They say....

They say....

A Story by BBP

They say time heals. It doesn't. It's bullshit that people say when you're hurting,  because they can't heal your pain.
Nothing truly ever heals.
It can retreat from your mind for a period of time here and there, it can slow down your tears from once a day to once a year. Hell, maybe even once every few years. But true pain, gutwrenching pain, that s**t never disappears.
Time helps you get stronger, makes the pain more manageable. Puts a little distance between you and whatever fateful day your soul tries to wish away.
But I ask you this.... if time could heal, would you really want it to?
Would you really give up that pain of missing someone so much it makes your stomach turn to barbwire?
The harder someone is missed, is pure reflection of how much they were loved.
They don't say time brings them back.
So, while you are sitting on the shower floor crying, missing that special someone, remember that you are loving them. You are keeping their memory alive.
Love isn't meant to keep to yourself, so maybe, just maybe, the pain hurts so bad is because they are no longer here to divide that love with.

Your message brings up two of my pet peeves. I hate when people harp about forgiveness (as a child of rape, I can say some things are flatly unforgivable) . . . and I hate when people say we should get over it (trying the erase the discomfort of being with someone who's hurting in some way). You express yourself very powerfully. I've always said, the best wordcrafting isn't s**t if you don't have something to say. YOU, my friend have something to say & you know how to focus your message & hone it to a point. This is so refreshing to me! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

True words - and yes no loss or anything that breaks u or hurts you is easy- but we cannot remain captive to it- yes expression of feelings is good and yes love feels all but hatred and unforgiveness steals your soul- not worth it - we need to grow move on- the cracks allow the light in and each hardship and pain makes our masterpiece beautiful🌹

Thank you so much Jimmy! Just one of those bleeding heart rant moments.
Absolutely right, Bev. Time is not a healer...the hurt may be hidden away from everyone but yourself...only to resurface when it is least expected. Losing someone...human or animal...leaves a pain that will never go away...hell, I can be brought to tears thinking about my Cocker Spaniel we put down 15 years ago.
Pain is Mother Nature's way of letting you know you're still alive.

I love that... It is a reminder of being alive. And yes so true about an animal, it took me a year .. read more
as well as being a good read.. you appear to have subtly incorporated several universal truths for us all to ponder upon and reconsider at our leisure..... N

my sincere pleasure...
Sadly there's always a little adage for every occasion. Time heals must the be the bloody worse one though.
Especially when you think, birthdays, special occasions, pictures. You never get over people dying, and why should you.

Yeah there are always reminders in songs and pictures and the stars.
That is such a beautiful thought to hold, seeing through more than pain and remembering the person lost, not just that they were, but still are loved in a way that will never diminish.
They say a lot, do they, but it is all just platitudes for something better than awkward silence. Yet it never is better than saying nothing and understanding.
I have heard a widow fly into a rage when someone remarked that they were a good age, like that would have helped in any way. Grief has no rulebook and remembering that pain is love is the first thing I have heard that can make sense of loss.
What a beautiful mind you have to feel that.
