Birds All In A TwitterA Poem by William Michael ReevesSocial satire
If all the birds twitter and tweet
in simultaneous cacophony, can the bird still be heard? Eager eagles lead piercing shrills of patriotism. Jays say reds and whites are mocking blue. Starlings star in their own opinions. Thrushes rush to false conclusions. Crows row over scraps of alternative facts. Hawk's squawks fall on deaf ears. Quail rail ~ fail to change anyone's mind. Parrots rot in repetitive speech. Gulls pull back, watching for opportunities to bully the pulpit. Buzzards buzz about the death of civility. Turkey's key unlocks nothing worth saying. Swallows wallow in baths of Musk. Sparrows spar with Elon in sinking debate. Falcons con their way into the flock preying on social media. Finches inch along, careful not to offend. Blackbirds lack the need for color commentary. Ravens rave about black existence. Kingfisher fish for compliments and complaints. Hummingbirds hum syrupy songs. Robins rob wigglin' wordworms. Woodpeckers peck until trees bark in irritation. Doves love peace and quiet! Larks? They're off on nothing to speak of. 2022 © 2023 William Michael ReevesAuthor's Note
