Nobody With YouA Poem by BibliophileA cute little nothing I wrote just a little while ago. It doesn't really relate to me, but it came out as word vomit, and I thought it would be nice first addition to the site. You get shouldered in the hallways As the jock-buffs push on through. When I say your name quite dreamily People often ask me, “Who?” You may not be real popular Or known to Timbuktu But I’d gladly be nobody with you. You get stepped on in the lunch line And picked last for kickball teams. But I promise you you’re the only one Who’s always in my dreams. While the average folk may be too blind To see your perfect view I would gladly be nobody with you. They can keep their glitter and their glitz I’d rather have your smarts and wits Any old day of the week I’ll take your glasses and your charm Your funny voices and red ant farm Far over their poise and their chic You may be nerdy, and a little off track, But that’s ok I’m out of whack Nearly as much as you are. I like your shoes, and I like your hair, And I like the different clothes you wear Though sometimes a bit bizarre. You may get shouldered in the hallways As the jock-buffs push on through. When I say your name quite dreamily I may always get asked, “Who?” You may not be real popular Or known to Timbuktu But I’d gladly be nobody with you. I would gladly be nobody with you. © 2010 BibliophileAuthor's Note
