Bonnie

A poem by Alejandro Manuel Espinoza

I seek to convert you, spectre of my magnified past.

My name is Bonnie, I’m 27.

Then again, I’m just all that my mind creates.

For a small moment, I’d like everything to be pure.

Without that overload of thought and fear.

When you find that fear is real, That shock is anything and everything

The reality and not the dream, that is what becomes evident

The gravity of sight, the gravity of air

The gravity of another moment.

And that’s it.

Mental Sobriety is over

Now you’re worrying about your clothes and what is pleasing to other people’s eyes.

Frantically clean and calm

I desire ascension into truth

Because hampered is my tiny world little in and around the diner

Maybe I’d like to be free and dance amongst this happiness
