A Toast to Life

A Toast to Life

A Poem by Bill

A Toast to Life

bliss and sorrow mixed as one

sweet elixir tasted once, deed done

senses reeling from passioned kiss

of hemlock’s arrow never missed

            blood boils away the pain

            tears wash away the stain

push the knife against the grain

            sweet elixir, life’s mortal bane

now your lips pressed to mine

heartbeats race in stilled time

the future lost the moment seized

one last image in my mind freezed

            blood boils through my veins

            tears that rust mortal chains

push the knife against the grain

taste my breath, live my pain

About
I like to write poetry; I would love to actually finish a work of fiction, mostly fantasy, historical fiction, science fiction. Life seems to crowd the stories in my head so that they have a hard tim.. more..
