The Flower & the BeeA Poem by Bianca King
She sat there looking pretty in the midst of other flowers.
Wore her best perfume that summer And waited there for hours Boys came along, but rarely men Nor the one she wanted to see. Her love was strong So forever she would wait The Flower for the Bee. Eventually she had wilted down Her petals laid where they fall. The precious flower was all used up; Not the fairest of them all. They had pinched her silken petals And had crushed her toughened leaves. Still she tried to love them all, And waited The Flower for the Bee When finally the Bee came to, The Flower tried to hide. At the sight of what she'd become The Bee broke down inside. The Flower tried to make her case, She was too broken for the Bee. But the Bee just smiled, And said to her: 'Leave that choice to me.' He lifted up her head And he told her how he felt The other flowers weren't for him. They would never make him melt. Up until the day they died, He told her all there was to see. They loved each other forever, They did! The Flower and the Bee. © 2011 Bianca KingAuthor's Note
