Glass World

A poem by Alejandro Manuel Espinoza

Sable blades of contempt cross themselves over my heart

It yet bleeds

The river of black song envelopes my protection

While white breaths long to love again

Love,

It yet bleeds

An item of pure content

A syringe of illusion

Driving self mutilation, the letters of gules

A message of cold want

Frigid breaks in the forms of lies

Will forever deepen the cavernous paradox of

I love you

Blurred and cracked distortions of emotions

Force my mind to allude to a love once had

Breaking into my sphere of tranquility and seclusion

My dark womb of blinded content

I dwell in the shattered glass of my world

And it reflects a visage most tearful

A hideous personification of sorrow

I bring forth tears

My children brought forth by trepidation

The children I so long for, and the only ones I shall ever have

Aching inside, with insatiable desires

Scorching my conscience with filth-burning fires

My broken mind

So much to give, yet no one to give to
