Public TheaterA Poem by Shin ( formerly known as ) Bidayahby Shin
Its everywhere, the greatest show on earth, Be it TV, newspapers, movies, plays and internet, Its a switch away to all that entertainment, That we are as the human civilization, Incredible repose on the nature of the living! What understanding they bring of the world! Kids on Saturdays pick up on cartoons, What Virgil would have taken half-a-life to know. Of these, the afternoon soaps bring something close, To the living nature of experiences, Then the newspapers that report actual events, Art imitates life as much as the other way, And quite often there's where she heals him, From a malady worse than death, The close dependency of love and obsession, Before he embarrasses himself with her, A friend would do that for another. It's like a surgical procedure without painkillers, She discovers you in bed with someone younger, The papers get hold of it, it makes morning news, The whole world is talking about your prick, And how you couldn't keep it in your pants. As a remedy, it's like Appalachian moonshine, Kicks like a mule and bites like a rattler. It takes a bit of time but he gets over it, The chauvinism of the society of pricks, Don't know how to get laid but make out like they do. Soon he creates some appreciation for the female, And the fact that he ought to take a little trouble, To find out about her and speak nice, A little effort is all it takes to wipe the ' shinny-away,' That's the feeling that you ' can't face anybody.' It does get better and you're glad for it, And I'm thinking that public theater, May well be getting more popular than TV, Its real, it gets real and its the reality.
