Afraid

Afraid

A Poem by Bill

Afraid

Flames lick these mortal wounds
blackened, all desire swoons
hope sweeps the light away
makes you wish for no day

Desire begins where day ends
lust in the touch of a friend
solemn vows thrown away
you say good bye, but you’ll stay

Breathe upon the candle’s flame
let the night hide your shame
inside this heat we must remain
unspilled blood leaves this stain

Chains of duty hold you bound
screaming souls make no sound
a fear you could never wish
served with garnish on this dish

A meal to eat with no knife
your soul to steal and your life
lay them down into my hands
darkness seals these bloody plans

I like to write poetry; I would love to actually finish a work of fiction, mostly fantasy, historical fiction, science fiction. Life seems to crowd the stories in my head so that they have a hard tim.. more..
