Author's Note

William Michael Reeves
Often I wonder how Billigami can take a huge square of ideas, sometimes I have to stretch my arms to get the corners, and fold them into the smallest intricate models. And why do I need to do that? It's insatiable! At the risk of putting some of you off, I think I know why. In my youth I ate a lot of mushrooms. For ten years at least once a month, sometimes once a week. There has been much research on the effects of psilocybin on the human brain. Apparently it creates new pathways in our minds. I have experienced this first hand. I GROK mushrooms. I'm convinced on some of those paths walk my poems. The more I write the clearer those paths become. After reading Carlos' review of the Senryu I wrote for him, now I think those paths are somehow connected to Gaia. (Do I smell a poem there?) mushrooms are going to be legal everywhere soon. That's a scary thing and exciting thing for humanity. That more and more people will be able to walk those new paths, carefully I hope. Perhaps some of you know just what I'm talking about....?)

Your title hooked me ... my mind reeled back to the 60s when i read the heck out of "Brave New World" ... haiku and senryu are the perfect forms for all minimalists ... the innate rhythm is sublime, as is, the syllable count, conducive to the "heavy head" (a term from the 60s for someone who thinks deeply) impressions .. in my opinion of course .. i love them and this one has a solid statement ... with wisdom and nice touch of sarcasm, the foible ...
i agree .. we can all take heed to perceive .. there are many mysteries not seen with the physical "eye" ... as for the mushrooms .. i disagree with your believe they will be legalized .. and they are not needed for the perceptions I think you are looking for in this poem.. after all .. it is a drug and anything after eating is the drug speaking .. not the person ... altered states are just that ..altered and not necessarily the revelation of something that is true ... its the same with alcohol .. we get drunk and think our inhibitions being "altered" makes us free when in many cases we are acting like an a*s. ;) we don't need them! :) love your senryu ..great title .. deep inspirations ..glad i stopped by to read.

The only mushrooms I know of are either sauteed in brandy or deep fried. :) for most of thr people today if they would turn off all the noise makers they could see much more than they do.

Ps great poem
But that’s the problem, it’s personal unless we grow beyond ourselves, not gonna happen, we’re too tiny. Well done and thought provoking.

Hi Bill, well you say so much in so few words. I agree with your words, we should have more perception in this world. If we could but see where we were going, we could stop where we are headed, for it doesn't seem so good. Where has the true humanity gone? Love the content. Have a wonderful Friday....Mike.

misconceptions, and skewed perceptions seem the norm....but there has to be a book, Perceptions for Dummies....

something, because we just are too judgmental ...we need to have much more humanity than we display.
