Got me thinkin' of you

Your smile flashes through the bright lights

and I know it always will

Sometimes the memories are harder to swallow

than a ten pound pill

As coldness creeps in

and the saints try not to sin

As the jingle bells ring

and my sad heart tries to sing

Promise me you'll comfort me

with your sweet embrace

and your smiling face

As I stare at the star that I claimed for you in the sky

Please promise you'll comfort me as I remember you and cry

You may be gone from this place 

that we still walk 

But you'll never be forgotten because

your memories still talk

They talk to me many times a day

But their always shaded in blue during 

this......melancholy holiday

Heart felt and sad.
I too lost someone around Xmas, and it's hard not thinking of them.
There's a tinge of melancholy beneath the eggnogg and wrappers.

Holidays can def be rough sometimes, though perhaps passed loved ones can remind of us of what's truly important, and that's the ultimate gift.

Good stuff, BPP, even whilst a lil blue.

Thanks Alessander. I lost her around her birthday but all the holidays have a way of choking me with her memory.

I love your insight on the 'ultimate gift'. It is so true, I thank her for it all the time. She truly changed my life when I lost her, her memory makes me a better person.

very touching B ...we are so easy to overlook how holidays are not always joyful..but deeply connected to loss and grief ..i'm so glad you posted this ..it is a reminder to all to aspire to be sensitive and caring ... as Christ came to show us ... tho i am late .. i wish you the best .. and the most pleasant of New Year dreams .. sure did enjoy your book :)

thank you..yes...my celebrations were of the very serene and quiet kind ..we didn't have to cook nor clean up as our only neighbor in the woods had us over for Christmas turkey and ham ... kind of nice without all the kids and g-kids to step around ;) its a great life ..and great promising adventures to be had ..and i wish them to you and yours too! :)

Man that's sad, loved the star claiming line though. The deeper love, the longer and more painful the missing and if the one missed a child...doesn't bear thinking about.
A friend's daughter committed suicide 2 weeks ago tomorrow on her own daughters birthday. Christmas and her birthday tainted beyond repair until her own demise. ( the Little one is 11 years old)
My thought now this evening will be with you.
