My Mysterious Song

My Mysterious Song

A Poem by William Michael Reeves
"

A poem about writing poems. When the emotions get in the way of the words.

"
Something slipped
Deep in my heart.
Then I flipped
Not acting my role
Nor playing my part.

Now it's gone
Has been for so long
Yet I still search
For my mysterious song.

When I flipped
And problems did start
I firmly clipped
My giving whole.
An emotional fart.

Still it's gone
Will be for so long
Yet I must search
For my mysterious song.

After I clipped
And pruned my heart
On fresh canvas I whipped
A cleaner soul.
A brand new art.

Is it gone?
If so, for how long
To the end of my search
For my mysterious song?

As I whipped
And fashioned my art
This thought I shipped
For a small toll
To my lonely heart.

It was never gone
All these years so long
It's the actual search
That is my mysterious song!

This poem reminds me of all the unfinished work in my notebooks. going back years. Every now and again I am able to revisit and complete what I started. Finding the right emotions and the right words second time around. This is an amusing way of looking at a common problem experienced by writers. Thank you William.

Well done, Mr. Reeves. And I believe you are right; many songs are written that way, mysteriously.

Glad you enjoyed!
A mirthful jaunt at rediscovering self and the art that dwells within. Who hasn't soul searched in hopes of finding enlightenment and taping into the reservoir of creativity. Your poem speaks to just that journey we must all make at one time or another. Great job William.
