veins ~ discover men. For centuries, beholden eyes worship uncounted wonders ~ shine to wield sun. Kings, queens, fools 'n wealthy merchants courtship young lover's hope ~ engineer riches won. Where coins sing jeweled songs ... beauty thus sold, becomes the music made of solid gold! 2022 © 2023 William Michael ReevesAuthor's Note
