The Significant Other

We don't move in the same circle,

But we relate to the other as friend,

The world is too big to represent one view,

By one person who tires of being true,

Especially when there are huge opposites.

I represent one aspect and she the other,

And where we come into contact with the other,

Its always with a sensual candor between us,

Which helps us understand why we couldn't stay as one,

Our friends see us in this scheme of relation,

They realize we order it ourselves for our benefit,

And when one faces a situation that's difficult,

We handle it alone with no expectation of help,

We don't blame the world and we don't have a catharsis.

But what's best in what we are, is curious,

Together we combine to form the world,

The way it began, grew and came to this day,

That's the benefit we get from allowing the other,

Their will and freedom to fully be themselves.

We believe it is the nature of man in the world,

And someday more will relate to it this way,

Until then, I stay next door to the other fella,

She agrees that it might be for the best.

I agree with this type of relationship.. separate yet conjoined, together yet apart . I believe this is how we grow as individuals..I think we are always alone to a certain degree even in the best of relationships..perhaps it's just me It's how we enter this world then take our leave.
