Silence

Silence

A Poem by Bill MacEachern

Silence speaks
It’s heard and it’s loud
Not saying a word
Says, I will allow

Silence wobbles
Unsteady it stands
Like a good ostrich
That blends with the sands

Silence is safety
With no point of view
Silence don’t matter
Until it is you

Silence is sneaky
It hides, it evades
It ducks and it weaves
Avoiding THEIR say

Silence is dull
No shine and no glow
Whoever said golden
Knows nothing at all

Silence risks nothing
No skin in the game
Don’t open the door
Just lean on the gate

Silence knows nothing
Don’t ask them the score
Three sleeping monkeys
Know nothing no more

Silence is guilty
Without a defense
The guilt will distill
In all their silence
