Ballad For She Who Sings Our Light

Ballad For She Who Sings Our Light

A Poem by William Michael Reeves
"

Inspired by, and written for lightsong

"
Forest of song as swords of light
are thick with life and words,
those deeds of valor wield might
so sung by singing birds

who fly on notes such fairies write ~
sharp lyrics lay so flat
reflecting thought not wrong, but right
as justice tries for that;

for truth can fly on wings we heard
though trebled clefts bring fright
so listen with your heart assured
that magic can take flight

to cast a spell that speaks of peace
across love's habitat
we'll find the tension, then release ~
we sit and have a chat

'bout how to get all war to cease ...
ideas time gathered,
we rest on hope makes hate decrease
composed by truth concurred.

Then plans were made to take the fight ~
she phrased a masterpiece
fay forged a sword that sharpens sight ...
love's tempo does increase

as hearts that beat will see combat
strong faith does evil spite
wherever music ... heavens at,
so passed to Earth for sprite

to harmonize in fifths and thirds ~
contrive a peaceful piece
that carries love on wings of birds
with notes as soft as fleece

she sang her name as day turned night,
took wing on words that stirred
our courage versed makes war on blight
an army not deterred

by evil sought, nor swayed caprice
revealed truth begat
from words as swords, one blade apiece
light's loving diplomat

found strength in all, her need deferred
to soldiers who recite
her poets watched her fly on peace ...
blew stardust kisses bright.

Then in mid-air, some thought occurred
for when she called moonlight
a chorus rang her name unheard,
"Fay Fairie Gouwnie Sprite!"

Author's Note

William Michael Reeves
This is inspired by lightsong's beautiful poetry, and her reviews of my poems and other's that I've read. It was triggered by a message she sent me last week where she talked of the Fifth Heaven and gods wielding swords. (I think that is where miracles twinkle) Her name, her poetry and her truth felt right for a ballade. The origin of the name? I was embarrassed to learn I had been spelling her name wrong. To make light of it I started calling her Gouwnie.

Gouwnah sings songs of truth and love and beauty. Her words for ours are encouraging and inspiring. She really is our general in a war waged with words. Battles won with truth and love and beauty. She sings our songs in loving light! I have recently mentioned how if an army of poets could march on to the senate floor and recite our poetry, tears would wash the sense into them all. I can see lightsong at the lead with a sword of light!

I couldn't have said it better, and I totally agree. Much of her work inspires love and hope. These two most important virtues of humanity we yearn for. It is what this world needs more than anything during these trying times. Her arts represents the voice of a world in poetry. And just how remarkable this world wide community of professional writers here at the Cafe is of both importance and value to the universe. Nicely penned tribute William.

A tribute to a dear poet who inspires you with her strong and well cradted words..there should be no wars ,but peace and love instead...she is subtle about her politics so much so, it is hidden in between her beautiful lines. Your tribute is outstanding.

I am here now :>

I only have two wishes, to live like this until my last breath, and when the day of my passing come, to fade like Fay Sprite. the last two verses particularly touching, after the mission is done, now back to the neverland :> your poem before saying beautiful, I would say meaningful and touching, we all need this... we all need peace and love, and as poets, we all need our words. we must keep bringing the light to everything matter what, no matter how darker the world becomes... and You dear Bill brought all the lights to your page here, we, not only me, should be thankful for You, it feels as if You are calling... and all answered.

Thank You with bunches of Sprite's wondrous poeticaldust, and lightful breeze of miraculous hymns ✨🎶✨
