The Battle at Myrna

The Battle at Myrna

A Poem by Shin ( formerly known as ) Bidayah

Shin's greatest battle took place in the recent past,

This is where he fought alone, deep behind enemy lines,

On chariot drawn by one foolhardy and another brave, horse,

Like a David that was behind enemy lines in Assyria,

An Aeneas who fought with the tribes of the Tiber,

It was an engagement between one man and the world.

The enemy realized that here was a man of purpose,

Which they discerned and identified the reason and person,

Such a person was in their ranks, providing false facts,

Especially about the nature of humanity in the world.

Shin slew the conjuring mongrel and drew the respect of the enemy,

But Bidayah succumbed to his injuries and was brought back,

And  he returned to his people in the village of Sham.

Where he recuperates today slowly and with some regrets,

Shin has been outcast by his own people for his foolhardiness,

But receives the hospitality of the father in Rome,

A fine example to others on the propriety of the self.
