The sea and me

The sea and me

A Poem by William J. Marsh
"

The life of a seaman.

"

The sea wants to have me.

My soul from it is free.

I am the master you see.

And this shall never be.

 *

Every day a sailing I will go.

Wind rain sleet and snow.

Sailing I must go.

 *

The sea wants to have me.

And this shall never be.

 *

Year by year goes by.

I am there on the seas of hi.

Another year and sailing am I.

*

The sea wants to have me.

And this shall never be.

 *

Now I am old.

A sailor so bold.

Onto sailing I hold.

 *

The sea wants to have me.

And this shall never be!

This is amazing! The flow and thought are excellent. And I loved the way you kept on repeating "The sea wants to have me. And this shall never be." I felt the free spirited and strong nature of the sailor. And I liked the fact that it could be a poem about life as well. Wonderfully done!

This reminds me of a sea shanty. Love the rhyming scheme. Tell the man in the poem to carry on keeping charge of the sailing lugger and keeping the sea at bay!

Brilliantly written Bill, this floats on your page as the majestic sea never dies, good tale of perseverance.

This is not just about the sea...it is about life. Simple and elegant in it's wording, the poem has amazing depth and I just loved the determination. You convey the truly indefatigable spirit of a sailor in a very endearing way. Loved reading it.

I felt the forlorn emotion... the yearning within... and missed opportunities...

This is so beautiful! I am a child of the sea, and adore this piece, for it touches me deeply!
I will most definitely be reading more of your work of art.

Stunning flow and rhyme!! :)

When the sea water is in your blood, its waves hit the shore of your heart and brain. There is a freedom on the water that is very special. I liked the lyrical feel of this one. lydi**
