Trash

A poem by Alejandro Manuel Espinoza

The wind blows in my ears and makes the sound of a raging thunder
I close my eyes and ponder whether it is really a storm
It is true that storms bring destruction
And for a moment, I am almost fooled
Into thinking this is nature’s own work
Everything, a mere shadow of its former self
A graveyard of nature
Which exists in the outskirts of the society of man

What comes out of the ground is used up
Everything that made nature alive is taken
And after it is used
It is cast back into the earth
But even the place from which it came will take long…
So long
Before it will accept it back

Since the pieces of nature cannot return, they wander,
Being pushed by the wind for centuries
Falling into the river
Clinging on to trees
Suffocating animals
Rolling over hidden corpses in the dirt

The process continues on
Until the rivers run with nature’s
Squeezed up
Used up
Absorbed
Refined
Compressed
Beauty…

Which to us is called…
Trash

Some poetry works without punctuation but I think this needs it. I think the way you worded some of your thoughts could have been more thoroughly developed. I want to get a better sense of what your saying; be able to grasp the opinion instead just have it read to me.
