Carrie's SmileA Poem by William Michael ReevesAnother poem about someone I've cared for. I wish more people could know the unconditional happiness I've witnessed.
When you smile....
You welcome our giving nature You invite the unconditional caring You need, and we need to give ~ To change our lives in kindness Sharing the opportunity Connecting our knowledge as we strive ~ To change your life together. When you smile... Time stops the struggle of your circumstance Rhythms of hope fill your future Centuries of tragedy wash away ~ To reveal a past when you were a princess Whose beauty was legendary Across the villages of your ancestral tribe ~ To now walk in dreams with your mother. When you smile... We are relieved the cycle of comfort returns We hope with wonder it was something We did, that brought us together in its warmth ~ To share the fleeting moment and witness Your eyes reflect the light our hearts see Learning your language when your voice comes alive ~ To sing the song of laughter. When you smile you give all that you have... And it is enough! © 2021 William Michael ReevesAuthor's Note
