Tribute to the Fallen Soldier

Tribute to the Fallen Soldier

A Poem by BikerAngie

As I sat on the park bench reminiscing
I remembered your touch oh so gentle
The smell of your after shave oh so pleasant
The way you smiled that crooked smile
The twinkle in your eyes
The laughter in your voice

The darkness overtakes me
As I remember
The line of people shaking my hand
The way they carried your coffin that day
The rain drops covered my tears
The walk to the limo seemed endless

A little hand clutching mine
He looked so grown up
Face filed with pain
As we payed homage
To the man they called hero
He called Daddy

I walk home
Put on your old tee shirt
Climb into our bed
I lay there starring at your picture
Weeping in my pillow
As the baby you will never see moves in my belly

The war goes on
The soldiers families forgotten
Left in the shadows
How many more must die
How many families must we shatter
How many hero’s must we bury

wow i dont even know what to say, its so beautiful. it made me sad to think about all those families who have to live with the loss of their relative over a war. i think you portrayed the feeling very well, allthough i dont know what its like. my dad went to war but hes home with me right now. anyways amazing work! 100 100
