Caught in a Reflection

Caught in a Reflection

A Poem by Ember Beyune

She waits at the window watching the rain
Hopes for answers for someone to explain
Why does her reflection appear so sad
A mask, a shadow of what she once had

Her smile, once bright, now falls from her face
Food that brought delight lie devoid of taste
Both eyes, windows to a land without light
Everything she touches doesn’t feel right

Sounds of raindrops mix with the splash of tears
There is no one coming, nobody hears
She gives up, her song has sung its last chord
No one sees the direction she walks toward

She stepped out of the door, there a bird flew
Sky blue, it looked at her and then she knew
Storms come and go, the world is this way
Tomorrow will come and dawn a new day
