The Hallowed Paint Nihilists

The Hallowed Paint Nihilists

A Poem by Alejandro Espinoza
"

I met a girl once on a plane - and I knew I would never see her again. Yet knowing this, I still tried to keep contact... but I still never heard from her. Wishful thinking I suppose.

The Hallowed Paint Nihilists

A poem by Alejandro Manuel Espinoza

Steel wings bring momentary bliss
And subdue your darkest sensations
Deepened by the dancer entwined in a drill bit

Given to you in steel hands is the momentary advent
Of some green eyed stranger
Those you know for so little are always sewn with perfection

They speak of God and his absence
They make small talk as nonsensical as the cries
In their own Pentecostal church

They speak of Godless miracles
And of the tranquility of sex

The stranger happens to have dawn of the gods painted amidst
Those green eyes
As if their non-existing God painted them as beautiful
As the prose orange in the sky

You listen to their words as if submerged in a ballad
Knowing the Nihilistic gift will soon part ways

The hypnosis in the eyes burn away and dissolve
Like ashes in a lake – and you feel the déjà vu kiss
Knowing that divinity has returned you to reality
