The Christening

The Christening

A Poem by Shin ( formerly known as ) Bidayah

Do you remember, Anthonio, the child that we raised?

Held all our hopes and expectant promises of life,

And he did good didn't he? Saw us through our tribulations.

I think we thought we did some good for the world too,

Did the world come to us when the child become sick?

Apply a balm, hold our hand, flash a smile of understanding?

I know what you are thinking. You think they hesitated,

Didn't rush in to give us an embrace and hold us in place,

You're tired my friend. Here, have another shot of the moonshine.

They didn't rush in because the world was healing the child,

Perhaps we thought it was us. That we needed the assurance,

How we get deluded when managing the kingdom of the child ,

Its the magical and wonderous nature that turns us into jello.

You think the world would want to take over from us? Naaah!
