School Of Life

School Of Life

A Poem by Bill MacEachern

School Of Life

Never travelled
’Round the world
But been
Around that block

Never really
Finished school
But read a
Many book

Didn’t chef
Le Cordon Bleu
But surely
I can cook

Didn’t train at
Juilliard
But feet danced
All they could

Never been to
Prison
But did
My own time

By building up
So many walls
In my
Own mind

It isn’t where ya
Went to school
It’s all in
Where ya been

I’ve been around
So many folks
Who’ve taught me
How to live
