TO RISE LIKE THE PHOENIX

TO RISE LIKE THE PHOENIX

A Poem by BikerAngie

TO RISE LIKE THE PHOENIX OUT OF THE ASHES

THOUGH THE DARKNESS THREATENED TO OVERTAKE ME

THE FLAMES THREATENED TO ENGULF ME

I SHALL RISE AGAIN

HEAD HELD HIGH WINGS SPREAD WIDE

I SHALL FLY INTO THE DARKNESS EYES WIDE OPEN

MY NEW FOUND STRENGTH LIGHTING MY WAY

TO FALL NO MORE

INTO THE PITS OF DISPEAR AND GLOOM

LESSONS WELL LEARNED

RELEASING THE DEATH GRIP ON HIM

SO THAT I MIGHT SOAR ONCE AGAIN

NO LONGER TO BE GROUNDED TO THIS EARTH

FREE TO BE WHO I WAS MEANT TO BE

A BETTER PERSON FOR HIS LOVE

LESSONS LEARNED AS TO WHO I AM ABLE TO BE

FOR ME AND GOD, I SHALL LIVE NOT HIM I WILL GO ON GROWING

THE PAIN ONLY STRENGTHENS MY RESOLVE

TO LIVE, LEARN AND GROW

LOVE AS NEVER BEFORE

HE TAUGHT ME TO LOVE AS I NEVER LOVED BEFORE

TO LOVE UNCONDITIONALLY

TO LOVE IN THE MOMENT WHOLE HEATEDLY

TO BE OPEN TO THE POSSIBILITIES

HE TAUGHT ME I WAS CAPABLE OF TRUE LOVE

HE TAUGHT ME TO LOVE IN THE MOMENT

LIFE HAS TAUGHT ME I AM CAPABLE OF LOVING MYSELF

FOR LOVING ONESELF IS THE BEGINNING OF LOVING ALL

AS THE INNER PEACE SETS IN

SO DOSE THE NEED TO SOAR

TO BE ALL I CAN BE

ALL I WAS MEANT TO BE

SO LIKEN THE PHOENIX I SHALL RISE AGAIN OUT OF THE ASHES

How could I not love this? I too am a survivor of domestic violence. Those of us who have survived know the real meaning behind the phoenix, do we not? To rise from our own ashes and be reborn from the fire. Thank you for sharing this. You have no idea how greatly it touched me.
