I HATE this poem with a passion... but I will never throw it away or hide it, as it is what I felt once before.

She Is Quiet

A poem by Alejandro Manuel Espinoza

This girl’s heart belongs to another

And I don’t know why I crave her lips

As I sit here with her, running my fingers through her soft threads of hair

I edge my fingers closer to her neck

I imagine beckoning her mouth to mine

She is quiet as I gently toss her hair back and forth

Her gentle breaths like a suppressing drug

Her voice – like a kiss on the cheek

I feel her words can never tell her my feelings

So I touch her neck again, softly

Her warm skin responds to my fingers

And she shudders

Not once do I let her leave from me – nor does she attempt to

I hurt for her warmth

I could kiss her – she is right here

But I don’t – even though she won’t refuse

I want her to stay here – enveloped in my care for her

Nested in sleep for a day

At this moment I wish for nothing more
