Last ChancesA Story by Beverly JaneWas it really over?Prologue:
I wore a long black silk dress that day. Not for a funeral. It was for something I saw coming. I closed my eyes listening to the aches and sounds of the forest. "I gotcha," I heard his cold voice as he grabbed me from behind. I felt no fear. No suprise. My breathing came in and out at a normal pace. "I did love you," he said. "Once." I turned to him, my face covered in anger and mostly betrayal. "I get it," I hissed. "Just leave." He laughed harshly. "Gladly," he smiled. He turned and started to walk away. I made sure he wasn't in hearing distance, and collapsed to the ground sobbing. © 2011 Beverly Jane |
