Mental And Physical Selficide

A poem by Alejandro Manuel Espinoza

The secrecy of sin ultimately gives way to divine retribution

Extreme sorrow and rage is bestowed upon the sinner

Guilt is but another catheter lodged in my mind

Nevertheless… I know this is my fault

I contemplate running this razor across my wrists

And watching my blood leak out as my vision fades

It’s almost perfect… and I think about it with a half-open mouth

I feel the blades sharpness already as I press it against my veins

All I really have to do is move it down my arm

And in a few minutes it will all be over

Hmmm….it’s taking too long to decide

I’ll delay my death for a little while longer

I just can’t do it

Even though I tell myself I want to
