the fist

the fist

A Poem by Billie Troy

out with friends

dance with chills

he finds me there,

again.

pulls me away

locks the door

“outside world unfair”

i paint faces

people i used to know

he sees the lust in their eyes

feels the love they feel

he soon destroys with cheer

stands center

work complete

it kills me

inside out

he takes me in

“I love yous” with a fist

he crushes my soul

charging darkness

now I’m gone

morning bird awakes me

cool wind fills my air

i reach out

trapped

all alone

handcuffed to a bed

why does he do this?

torture me with love

i can’t feel what real is

and he can’t feel his heart

can’t escape this hell

feet only go so far

his rotten art

is treading on my shattered insides

free me gods above

kill me if you must

just let me live untouched

with justice in my must
