Altar Boys

Altar Boys

A Poem by Shin ( formerly known as ) Bidayah

Altar boys, like alternate realities,

Produce a daze in our crafted ways,

So dizzying sometimes, it causes haste,

The star Altair, a spinning top in the sky,

Moves! The twelfth brightest star above!

In a universe of billions and billions of them.

Yet how does a father deal with a bright one?

He's perhaps a farmer, a grocer, or maybe a doctor,

But you hitch yourself to a star and look out!

It'll take a chorus of voices to bring you down,

Lightly, on terra firma, in the place of your birth.

No longer riding the glaciers or the storms,

But a home. It is what you make of it.
