The Court of King Fedick

The Court of King Fedick

A Poem by Shin ( formerly known as ) Bidayah

In the court of King Fedick are many wonderful things,

Promises from long ago, stored like apple candy on shelves,

Costumed dancers, glimmering like stars, as they swirl their bodies,

To the rhythm of drums and cymbals, gongs that sound bare and loud,

Beautiful ladies, whose eyes are penciled black, peer poignantly,

Foreigners in many manner of tongues and hats, bear gifts for his majesty.

Delighted am I at the memories of such events, where they promised joy,

But now, in the cold snows of the mountains, I miss the regalia.

Wonderful sounds the court of King Fedick. The last line is quite moving.
